    New to Glock

Silly question? What is a "Glock"? Is this a off beat term for some other gun I may know under another name? Congrats I am sure you will be happy with your Glock.
  4. Ok I am looking for some of you out there that has used a Red Dot Scope on your handgun. Is it worth the time and cash to buy one? Have you bought one and found out you can shoot just as good without the scope? I guess I am trying to talk myself into buying one but I hate to buy something Ill not use after I get it. Thoughts, Comments, and views please……… Thanks

Sell those " darn bulky wood grips" many out there love those wood ones. You can get around 100$ for them and then buy a set of Hogue Extreme Aluminum Grips. They sell around 140$. They are checkered for a positive, slip free grip surface and a bit thinner.
  6. Hummm.. looks like a quick trip to wallyworld is order.....

    Cleaning Guns

Field stripping after each time a gun is fired is good. Detail strip and clean is good when ever you feel the need. For me most times around 1000 rounds. This allows me to see how things are wearing and may even warn you of an up coming problem such as cracks or improper fitting on parts. Plus allows you to know your gun better. So I see no harm in getting Intimate with your gun. Plus if you ever decide to sell your beloved gun the next owner will see how much you cared for her. Kinda like buying a used car. You can tell what cars have been washed and waxed VS. one that was only washed when it rained. (by the rain) Just remember “cleaning” is not always Scrubbing till your fingers turn red.

    My new AR

Nice. One day I want to get into a AR or AK. I may wait to late .
  11. What cal should i use .. dang... to many to pick from. .22 380 9mm 357 40 44mag 45
  12. You asked: I see nothing wrong at all with a 9mm. I carry anything from a .22 to a .45 according on where I am and what I am doing. Are you asking about "stopping power" or Killing Power? As long as it is reliable I have no worries to carry any gun.
  13. ahhh to be that age one more time.
  14. I notice in the classified section a lot of sellers offer only FTF. I have seen a lot listed like this on other forums also. My question is: What is the problem or big deal to ship? If I had a gun for sale id not knock myself out of a sell over not wanting to ship. My FFL here in town only charges 10$ plus the acual shipping cost to another FFL and uses USPS priority and only runs around 10-15$
  15. I had the good fortune of buying back the very first handgun I ever bought. Back in the mid 70’s (around 1973-74) I bought my first revolver at a local Bait N Tackle shop when I was 13 years old. The lady who ran it had asked me when I was eyeing the gun to make sure my dad was ok with me buying it. I returned a few weeks latter after saving enough to buy it and she took me at my word that Dad had said it was ok. (As I did ask him) I then sold the gun a few years latter to a man at my church. I remembered the gun a few weeks ago and asked the man if he still had it and found out his daughter had it now. She agreed to sell me back the gun. So after 30 plus years I now have my first handgun back. It is nothing special being a 6 shot revolver 4†Iver Johnson 22 Mag But the gun is still in nice condition and brings back old memories of plinking away afternoons and Saturdays. I haven’t re-shot it yet but I will soon. I thought some might enjoy my little story and a few pictures of a gun not seen around much these days.
  16. I dont own one. But looks like a good price and a lot of fun to shoot.
  17. Thanks everyone. Its and old tip my dad always did with wood stocked guns and I guess the reasons are what a few have posted. Not that any of my guns are worth alot. Just habit. Plus the front row can be removed at the ready to fire position faster? Also it will give you a bit more room if you have alot of guns? Packin: It was around 700$ with taxes and setup.
  18. Thanks everyone for your input...... Ok I went and did it….. I bought a new safe from my local Co-Op. It is a 22 gun safe. Measure 30W x 24D x 59H. I got what I think was a good deal. The sales tax pushed it a bit over what I could of bought online for. But hey…… some one has to help out the government and they even brought it to the house and set it in the old Man Cave. Its nothing special but it feels my needs for now. Here are some images. (poor ones) The racks for the long guns are a bit tall and almost don’t hold my long guns. (Levers) I guess ill be cutting that down a bit.
