  1. That's a simple to fix move North. Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Pro
  2. On Saturday Oct 4th there will be a match for members of the range to shoot IBS format 600 yard match. The entry is 20.00 and there will be classes for guys who shoot tactical with bipods. So bring your best guns and. Loads and join us Saturday morning. The match will begin at 8:00 am and for typical zero on most calibers it'll be from 10 minutes to 12 minutes up from a 100 yard zero. Format will be 6 mins for first target for sighting in. Then 10 minutes for a five shot record, after the first sight in and target you get 2 mins for sight in and 10 mins for each record target. We will shoot a 4 target match . I'm going out on the limb and say though the match will be scored for best agg group and best score agg. Anyone who wants to participate there will also be an additional 5.00 to throw into the kitty for the closes to the X winner takes all on the X pool.
  3. Well I managed to get back to the range this morning and run my loads over the chronograph ( Magneto Speed V3 ) the 75 grains of H-1000 and the 230 grain OTM Bergers averaged 2800 fps and at 300 yards this morning I put five shots in under 1/4" Next I tested the 208 grain Hornady Amax with 75.5 grains of H-1000 and the avg velocity on those were 2864 fps. They grouped under 1/2" at 300 as well so I am happy camper for sure on these two loads.
  4. I'm thinking 20.00 per gun and if you want to shoot another class it'll be 10.00 extra
  5. With a new range setup here in Chapel Hill TN I'm thinking of going to the owner and asking for a day reserved for the range. I'm thinking a format along the lines of what's done over in NC at the annual shoot there. Distance will be max range of 500 yards with targets setup either at 100 300 and 500 or maybe start at 200 then 300 and 500 As mentioned same format as the famous groundhog shoot in hickory NC one cold bore shot and then we shoot for scores. Classes would be factory gun custom and a semi auto class for the AR shooters. I would like some feedback and your thoughts of participating if all possible before I go and reserve a day for this.
  6. Thanks guys hopefully it all will be repeatable and the loads stable. The loads for the OTM bullets did repeat so I'm confident on that load I'm just hoping for same with the Amax loads Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Pro
  7. There is but in past I've found once the barrel leaves the lathe it's difficult to get it trued back perfectly. Threading and cutting the crown should all be done in one operation with same setup. Not saying it can't be done there's just a higher risk of runout Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Pro
  8. I just didn't figure a 28# rifle would need it but rest assured the next barrel that goes on this beast will be braked.
  9. Dang I went to order a pallet of the 45 auto and its out of stock, it's been about two years since I got my last pallet from them it sure be nice to get another with free freight.
  10. The rifle is a full blown custom the action is a Bat dual port RBLPRE the barrel is a lilja three groove 1-10 twist x 30" the dia is 1.300 the stock is a McMillan MBR with a 3" Forend its topped with a night force 12-42x56 bench rest scope and the rig weighs in at 28# Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Pro
  11. Saturday afternoon I got to work on some of my load development on my new 300 WM, for the past week I've had some mixed results with then Berger 230 grain hybrid match so I switched over to the 230 OTM and the 208 Amax bullets. The Amax loads start at 74.0 grains of H1000 and go up to 77.5 grns in .5 grn increments The OTM loads are just. A repeat of what I shot earlier in the week and the results repeated themselves so I'm going to stick with the posted load and seating depth on this particular bullet. Next is now getting chronograph data so I can plug into my ballistics software and have some data to work with to get to 1 mile. Below are pictures of today's results and all groups were shot at 300 yards. Temps today were in the low 80's with winds gusting up to 12 mph and steady of around 5-8 mph. Although some may disagree but all groups with exception of 1 group, the rest are 3 shots. The group sizes are posted with the pics and also load date and bullet length measured off the ogive.
  12. Yes I know about them they I believe is the oldest 1000 yard club in the states. Great shooters shoot there. Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Pro
  13. It is and honestly its actually not stable enough. I'm gonna pull out my hart 1000 yard rest and see if I can do any better. The Sinclair flexes on me with the center pole extended where the Hart is solid as a rock Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Pro
  14. The rifle will shoot it's put the 190 vld bullets in under 2" at 600 yards so now I'm trying stretch it to a mile and finding a heavier bullet to do it with some accuracy. I'll get there just gonna take some time. I may have to install a brake on it to tame it a bit more those big bullets have some kick to them. Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Pro
  15. This rifle isn't setup for prone shooting the stock is 3" wide for bench shooting. I'm trying find loads for it now, been testing at 300 yards with inconsistency. This is with the 230 grain hybrid match bullets I'm gonna try the otm hybrids and then the 208 AMAX next Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk Pro
  16. I have acces to a private range that goes to a mile. Strategic edge goes out to 1250 yards
  17. Any team that beats UT is a team I'm for. A great Saturday is seeing UT get beat and an awesome weekend is seeing both TN teams get beat. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
  18. No F class for me, I got it to shoot steel out to a mile.
  19. Just arrived today, a Bat M dual port with a Lilja 1-10" x31" 1.3 dia. The stock is a McMillan MBR and it's chambered in a 300 WM the scope is a NF 12-42 BR model. So far it seems to like 74 grns H-1000 but I'll stretch it out in the morning at 500 yards to verify. Even at 28# pushing the 230 grn match hybrids, it has a hefty kick.
  20.     The rear rest works well but I'm making a new block with no taper in it so the gun actually slides straight back instead of downward. I'll use the front rest to make my windage and elevation adjustments. I do know ear plugs is a must shooting this thing
  21. Shooting short range is new for me and I thought I Tinker with a new toy I acquired last weekend. I figured since it's short range there was no need in having a full gun so I horse traded around for half of a gun. Of course it's a tight neck so I had to order a neck turner to turn 6 BR brass. The turner arrived today and after messing up 4-5 cases trying to get it set just how I wanted it, I turned 25 cases and fired formed 6 of them. After I got the cases fire formed I dropped five charges using my old Redding BR30 powder measurer and went back out to the shooting bench. I have to say its a bit awkward shooting this thing and I'm unsure as of yet how to go about getting in on it and getting a good feel of what I need to do to acquire the best and consistent hold possible. Anyhow the gun is a savage Striker with a shilen 1-13 twist x17" .269 neck chambered in a 6BR. The stock I believe is a 7Fingers and it has a Timney trigger set at 6ozs. Here's the gun setup, I bought some delrin and used the table saw to machine a slot in it to fit the stock in so I'd have a 3" wide surface to use with my rests. Now here's the first five shot group out of the gun. Powder used was H322 and I'm unsure of charge it's between 27.0-27.5 grns using a 68 grn. Hillbilly BT match bullet. This group was shot without the 3" delrin attached to it so it was to me a bit unstable to hold. One more with target and gun.
