  1. Dave I sort of had the same type of experience, but, as a concrete import for Cali I am glad I had the opportunity to share in that experience. But it raises a question for me.  I don't recall from the hunter safety class if there is a preferred size for a buck for the taking.  And of course I have to sit on the home depot special bucket on the ground and in a wooded area and can see where at distance it might not be able to tell the difference between a young buck and a doe.  I know as a newbie I need to not be over eager to take the shot.  Kind of long winded but is there a size a person cannot legally take or does it matter thanks for all the help you have offered it has been a great help.
  2. I didn't ask that very well dooh, were do you take your meat for processing or so you do it yourself?    Thanks
  3. Dave S, where do you go in Clarksville if you don't mind me asking.   thanks
  4. thanks for the reply on the white hot pellets, I did shoot some this past weekend but having never shot BP in the past I have nothing to compare it to.  We got started late in the day at the shooting complex and fired the PB last, when in retrospect we should have fired it 1st.  So we will be out again on Friday to zero it in, we were bore sighting it last night, so hopefully it will zero with very little problems and be ready for Saturday.  And with any luck I will get to post some photos of the rig and the doe that has my name already on it.  :)
  5. has any body shot the white hot's?  would like to know how they did are they worth the extra cost, or were there any other benefits to using them.   thanks   ron
  6. well I was able to pick to pick up the ML so now on to opening day, there have been several does in the area just hope that there still around when the day comes with my name on it.  Happy hunting to all and good luck.
  7. I have been looking in to this as well and thinking of getting a kit, after looking at all the utube videos it doesn't look to difficult.  The nice thing is that if you mess it up  you just shoot the base coat and redo the dip, so what can go wrong with that?
  8. I plan on going as well got some odds n ends I would like to trade, sell, get rid of so I hope to have some luck.  Is just up the road so it cant hurt to bad.
  9. settin here laughing out loud just thinking about that picture.
  10. I saw one the other day from one of the online people just cant recall who it was, so I guess I should not have said anything as this wasn't no help.  :)
  11. saw one belly up along Madison 5 miles south of Wal-Mart the other day so there out here rooten around it was a good size one to.
  12. I have some stuff that I want to sell or trade and was wondering about this show, I haven't been to this one and have not heard good things about it.   thanks   Ron
  13. a good question about it still being a fmj, someone else will have to answer that one, although and I could be wrong but I don't think that it is.  So hopefully someone else will chime in with a better answer.
  14. I had asked a similar question on google and an old post popped up from the ar15 web site and 1 person had commented that he had been very successful with using a 69 grain hollow point loaded light so obviously he was a reloader, but while out yesterday I found and bought a 69 grain hollow point at wally world.  Now mind you it was not cheap and hope to be able to crack of a successful round when the time comes and oh by the way it is 223.    Ron
  15. I asked a similar question a few weeks ago on the hunters thread, and was under the impression the some of the ML's at Wally world are worth looking at. And having done so, thought I saw some of the CVA's there maybe I am wrong and hopefully more will chime in, hope to pick one up soon myself in time for BP season.
  16. I will have to call out there as you mentioned, the private land is about 30 acres total so not real large but has a great deal of wooded area, and not sure if I would see more than a few doe there. Again thanks for all the input, and I do have the Tennessee hunter card and Dl and my ccw. Thanks Ron
  17. yes we got here several months ago, but due to the circumstances that we are under right now, it has not given me the full opportunity to explore much. I am certainly going to be making changes to that in the very near future. I have made arraignments to hunt on the owners land that is next to us. With that being the case at least I will get some deer time in as the season rolls around, but would like to get out to experience more. Again thanks for all the info, but 1 more question, what does it take besides the fee at Ft Campbell to be able to hunt there, I have seen several references to that and that sounds interesting. Again thanks for all the input.
  18. Thanks for all the feed back
  19. Not yet all that familiar to all of Tennessee yet, we have permission to hunt come gun season for deer, but what are some other open areas near Clarksville, where a person can go to shoot other critters that are open during the various seasons of the year. Thanks in advance for any info. Ron
  20. Thanks for all the responses, I am trying to sell off some welding tools and other metal working tools so that I can come up with the cash for a ML now with hopes of not missing the season. I am almost all set for high power just hope to get that ML, again thanks for all the responses. Ron
  21. Thanks for the response. Ron
  22. this will be my 1st season with my 2 sons we have always live in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles so one hope to bag a dear this year we have plenty of ar's and 12 gauges but no ML and would like to extend the season to increase our chances thanks for any feed back.
