  1. I think the ones Walmart currently have are better than the "Enviro-flow" ones they were selling for a while. I have one of those round ones that they sell at TSC which seems to work pretty well.

I don't know about stabilizer but I used some non-ethanol that had been in my basement for 8 years to replace some ethanol gas that had gone bad over the winter in my mower and it fired right up.

As an interesting aside, those Nato cans are based on a German design and they were much sought after by British troops in the war as their cans were prone to damage and hard to carry. It actually got to where the Germans would leave behind booby trapped cans.

  2. I like the idea of fuel cells but this seems like the wrong application. I already have a battery pack with a li-ion battery that is charged by USB or the large solar panel on the side. I also like the picture in the kickstarter page where the fuel cell is being used to charge a phone in the car and is sitting literally two inches from the cigarette lighter (for which adapters can be had for $1 off of ebay).

And aren't the band going to have something to say about the name?

  3.

This is what we have in mind:

I'm certainly no expert but this looks like those people operating the rifle range would have to walk past the line-of-fire of those using the pistol ranges (albeit they would be somewhat protected by the berms) I wonder if it would be better to have berms along the outside of the pistol areas and have a path that runs along the side of the rifle berms?

  4. Yep, or skip the phone books and rig up some football pads, some soccer shin guards on your arms and legs, and you're good to go. Kind of like Glenn's riot gear, but lighter. No need to stop heavy impacts, just teeth. Toss in a hockey neck-guard and you're pretty much zombie proof. Hot in the summer, sure, but you could kit up when you have to face them if you keep good sight lines.

    How about some boot soles?

  5. Can't fault you for it though. It's something that has pretty much infiltrated the dieting zeitgeist. I only looked into it because it didn't make sense and I had some success when I was dieting with having a very low calorie day whenever I could bring myself to it.

Our bodies are pretty smart (other than not knowing when to stop accumulating fat) and entering a "starvation mode" when there are plenty of fat stores to burn would be a counter-survival tactic. Similarly with burning muscle before fat.

  6. Nope. If you're not in fear of your life, you shouldn't be going for your gun. If you are in fear of your life and you don't go for your gun, I'm sure you'll feel good lying in your casket that you avoided standing trial.

If you want to study the tactics of actual situations, that's a totally different thing.

(Of course, you do whatever you think best. I'm just saying the way I see it).

  7. The short version is: mental preparation. It helps condition your brain to act rather than freeze if you've already thought it through - which is a far greater problem than most people are willing to admit to themselves. That's why as a LEO one of the first classes that I took at the MHP Academy was Red Handled Gun which trains you to rapidly transition from yellow/orange to red.

For sure. But that's a bit different from case law.

  8. I asked my wife about this before posting. She is a nurse with a specialty in wellness.  A 700 calorie a day diet is not good for your health.  It's probably okay for a week or so, but after that, there are potential problems. You are burning muscle, not just fat and the body needs muscle to burn fat. Over time, your metabolism can slow down drastically because it thinks you are in a survival mode. When your metabolism slows down, you burn less calories than a normal person and the slow down can be permanent AND cause health issues. Look at what has happened to some of the contestants in the biggest loser.

I think the "muscle not fat" and "starvation mode" things have been thoroughly debunked. The starvation mode idea was based on people who actually were starving and had something like 2% body fat.

  9. So is there case law that demonstrates what "reasonable fear of serious bodily harm" would be here in Tennessee? My guess is that it is completely subjective to whom is making the judgement, but I thought it would be worth the discussion amongst the forum's legal experts.

Why try and second guess yourself? You are either in fear of serious bodily harm or not. Deal with it honestly and then face the outcome.

  10. The ghosts talking nonsense/flashback/foreshadowing/dream sequence stuff.  I hate it.

I want zombie killing and lots of it.  Being surprised and running from zombies is entertaining as well.  All this "feeling" and so-called "character development" is ridiculous.  I want action.

I do think they put a lot of their budget into that shot with Rick shooting the walker through the shoulder and head this week.

  11. FYI...The running time on this week's episode with all the commercials removed was 43:17, including the brief preview of next week.

That's not out of line. I think I usually reckon on an average of 42 minutes.
