  1. Thanks again for all the info I have plenty to chew on the buy as money permits
  2. thanks for the reply that is what I needed to know.
  3. what dies do some of you prefer in loading the brass, I may or may not cut my own now that I know that David stocks the brass.
  4. thanks for the info I have already been texting David for info on the supplies.
  5. I would like to know what some of you are using to cut 223 brass down and what dies etc to reload your brass for 300blk I am just about down with my build and have 223 brass to use.  thanks in advance for all your info
  6. where is it going to be held thanks in advance
  7. I just bought 1 of their 18 inch stainless with a wylde chamber I have not been able to mount it yet but I does look like a very good barrel
  8. So from the above, it seems safe to say that an 18 inch barrel is going to create more velocity than a 16 inch barrel, but less than a 20 inch barrel. But if an 18 inch barrel creates a higher velocity it should hold true that it would spin a higher grain round equally to a tighter twisted but shorter barrel. Or is that not a safe assumption, and the lower twisted barrel even if longer will still not propel the heavier projectile and still need the tighter twist to propel the projectile accurately?
  9. I did find more information by using of all things the interweb, here is one of the links to what I discovered www.6mmbr/223rem.html the next is http:kwk.us/twist.html and the third one was www.snipercountry.comhottips/twistrate.htm. from what I read on one of those sites is that a 1/9 twist in a 18 inch barrel will handle up to a 70 gr round with out a problem. If you look at the sites and determine if I read it wrong let me know here. it is getting to late to work on the other equations but will be looking at them again tomorrow. Thanks for the imput
  10. when you say 75 to 77 gr in the right conditions, can you explain that a little more in detail for me, however I have read that the 69 gr hollow point will drop a dear. I have been thinking about some pig hunting and not sure if the 69 gr will drop a sow. thanks for the info.
  11. is there any real difference I have a 9 twist heavy stainless with a twist flute on the way, what sayeth use guys I wont be disappointed if I should of held out for a 8 twist it was what I could afford at the time. it is an 18 inch 1/9 twist heavy stainless with a twisted flute. Thanks
  12. being a licensed ham radio operator (KI6PXF) that was issued in California I haven't transferred it yet, the old saying applies to radios like it does to weapons you get what you pay for, you might want to go to Cl and look for a good used radio for a well know maker, I have read reviews on some of the Chinese radios and don't think I would spend the money. The dinner bell just rang so cant offer much more right now but look for good used before buying cheap then have to rebuy.
  13. well I put the 517 in mine today, it took me some time to get it done as I have changed the stock to the archangel stock and it was not made to work with the 517. So I had to get out a deburring tool to make it work with that stock. But here is my question for you guys that have removed the stock trigger, a small spring showed up and could not figure out where it came from, my last thought was it was part of the stock trigger what sayeth the pro's here.
  14. I was able to find the 517 straight trigger locally, and from what was written here it looks to be an ok trigger I am another that doesn't want to tie my rifle up for what could be weeks. how many people here use that trigger and like it. thanks Ron
  15. I was checking some of the websites and the Timney run around 140.00 and the jewel is way high, midsouth has a few in stock and they are right around the corner so I might go that route as well, instead of sending it in. But just wonder how much work I will have to do the new archangel stock I installed.
  16. mine is on the list and was wondering if I should put it back in the original stock, as I installed an archangel stock on mine as well as a bolt lift. I hate to have to send it in, but I did not have a bad experience with my xds when it went in for their recall, but like mentioned this could be months before it comes back what a bummer.
  17. I built one yesterday, it was my 1st so the hymen has been broken, it took me a little longer than I thought going back forth between the instructions printed from the ar site and watching the video. But no lost springs or detents and no scratches or nicks as I masked everything off with a lot of masking tape. Now on to the upper once I can afford to buy all the parts, now that raises a question as I would like to use a 20 inch stainless barrel, what are some suggestions for getting one in that configuration as to where and cost? thanks
  18. Thanks for all the input I will be using the brass, as a side note I did run 1 through a die and it went through with no problems, that was not the case when I had fired about 5 of the rounds when I first used them. As I mentioned, when I fired the first few rounds it was discovered that they were loaded very hot, hence the concerns and questions concerning the brass, thanks for all the imput, happy shooting.
  19. well ok then, can the case be reliably reloaded for 308 use, using a light load or should the case be tossed? Thanks Again
  20. Having read all the responses and thanks for them, and let me clarify that I am new to reloading, so this is a learning process for me. Again having read what has been posted and the 2 cases not being the same, what does it take in terms of dies etc to reload the 762 case to 308 round or is better to just scrap them and get real 308 cases? Or again can the cbc case be used successfully as a 308 round with a lighter load then they were originally loaded with. The reason for the original question is I attempted to fire the rounds in my 700 and had problems with extraction as reported in another thread, and decided that I would not use the live rounds any longer, but had hoped I could use the case to reload with a lighter load after resizing the brass, thanks again for the info and help.
  21. I tried firing some of this in my Remington 700 with terrible results, the would fail to extract. From the looks of the primer they had been loaded very hot, so I am wondering if it is worth the time to pull the rest of the projectiles and resize then reload the brass for further use. or just send in the brass for recycling all opinions would welcome. As a further note I did read the there was a lot of problems with cbc rounds in the past, just wondering again if the brass is worth dealing with. thanks in advance
  22. ya just a pinch, I have also added a few drops of dish washer spot remover, and helps with any of the spots from hard water. I also like to get the water as hot as possible to do the cleaning with. I don't use dish soap I use a general degreaser like cleaner about 1 once and works like a charm
  23. I haven't had a chance to shoot it lately, after cleaning the peepee out of it, I was suppose to go out this past weekend but ended up spending the weekend at the gateway medical center. So hopefully I can get out soon and shot it and see how it performs and then give up date.
  24. we tried the allen head in a power tool and works fine, gonna use that till I can get over to midsouth and pick up the selected tool like one of the tools mentioned above. Thanks for all the imput.
  25. I am going to look at the website again for midsouth and see what they might have in stock, I don't think I want to use our pocket knives, they aren't the 200.00 type but still not cheap and they are our edc knives.
