  1. Remember kiddies, those who forget their history are destined to repeat it. A child learns from making mistakes, if you take away their ability to be wrong, they will never be right.
  2. But then again, Tungsten, if a creep restrains your hands and you are wearing on your hip, you are still screwed. That is a flawed argument, your other points are very valid though.
  3. As it should be. Liberals often use the blood in the streets nomenclature to try and prevent citizens from carry. The facts just do not support these claims. Look out Mayor Potato head, you want more gun laws, you WILL lose the election.
  4. Yeah, I used to take nice long walks in the woods and just sort of think over things and "pray" letting the big guy upstairs know what was going on (as if he needed my input.) A great camp in Hendersonville, NC has worship services by the lake during their summer camps. Kanuga. For any Episcopals out there, if your kid hasn't asked about it, look it up and see about sending them. Some of the greatest summers and winters of my life.
  5. Dixie, I forgot, which gun are you carrying? Also, it may not be in the budget, but look in to the Kel-Tec P3AT series. They are quite concealable in a pair of jeans in the back or front pocket.
  6. That was WAY bad mars - or should I say Curley. Anyway. Religion is a topic that causes way too many friends to become enemies. Suffice it to say, religion is like bung holes, everyone got one and most of them stink. Too many subdivided denominations if you ask me. The big guy upstairs knows how I feel and what I think, and that is all that really matters. Faith comes from within, I don't care what you wear to church on Sunday, just remember, when ever 2 or more are gathered together in my name I am there also. And the only problem I have with ANY religious scripture, is that they are written by man, and I think we all can see what happens when man puts his "facts" down on paper. .57 caliber handgun anyone?
  7. Congratulations, now go to the local shop and rob and pick up some beer. Because you can not because you want to. Then come home, remove the gun and have one. This is an important day in your life.
  8. No worries, Mate. It was an interesting protest.

  10. Len - while I agree that she has lost one of the greatest gifts our creator has bestowed upon us, her methodology in getting her point across was wrong. I agree - you have the right to freedom of speech, and while I don't like what you are saying, I will fight to the death your right to say it. Cindy Sheehan used the death of her son to gain fame and notoriety. She got both and then got passed aside like yesterdays newspaper. Granted, if you haven't read it, it's still news. I don't agree with your point about "she more than almost anyone has earned the right to speak her mind." I lost a family member on 9/11, does that give me more right to "hate" the terrorist than any one else? I don't think so, I think we all have the right to "hate" terrorist, asparagus, or anything else as long as that hate doesn't turn in to non-warranted physical violence. In other words, if I hate someone because they eat asparagus, I cannot fight them for that, if they however throw asparagus on me then I have the right to return force with force. Cindy camping out at the Presidents farm in Texas was a media ploy. She embraced it and sought it out. She could have just as easily written letters/emails/flyers etc and sent them to the President, but that wouldn't have gotten her on the front page of the newspapers and 15 minutes on ABC news. Grass Roots - sure, go out and plant the seeds. I will help you as long as our views coincide, other wise plant away and I will do what I can to keep the government from mowing it down. But no one, NO ONE, has any MORE rights than ANY ONE else.
  11. I would think that the "loop hole" as you are calling it would be pretty narrow. I am trying to think of a scenario that would not be a justified shooting, but then I start coming back to what constitutes unlawful activity and I am starting to get scared. I think clause 2 is referring to Bounty Hunters. Clause 4 worries me because how can anyone say what a person truly knows or "should have known."
  12. Congratulations on finally getting it. That feeling you had was the same one I had. Though I did think about a few people "just knowing" that I was carrying. Now it is second nature and the only thing I give a thought to is, "I hope I don't have to use it." Congrats, just remember, let's be safe out there.
  13. As I read TN law, Hyder could have been shot the moment he illegally and forcibly entered the dwelling. TN Law states that unless it is a member of the household or family member, deadly force is allowed because you can assume that the person breaking in will do you bodily harm. I could be wrong though.
  14. Yeah, I actually had forgotten all about Ms. *****h3@d. Oh well, I guess she will do anything to be in the limelight if only for a second.
  15. No one answers the door at my home if we don't recognize the car. Police aren't called, but no door is answered and if you try to come in, the alarm will be triggered and the cops will be on their way. Brinks and my wife and I know our code word. If I say the wrong thing, they know to send the cops.
