Lack of support kills HB 2021, parking lot bill
Oh Shoot replied to Sky King's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This remains to be tested, as TN is also quite strong on contract law, too. It's not that they could make you "get rid of your guns", but that they could evict you for it, just as any business owner could remove an armed person from his property, and that doesn't even entail a lease. There have been federal decisions regarding firearm possession in public housing, but eviction based on a "no firearms" lease policy from private owner is iffy. Very similar so far to having otherwise legal gun within employer's parking lot, eh? The balance between gun ownership rights under the state and federal constitutions vs. private property owner's rights, and in the case of leases, contractual legitimacy also. First test is whether the court will automatically grant eviction proceeding on that basis, and I'd opine that most courts would grant it. It may have already happened any number of times, I wouldn't know. I understand from speaking to landlords here (fairly big complex), that they don't even show up in court for eviction "hearings", it's handled through clerk's office only, and if the tenant actually shows to contest it, the matter is rescheduled so that the landlord can appear. But we don't have "no firearms" clause in lease, so they couldn't use that as cause. - OS -
Late to the thread. Norris PD is open 24/7 and will do the transaction any time. It's $20 for one visit or $40 for whole year, June 30-June30. Fee is not prorated. - OS

First republican debate this evening.

Also, I am impressed he's going for the Seven Summit thing; some of those are considered about as tough as Everest. Ironically, Jon Krakauer has said (with a good bit of agreement in the climbing community) that climbing the second highest peaks on each continent is considered much tougher, as many of those take a lot more climbing expertise than the highest ones. Like K2 being much tougher than Everest, etc. - OS -

Not to totally belittle that or anything, but 2 months and $25-40K will get most folks in reasonably good shape up Everest these days. - OS -
I got the DAO model myself, 'cause I figgered I'd carry it, did for a while, but finally decided I needed more rounds to feel comfy in my environment, so now, I wish I'd gotten the hammer version. Anyway, mainly used this the D.M. Bullard Dual Carry, very nice:

A shotgun with an 18" barrel is fine, but saw an inch off and it becomes a WMD. There's a real dearth of logic behind most all weapons laws. - OS

IMNSHO, none of those in the debate can beat Obama as even his deflated ratings now stand, and neither can any of the other "front runners" that weren't there either (Trump, Huckabee, Palin, Romney, or the Grinch). Someone not in the picture will have to emerge or Barack will have to step on his goober a lot worse for a GOP victory. Even if the economy tanks worse, that likely won't do it alone. In a really twisted irony, the Dem voting base of the "have nots" actually expands the poorer folks get. Remember, the vast majority of voters don't care about individual responsibility or freedom. Right now, seems a Dem could unseat Barack easier than any of the fore mentioned Republicans. - OS -
You post on a issue you admittedly don't know about and also don't care about? Just wow. Anyway, to OP, the "one armed exemption" is an odd federal one, but only applicable to federal lands, not states. Also must be 3" or less. Which is also odd since federal buildings have under 2.5" restriction for all knives. TN has no "one armed exemption" for any knife. Though TN statute is clumsily written (no shortage of those), it's generally acknowledged that the only exemption for carrying switchblades are for "Law enforcement officers, Military personnel; or Emergency medical technicians" (although emergency medical folks are only technically mentioned as legal to sell switchblades to, but not specifically exempted for carrying as are military and police). Well, yeah, it's Dolly's state too. - OS -
Not that it matters but I tend to notice little software oddities. With vBulletin, if you make a signature but later zap it, to show NO signature, you will still have the light blue/gray signature separator line which wasn't there initially. - OS

Need Permit class quick, where to look?
Oh Shoot replied to abusfullofnuns's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
You realize that the permit will take 2 weeks to 90 days, depending, with average maybe 30 days right now, right? On the bright side, if you'll show your GA permit when you apply, it should only cost you the $50 renewal fee rather than the $115 normal fee. - OS -
Few people have extensive enough TN Black Panther research to reach an insight like that. - OS

I've bought Ruger 10/22, Ruger Mini14, Marlin 336, and Marlin 1894 in .357 from Wallies, all in last three years or so. Not to mention at least half the ammo I've shot and/or have in stash. - OS

TN honors ALL permits, including all 11 of the states that don't honor ours. - OS -
You mean the PDF, right? But it already doesn't look anything like the JPEG version of a birth certificate form (above image), so it's obviously manipulated, layers or not still included. I actually don't have Illustrator on either of my main boxes anymore, never really used it much and let it lapse somewhere back around whatever version it was about Win XP release days. - OS

Airport gun carry case
Oh Shoot replied to Stegall Law Firm's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yep, and if he had only been charged with that and you couldn't have gotten him off, surely you could have at least gotten it reduced to the Class B. Might have been our awaited test case on this, too, to see if a conviction of carrying past a sign also caused TNDOS to pull his permit under 39-17-1352. You might have had additional work to do. Yeah, statue says "... knowingly trespass or unlawfully enter"....so, lack of intent isn't really a defense. Wow. All in all I'd say you did a stellar job on this one, counselor! - OS -
Interactive Map of State Permit Reciprocity
Oh Shoot replied to East_TN_Patriot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
"Most" is accurate enough, but there are 11 states that issue permits, either "shall issue" or "may issue", that do not recognize TN permit. And of course plus two states that don't issue permits at all. Also, technically, "reciprocity" is not the correct term. TN only has reciprocal agreement with 19 states. - OS -
Ah, thanks. Shows no layers in PhotoShop, it's all one bitmap image. Same in Adobe Reader. I don't know about the different font business, looks like the form all has one font and the typed in responses all one font to me. However, the above PDF looks nothing like the JPEG I got from somewhere else, which has the color of the paper, boxes for the fields, signatures, etc. so I'm kinda lost as to what's claimed as what with what image. I put it at: - OS

Will they also add clerks so you can actually consummate the sale? I spent 30 min in a Wallies today in 'Nooga just buying ammo. - OS

Yeah, been a while since I messed with finer points of PDF. Bitmap stays bitmap but any vector text added stays as actual copy/pastable text, even when opened just in Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader, although layers don't show as such in those. Again, though, can you gimmie a link to the PDF so I can grab it? - OS
