  1. Silenced supersonic projectiles are somewhat of an oxymoron anyways
  2. Yes...If your gun already has the two small mount screws on the left side of the receiver (it should) you are good to go! Make sure that if you order one you get the right flavor as there are also top mount ones floating around. I have shot both the Williams 5D and the more fancy versions with the click adjustments on a 39a, a 336, a benjamin 392, and a 10/22 with much success. It feels weird shooting them at first because you wouldn't think that they would produce good groups, but they sure do. Only catch I have noticed is that peep sights work because the human eye has a terrific knack for finding the brightest point that happens to be the center of the aperture...When the sun starts to fade or if there are a lot of shadows it can shift the POA a small bit....not enough to effect hunting accuracy however. They of course will be better than the stock iron because you have one less plane to focus on, but if you are hunting with it...still hard to beat a good 2-7x power scope or red dot despite the odd mix of old and new. I have a Marlin Guide gun with an Ultradot 25 mounted on it. It is odd, but like your 1894 the setup makes it the quickest "to shoulder" gun made. Almost as fast as a trap gun to get a lock on your target.
  3. It is unlike previous generations of AR type rifles in that the Ruger uses a gas piston to cycle the action of the gun. The regulator adjusts the amount of gas that is allowed to vent and thus giving the ability to increase or decrease the force of the cycling action. This is needed when one is using lower powered handloads, high powered loads, or if the action gets so dirty that the additional power is needed to overcome gunk in the action of the gun. This isn't exclusive to the Ruger. Most manufacturers have similar offerings as well as conversion kits to retrofit an earlier gun. It is said that a gas piston design is more reliable. The verdict is still somewhat grey on practical advantages of such a system over the conventional one.
  4. Primers....that is all
  5. I see those devices as an easy way to shoot the fingers off your left hand.
  6. If it is the combo you should have no problem getting that price....With a nice wood stock those are beautiful rifles also. Good luck...Try the Gun shows first. You will get a lot more for it there for some reason.
  7. Might be a bit high simply because they are not collector items and a new setup just like it runs a little less than that. I wouldn't accept less than $500 if scoped, but $700 may be a bit ambitious /YMMV
  8. .22lr pistol .22lr rifle Hi-power rifle Shotgun Self defense pistol ----------------------------------------------- Brands are ford vs. chevy and it is all about caliber rather than the delivery mechanism. The above list bar-none covers all the bases. BigShot -Holy cow I didn't see your list until I posted because it was on the second page...goes to show that great minds think alike :-)
  9. Yep....Armaloy Might want to keep it as most people don't know much about them and they are great shooters. Ed's T/C still sells the barrels at a reasonable price HERE
  10. Does it look like it is bare metal or is does it appear to be powder coated silver/stainless? Finish determines what you have there. It sounds like you have a Armaloy version. If so it is a little less common, but will not interchange barrels with the other contender line without some modifications or using correct Armaloy barrels.
  11. He means that no man should put up with her crap nasty... That and she snores in her sleep. Keeps you up all night
  12. Ding...Ding...Ding You won the prize of this thread. Simple, cheap, and every bit the equal of all the gimmicky stuff mentioned already. There is a reason Remington just sold their 10,000,000 870 shotgun and Mossberg is right up there close to the same number. They simply work.
  13. You guys are slacking...this thread is useless without pics!!!!
  14. Ask her if she knows shooting is an olympic sport...
  15. Smooth out the action with the IOWEGAN IBOK, put some grips by a panel maker by the name of "41magnum" on the internet, and shoot the heck out of that....you could shoot that gun 100 shots a day for the rest of your life and it would afterwards still be a great shooter. Am a pretty big fan of the SP and GP guns...
  16. It doesn't...any 380 rated for +p is a marketing push, and not a SAMMI release.
  17. Yes...the top quality safes are exactly that...one of the few industries where there is a top of the pile product where there is little doubt that you have a quality item. No "percieved value" fogging people's judgement of good and bad. One of the strange things about the selections available is that they honestly seem to fall into 3 distinct categories....Crap, good enough for most, and "money can't get you anything better" And as much as I rib the Safe House for pushing top quality products to the everyday joe....they more than make up for a oversold item with the best service in the state.
  18. Agreed 100% Very well written...Kudos
  19. Rule of thumb...If in doubt use an FFL....removes all risk.
  20. Not everyone can afford a Cadillac even though it may be the biggest, best, and safest. They have to settle for something in between.
  21. Here is the ultimate (but true) hijack. A analogy on people who "know a lot" about motorcycles.... Generally those who can spend 30 minutes rattling off every specification about 30 different models down to the weight of X part in grams generally have no practical knowledge about the use of these products to save their lives. Same things with rifle cartridges...sorry but if one can make a 30 minute conversation about everything that happened in the past 100 years of firearm development and why "X" cartridge is the cure all....they no practical knowledge about any of it and would benefit from some time spent actually shooting said cartridges rather than talking about them.
  22. I will just be glad that it stopped raining!
  23. Here is my take on this gun: Never underestimate the pull . . . and discretionary cash . . .of the "mall ninja" market. This thing offers nothing above and beyond a regular 10/22 other than a $250 premium
  24. Henri Mancini, Herb Alpert, and Pat Metheny
  25. The .243 - An elegant weapon for a more civilized time It is one of the most inherently accurate chamberings in existence /No need for a blaster.