  16. Well, in case you couldn't tell I too am a Saints Fan. Welcome to the boards and to TN. The Can didn't bring you did it? My family is from all over the area of New Orleans. Metarie, Lulling, River Ridge, Bute etc. I love going down to visit family, but to be 100% honest, you can keep the city (except when the Saints are playing.) Too many days have been spent on Bourbon, Charter, Magazine, Decatur, Tolouse etc. for it to bring much excitement to me anymore. I hope the streets are a little cleaner now.
  17. A poem by Curt Kloninger that I found when I was in high school. Still has truth to it today.
  18. Well a quick answer to number 4 and 5. Yes, a business owner is well within his rights to post his store as off limits to gun holders whether permitted or not. Remember, a businessman reserves the rights to refuse service to anyone as long as the refusal is not based on gender, race, sexual orientation or anything else that could bring about an EEOC lawsuit (I realize he isn't an employer of his customers, but those are good guidelines for how you can and cannot refuse service to someone.) Is a permit holder required to comply with the posting? As long as the posting is in the format found in the regulations. Will you go to jail if you don't? Probably not on the first offense, but if you persist, they will probably ding you with trespassing. Tennessee does not make a distinction between open and concealed carry. My permit (as do all permits in this state) reads Handgun Carry Permit, not Concealed Weapons Permit. This was actually written this way to allow people to carry openly and in the event that their clothing concealed part of the firearm they could not be charged with carrying a concealed weapon. I may be off on that one, but I am 99.8% sure open carry (with a carry permit) is legal. I have done it on a number of occassions near police officers and have not had any problems. 39-17-1351The permittee shall have the permit in the holder's immediate possession at all times when carrying a handgun and shall display the permit on demand of a law enforcement officer. This means if the officer asks for it, you better hand it over. You don't have to offer it, but if he asks, give it to him.I hope that clears up a few things for you. Most of this was taken from Packing.org
  19. I wonder how many people rushed out of the office today to get a jump on their 3 day weekend and don't give a rats behind for the reason. I feel MOST days of observance now are only a reason to "party hearty" and drink beer/eat bar-b-que. Remember, because of the sacrifices of a few, the many have the freedoms they deserve.
  20. The question becomes, what is unlawful about their asking you for it. If they take it, that is seizure and would be unlawful. I think a lot of this would depend on the scenario. I am walking down Beale Street minding my own business and Johnny Law decides to hassle me for no reason, no knowledge of a gun on my person or a permit. He comes up and starts patting me down. This would be a violation of my rights as I am in a place where I have a lawful right to be and was committing NO crime. Under those circumstances, I would still comply with the officers orders all the while trying to find witnesses and getting as much information about the officer as possible. I agree, I would much rather fight this in court where I can show up as a good citizen that is law abiding against a police officer who was in the wrong rather than being Johnny Bravo and becoming a nutcase that was looking for a fight.
  21. If a police officer is trying to harrass you, get name, badge number and precinct. Comply with their demands as long as they are lawful demands. A police officer telling you to give him a BJ is not a lawful demand. A police officer asking for your permit and your firearm is lawful.
  22. Welcome to the group. It seems like only yesterday I joined, now I am an old vet and enjoying it everyday.
  23. When people sit down and watch "Reality TV" I wonder if they realize they are being played? I don't watch the news and that is the only thing "real" on tv. American Idol (from what I understand) was "sabotaged" by Howard Stern to prove that he was the "King of all Media." Real World? Yeah, 7 "beautiful people" picked to live in a house and show what it's like when people "start being real." Yeah Right. When was the last time 7 20 somethings were able to live in a "fat pad" in the middle of some of the most expensive cities when they don't have a "real" job. Oh and they get to take a "vacation" because it is so stressful being them. The Bachelor/Apprentice? A bunch of crap. Yeah, Donald Trump really needs a TV show to choose the person to run his companies and some dude (or chick) is really going to find their "perfect match" in the dregs of people that the network has picked out for them. Cops - okay, that was a good show when it came out and they followed one precinct for a week going in to their "personal" lives. Now we just go and pick out the "juicy" arrests from around the country. I am sure there are a lot more "reality" tv shows out there, but they sicken me so I will move on. I have nothing but the utmost respect for our men and women who put themselves in harms way so I can sit here in my air conditioned office typing on a nice computer with fast internet access. God Bless them all. Thank you and have a nice day.
  24. Anybody see V is for Vendetta? I finally got to watch it this weekend. Not a bad movie and the end is what I would like to think would happen if the American citizens actually stood up in formidable numbers and "marched" on Washington D.C. or their local State Capitals. Watch it if you haven't. I know it is liberal propaganda to some degree (banning homosexuality and all) but there is a good moral there.
