  1. Trout fishing is a lot of fun...nice that there are many parts where you can do it and still have peace of mind. They stock lake junior here in Chattanooga a couple of times a year and it looks like this for about 3 days until all the fish are picked out of the lake.
  2. Nope...actually that is excellent (outstanding actually) for belted magnums and the others that gun is chambered for.
  3. It works well, but is S-L-O-W. Couple of benchrest world records were set on ammunition loaded with a Lee loading kit a while back. I suggest springing for the press rather than the lee loader...for no other reason that you can easily swap dies. The 3 calibers that you will load combined will cost you more than the Anniversary kit.
  4. My wife went with a revolver simply because her hands weren't strong enough to rack the slide of the smaller semi-auto guns. Couldn't overcome the spring on the magazine either.
  5. Ever seen a hormone filled teen with asperger's syndrome? This video will catch you up on anything you have missed. /there is, eek, a stiffy in that video also...I kinda feel bad for that kid's brother.
  6. Heck...just in the last 12 months here in Chattanooga there have been no fewer than 5 shootings within 1/4 mile of the city's premier downtown parks (Cooledge/riverpark). Even worse --Here-- The last one occurred at riverbend right in front of a police officer ....within one block of the downtown precinct. ....the said officers were actually investigating a separate/unrelated shooting that happened 20 minutes earlier. I don't know what the commission is smoking by thinking that our current setup is a safe haven that needs protecting from evil guns.
  7. Brings up some interesting thoughts, but the guy is putting way too much thought into it. This guys sounds strikingly like the people who argue that paying taxes is optional, that magnets can be used to magically cure illness, and that hypermile their Prius. Or the benchrest shooters that have rituals not unlike the superstitions that baseball stars have to "improve their game"One could get a brass brush and rig it up to piston that automatically scrubs a steel barrel...leave it running for 10 years and it would not materially cause any accuracy reducing damage. Unless it is impregnated with something other than brass...it is simple metallurgy. If after 150 rounds someone screwed up their barrel that they couldn't even pass a patch through it....they need to sell all their guns and take up golf. This is a fail of epic proportions not at all related to the use of Sweet's bore solvent.
  8. Good to know...my folks live about a mile away and I will drop by there and see what the number and transfer charge is. Will edit all previous posts to help the poor sap getting the calls
  9. Honestly...I feel the same way. Nice guy who really knows his stuff.
  10. Another vote for the H&R (not partial to the Rossi) Matched pair in 20 ga + X centerfire.
  11. Lakesite Shop Easy 9546-A Hixson Pike Soddy Daisy, TN 37379 phone: 423-842-XXXX Call'em up and ask. I believe that Montlake Sporting Clays is also up and running again...they do transfers too.
  12. The bigger the boom...the more the savings....it is entirely possible, if you have picked up/saved the brass over time, use pulled milsurp and work up a good load...to load 1000 rounds of .223 for under $150 you could throw in a lee challenger set and everything you need to get started and still come up spending less than 1000 rounds of surplus ammo That is a LOT of shooting for cheap.
  13. I understand that as it was very clear how it happened scary, reference disaster waiting to happen as locking is not exactly an intended result. /GI Joannabe makes a mess with a holster locked gun and a "Safe action" trigger. Stuff like this makes Blackhawk sick at their stomach...thus the "There are many other, high quality, holster options which have no such problems." statement
  14. Yikes...that 1st picture is scary!!
  15. Too bad it was a .45 - it it where a 9mm he could have applied a little ointment, a band-aid, and went on his merry way /At least that is what I think what would have happened from reading all the Einstein writers on the interweb
  16. You should be able to find an old school locker or similar on craigslist. This + an electric burner eye cut into the bottom and a good thermometer will work. You can also gut one of those cheap gun cabinets you get at wall mart and make it work also.
  17. I would personally trade it away no problems...out of a pistol that 5.7 round is just not as efficient as it is out of the carbine. To much flash and noise - Too little effect on what you are shooting at.
  18. Some...S&B brass is really really high quality stuff. They do make steel plinking ammo also. But yeah - anything not made of brass is a big no-no for standard reloading dies.
  19. Only Transfers...give'em a call
  20. Yup...old. The only 3 you need to know is Mark Scott, Skips, and the Lakesite bait shop. Them + CDNN can wreck a budget!!!
  21. Heck...I live like 200 yards on the Chattanooga side of 37415. Still then I drive around that stupid little town if at all possible. Now that Darr's is gone there is no reason to visit there anyway.
  22. TGO David (The admin here) might be able to do it for a good price if he isn't swamped...I believe he might be within reasonable driving distance also. Pop him a PM

  24. Holy cow...pulled 9mm at $90 per 1000. That is what new costs just about everywhere I buy from. Here Actually twice as much as lead bullets. Here Here And Here At that price after 2000 shots one could actually buy a decent ballard rifled glock barrel with the savings...if it is polygonal rifling that keeps you from using lead. There are still good deals to be had...rare as they are
  25. Take comfort in knowing that love transcends time...it sounds like your father, with that many loving children, gave start to quite a legacy.
