  1. Onother vote for Smith 42
  2. Hey GTS there is no walnut on that gun!?!? I suppose that I will still have to give it a go with a mag or two next time I actually get the time to play again. This is a VERY nice build! Can't wait to try it out on the 200 or 300 yard range...Very well a contender to outshoot the .25-06
  3. Riverbend will not make a very enjoyable trip to the Aquarium...there will be a bazillion people there unless you get there when they open. That being said....it is a VERY nice aquarium and well worth the time and money.
  4. He probably did this after getting his bill from Swissotel They are way overpriced...
  5. So if a suppressor is made in Tennessee (and properly labeled as such) after this law takes effect...it would be legal to buy without a stamp needed as long as it stays within the state lines? Hmmm.... Me thinks Hero gear should get into plumbing.
  6. Yes...I have also been mulling on how this is going to change things for us in TN....not sure how material it will be or what will be different 10 years from now.
  7. TGO Davids argument of dropping the slide on an empty 1911chamber may be valid...However it is gradual enough that there is not consensus enough to actually prove it in a material way. One would think that a magazine or company in the history of modern firearms would 100% dispel the facts/myths regarding dry firing...nobody really has done this in a valid manner that brings consensus to where it is no longer bickered about. Many of the other classical arguments that are made with respect to dry firing centerfire arms simply are not true. One being the dry fire caps...the firing pin on ALL centerfire (not rimfire, but applicable in 99% of those cases too) arms should function to where the limiting factor of the pins travel is derived from the mechanical limitations of the gun...not hitting the extremely soft material that the primer is made of. Simply put...the firing pin should travel 100% of its ability with every pull of the trigger. With that being said it really doesn't make a difference if a cartridge is there or not.
  8. The problem is that...if you have physical access to something + time...you really aren't that safe (pun intended). All one has to do is poke a hole in it. Isn't really difficult to do if the situation presents itself properly regardless of the manufacturer of the safe. If there is any leverage point at all...it can be busted. We portrait thieves as neanderthals...they aren't stupid...just opportunistic. Actually...I probably would do something different with respect to safe choice if I had to actually set it in the middle of a gymnasium like that video. Don't get me wrong...If I had a top shelf collection I would probably be in a situation to actually invest in a 1" armor plated gunsafe. It makes it a little more difficult if they have to bust out 3 walls, pry it off the floor, the wall, move it (despite the 800+ # weight) to somewhere more open, and pry it. All the while having to beat the alarm, the dog, and the nosy neighbors wondering why the heck people are sawing in the house next door in one of the very few times where there is nobody at the house. All respect intended, but a "regular" safe is perfectly adequate for most circumstances. They are not the "best" but just like most other products....the best is for those who simply do not know any better.
  9. Man I sure wish I could find a "poor" $150 Beretta 96!!!!
  10. Print out this thread, tape it to a bottle of cisco, and leave it on his front porch.
  11. That H&R is a handful to shoot...really, really powerful cartridge when reloaded for longer barrel lengths. Hits much harder than a 3" slug.
  12. That would be the cabinets...their safes are actually as good as any of the mainline manufacturers offerings.
  13. Shoot it till it cracks, bulges, or primers don't seat well. YMMV I have .38 specials with target loads that have been reloaded 20+times & some .44 magnums that my dad was reloading in the early 80's The key to good case life (straight walled ammo) is not overexpanding them with that 2nd die. You can expect anywhere from 5 - 20+ reloads with straight walled, moderate pressure rounds like 9mm
  14. For Self Defense? There are several small revolvers in .22lr Taurus makes one. Also...A single action Bearcat might light his fire....Or a even derringer
  15. Yes...really old stuff only. 50 years old or so It seems that rimfire primers change a bit over half a century...or they slowly attack the brass. Whatever reason...unlike centerfire they do actually get old.
  16. Tube = Straight Pipe = Teh ghey /Not sure how this is going to work on my single shot topper 88 or Ruger #3
  17. Nope...they made it into a separate bill.
  18. woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. was there a fiscal responsibility when the original permit came out...for signs?
  20. Reciprocity? Is this guy really asking this?!?!? Would have thought he would have done his homework.
  21. Niceley is playing nice...don't care much for the guy from Memphis Willing to bet that EVERY major part will post by the way this thing is going so far...The WMA thing is a different bill that has being going off and on for years now
  22. Woohoo...crossing my fingers.
  23. Go to CDNNinvestments.com and give them a call...if you know a willing FFL you can get your hands on a decommissioned one for $380
  24. I am...they have been fetching average $300 in 80% shape to $400 in good shape on my site. They really haven't jumped that much since the gun hoarding started a while back either. For some reason they fetch $25-50 more here in our pocket of SE TN despite national prices. Every now and then you run across a "dog" for $250 or so, but those days are almost over. Unless it was NIB I would not personally pay more than $350...$375 if I really wanted it. Since it is a new model you can get a pretty good idea how much it has been shot by the ring around the cylinder...the NM guns have a dragging latch by design. Most 9mm cylinders will have little to no drag. Just as an FYI CDNNinvestments is running a 1 week special on their anniversary models...the .38/357 flat top is one of them for $375 brand new. Does not have the convertible cylinder, but is a flattop with micrometer sights. That being said...do NOT spend over $375 for it
