  1. yeah, definitely let us know how it works for you. i keep seeing them pop up in some local classifeds and am curious about their performance and reliability.
  2. I like that seller.
  3. Wow, i guess I was getting erroneous advice then. thanks for clearing that up guys.
  4. cool, please do. i've been scouring the net with no explanation in sight.

    S&W- M&P .40

Have you had problems with the 9c? I'm getting more and more interested in these the more I learn, and I'm thinking about getting a 9mm as a range gun to save on ammo.
  6. I'd be interested in meeting you guys and shooting for a while. Owl hollow is just right down the road from me as well. How much does it cost without a membership? Or can members bring an unlimited number of guests? And Gun City only has like 8-10 lanes, which are 3 feet or less wide, so brass bounes right off the wall and i've caught more than a few hot cases in the face, so it's probably not optimal.
  7. Is there any way to determine if an estate sale will have firearms from the advertisement? I doubt it, but I'd like to hit a few just for kicks, and maybe stumble on a decent deal. And once I did find an old Springfield circa 1930 .410 that I bought for $20 at a yard sale. After a good cleaning I tested it by (don't laugh...) tying a string to the trigger, setting sandbags over the breech, and standing about 50 feet back to fire it. It fired about a dozen times, so I shot it some more from the shoulder. It's been just fine, so I'm hanging on to it for my youngest sister when or if she's interested in learning to shoot skeet.
  8. Has anyone emailed any of the companies that won't ship to Tennessee? That seems like a logical step I'd take if no one else has yet.
  9. I've always heard not to leave magazines loaded for extended periods of time, because the springs will eventually stay somewhat compressed and not have the force to feed properly. I keep at least one of my handguns always loaded for home defense, as well as a shotgun. I think the shotgun shouldn't be as much of a problem, but how long can I keep a mag loaded without risking it not feeding when I need it to? Right now I've been alternating mags, keeping one or two loaded for a couple or three days at a time, then unloading and swithing to other mags for a few days. I'm sure that different mags' springs behave differently, but is there a general rule to follow?

    S&W- M&P .40

They have one in .357 sig. I haven't fired it, but I've shot the .40 and absolutely loved it. From what I understand though there were some FTFs and other issues with the first batches manufactured, although most of the kinks are worked out. .357 here http://tinyurl.com/59w2y9
  11. Out of curiosity, how are Charter Arms guns in general? I've heard bad things from one buddy, but seen some good on the net. Did he just have a bad gun or are there inherent problems like with older Taurus automatics?
  12. wow i never knew it was that significant a difference. i need to look into a 9mm now. and HonestAK, i just got into handguns about six months ago. it was tough to choose a gun, hearing so many different opinions and suggestions. i never heard i could rent guns, so i shot the few i could and ended up with a gun i thought i liked. after shooting some others, i've found there are many guns i like much more for about the same price, or a bit higher. i've sold that first handgun and collected a few more, and i'm still not sure i have the right guns for me. i think i'll always be able to find one i like better. bottom line you should rent, borrow, and shoot as many guns as you can until you find something you like, then buy it.
  13. is that all? wow, i should run lol. iirc it's several thousand bucks or more signatures for a national election, so state offices are a steal!
  14. nice gun! glad you finally found one.

    Milled AK's

    Milled AK's

sorry for the idiocy, but how do you tell the difference just looking at one? is it possible, or is it based on manufacturer and year or something?
  17. i wish. i feel lucky to have been able to sign to make nashville an english-only goverment. it never should have been anything other than in english.
  18. i certainly hope not. if i recall it isn't expensive or labor intensive to get a name on the ballot for a state office. hey, maybe i should run. i have a decent grasp of the english language (except my disdain for capitalization in a casual forum), a rudimentary understanding of some aspects of tennessee and federal law, and a healthy dose of common sense. now if i had the money to back that up...
  19. i've found some comp-tacs that i like, but ordering online without having held or worn it seems undesirable. does anyone have any recommendations or know a place locally with a decent selection of holsters? i've been to a few chain stores, and friedmans in nashville, with no real luck. like i said, it has the milspec rail so it doesn't like some of the g21 or g21sf holsters for guns with no/standard rail. thanks. i actually got a cheap uncle mikes owb holster to try it out. i think it would fit the rail with longer screws separating the two sides at the bottom, but it rubs the hell out of aftermarket tritium sights. i have an email in to comp-tac, any suggestions meanwhile?

    New S&W snub

nice 642. i had a 638 for a bit, and i hope you like it somewhere near as much as i liked the 638. i liked the option of having it s/a. and +1 on the nemesis holster as well
  21. nice point. unfortunately i'm not old enough to remember anything of it, and whatever research i've done on revolutionary cuba is limited. someone should have an idea here. anyway, i should email that to my friends who support obama. i think they're intelligent enough too see the meaning if they're not blinded by rhetoric. besides, it isn't saying 'don't vote for him', which would 'offend' them. it's just saying, 'be aware of what this will really change.' i think they could grasp that.
  22. one more fool i won't be voting for.
  23. wow. i know memphis is a racially screwed up city, having spent a few years there myself...but this is absurd. and as we all know, and has been said above. this would be no different than apologizing for something that someone who LOOKED like my ancestors did far in the past. I, AND NO ONE ELSE IN THIS COUNTRY TODAY, HAS OWNED A SLAVE. WE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG. NO ONE IN THIS COUNTRY TODAY IS OR WAS A SLAVE, YOU DON'T DESERVE ####. DROP IT.
  24. cool, thanks punisher
  25. nah, i'm certainly not asking for specifics on who shot who, when and where etc. i or anyone else doesn't need to know. i'm just looking for pointers on how to be more prepared, or any other info. and punisher, i'm still looking for that other thread. thanks.
