  1. Something else that occurs to me is that when you put up a gunbuster sign, you are bringing the image of a gun into the consciousness of those who see it. That alone might be enough to make the antis nervous. So not only are you driving pro gun owners away, you may be turning the people who you hoped would be with you from your doors too.

So the old signage might actually be better from that point of view. But far better just not to worry about it anyway, of course.

  2. I had a written letter to inform the license plate issuing office telling them of the seriousness of my need and they issued me a license plate and all I do is put the new stickers on it each year. If they wanted to crack down on the abuse quit giving out a plaque to everyone that walks in and asks for one and make them get metal license plates. That way they cannot move it from one vehicle to another because that is illegal for sure and they won't be able to move a plaque from one vehicle to another for a quick trip to the store like many people are doing.....................jmho

But people are not permanently attached to the one vehicle. I know I might be using any of four different vehicles on any day (I am not disabled but I think it's valid for illustrative purposes).

For those who don't think there needs to be some back pressure on the placards being given out like candy though, you are the ones being disadavantaged when all the spots are filled up. Ideally, the honor system would be all we needed because it's pretty ####ty to be parking in those spaces if you don't need to but apparently, that isn't working these days. I mean, from my own personal situation, they could print them on the back of Walmart receipts and I'll just continue using the regular spaces. It's the people who really need it who are disadvantaged by too easy access.

There's little reason the placards couldn't have a picture of the registered holder printed on them these days though. That might not lead to many extra people getting caught for abuse but might act as something of a deterrent.

  3. Everyone should have the number to the local police and sheriffs departments of any town that they frequent in their cell phone.

Hmm, that gives me an idea for an app.

Though what might be good would be if the disabled signs had a number to report transgressors listed on them.

  4. I grew up in the days before video so pretty much you got what was given which was usually The Sound of Music or a Bond flick. Decided to start watching Bond from the beginning a while back so it's likely to be some "From Russia with Love". I think we're also planning to catch the Hobbit at the local theater. What's on your "to watch" list for Christmas day?

  5. I think there are some systemic issues with law enforcement in this country. It's not so much that some cops misbehave (that will happen with any profession) but that often, that bad behavior is seen to go unpunished. This is not a racial issue in and of itself.

However, for various reasons, including, for many, a victim mentality, a vocal segment of the black population is choosing to see this as directed at them.

Both are issues that need to have resolutions. Trying to pin down just one thing as the issue is a mistake IMO.

  6. But they won't and that's the problem.

I want a smartphone without paying a $40/month access fee for data.  Where can I find that?  I can't because "the people" are too complacent in just paying whatever is asked....same reason cable tv costs so freaking much....and everything else.

I'm not sure I completely understand the billing but it looks like tracfone let you pay for "minutes" and you can use minutes for data or pay for extra data on top. If you're mostly in range of a wifi router, that seems like it could work out well. Considering it for my daughter but I think there may be a catch I'm missing.

  7. May be here is where we start and make a stand. We all get on the same page and demand pay per channel, cancel service till it's done and of course get everyone wen can to do the same.

I cancelled mine (actually Dish) about 10 years ago. Haven't missed much.

  8. Ah.. the purple unicorn a la carte of cable, how sweet it would be to only be able to flip through Discovery, History, HBO & Showtime and not even have another channel show up on the TV... of course at 10% of the cost we pay now.

Forget the channels in fact. Just pay and download for shows directly. Individually or get a season pass. You'd never see a show cancelled because a network exec wanted to "make his mark" again.

  9. I didn't realize seeing the Sig brace was that important. :)
The brace was shown in some of the other pics so I wasn't worried about capturing it. Was really just showing off the rail, cerakote job.

Yeah, nothing wrong with the pics you have. It's not particularly about the brace, I just like to see a "big picture" kinda thing to see how it all works together. :)

  10. Here is a few better pics. Was all in the camera settings, Motorola camera app and defaults are terrible. Photos were taken in the exact same location and same lighting.

Just a suggestion but you could do with backing up a little to get the whole gun in for at least one picture.

  11. I like

Blackstone and Yazoo both. Of course not every offering but they make some good stuff.

Also you should go to The Pharmacy and get some real good German brews on tap. If you need a friend just holler I'm always game :)

I like the beer at Granite City, but the food is pricy and a little underwhelming.

I tried going to the Pharmacy with a friend the other week for a spot of lunch but the line outside was ridiculous. So be prepared to wait (we ended up going elsewhere). I believe they're also gun-unfriendly too if that's an issue.

  12. But, the TBI pulled services in 5 counties??? From the spectator seats, it looks like the TBI director may get his pee pee whacked really hard. I reckon there's a trascript of the meeting, right?

I would think a transcript could be needed. It's quite possible the director is deliberately interpreting something the DA said more literally than was meant. Like Peejman says, "If you can't do it right, **** off" or something and wording his letter as if it was an official request. The way it's written has the stink of passive-aggressive about it.
  13. I third calfkiller. Blackstone is also a favorite of mine. Cool springs brewery has a good one every so often too.

I'll even toss in a nod for jackalope. They're making some pretty good beer.

The jackelope has been the one I've had the last couple of times I've been out. Good beer.

I wish I liked the Yazoo but it just doesn't do it for me.
  14. At the times I need to run a generator, the electricity is more important than the noise.  My neighbor may curse me but I can't hear it over the noise of the generator.  During past outages I've offered to let him plug an extension cord into my generatoer but I will not make that mistake again.

Sounds like there's a story there.

  15. Many Americans* have had a sense of entitlement and have joined unions (which forces the cost of wages and hence employing American workers up) and voted in governments with ever-increasing spending plans (which pushes taxes up which forces the cost of employing American workers up). This is what you get.

(*Not just Americans, this is an epidemic across the west).
