  1.   I'm standing with the 1/3 of the supreme court that disagrees.
  2.   He's the kind of guy whose job sucks so he kicks the dog.
  3.   They made it illegal to take the bayonet off of my SKS.
  4. Wimps :)
  5. Why is it the left get all butthurt when you call their party the "Democrat Party" but go strangely silent when you try to get them to do use the correct name for the party in power in Germany from 1933 to 1945?
  6. Cops are supposed to be public servants. If I haven't done anything wrong and there aren't extenuating circumstances (like I match the description of someone who has done something wrong), I should not be forced into interaction with the police *at all* and I find it offensive to my sense of liberty when I am. (Triply so for paramilitary outfits like border patrol)
  7. Assuming you, your loved ones and your neighbors get through unharmed, probably.
  8.   Not like the SC hasn't been wrong before.   I just checked and that decision went 6-3 so it's not like it was unanimous.
  9.   In this scenario you describe, the goal is not survival but to remove criminals.
  10. I think he's all that and kinda dumb too. He's smart at what he's good at which is smarm and manipulation but his thinking rarely seems to go beyond how to climb the next rung of the ladder. And he's almost run out of ladder to climb (Excepting "Ruler of Earth", "Grand Poobah of the Known Universe" and "Messiah").
  11.   About as logical as them setting up an arms and ammunition manufacturing business so they can rob grannies pensions in back alleys.
  12. Meh, if they have it and it won't sell, they'll lower the price. I hate that prices are high at the moment (though I'm trying to find the opportunity to shoot what I *do* have) but when there's a shortage, it's only to be expected. I'd rather the retail places (and manufacturers) sold high than the scalpers make the profit. Keeping prices artificially low discourages increases in production (just ask the Russkies)   The new place in Cool Springs had 22 last time I went in. Prices were a little high for what I want and it looked like a "boutique" round but they seemed more reasonable than this.   Embrace the free market, people. Don't go all Bush on me.
  13. Border patrol (100 miles inland) and DUI checkpoints are arguably unconstitutional. Whether the cop is "just doing their job" is besides the point.
  14.   He should stall and let the investigators do their jobs. In a couple of months, there will be a new shiny anyway.
  15.   Well, you're assuming armed. It depends on why the invaders are invading (You can't know this but you might have information that gives you reason to believe one thing over another). I'm certain that for certain invaders, knowing they will face alert, armed opposition could cause them to retreat. They are criminals, they are likely dumb but probably not completely irrational. If they can perform their deed at a less risky location, they may retreat (perhaps we should shout out the address of a known gun control advocate :) ). Or they may not.   And a lot of other factors play in as well. The layout of your house, the location of your family, whether you have a good defensive position, the outcome of other similar invasions in your location, whether you have enemies or something people would want to steal and likely a dozen other things. All I'm saying is that if your aim is survival and your first instinct is to Rambo up, you may want to examine that a little longer.
  16.   Devil's advocating on this: The law presumes that the threat to life exists. That does not mean that there actually is that threat to life.   As to whether you /should/ retreat if you can. Well, that's a personal call in my opinion. I think it's not a bad idea to cultivate an "easy come, easy go" attitude to material possessions but I know I have my own lines. Another of those things where many things play into it. Personally I think we could do with a few less criminal types in the world.
  17.   Gotta agree with Robert here. Some seem to have this fantasy going on where the bad guy doesn't shoot back. Or doesn't have a partner. Or flying bullets don't hit targets they weren't intended to.   Look, if you're hunting for ears to nail to your bedpost, more power to you. If you're looking to survive another day to provide for your family, you might want to be more realistic about how things can play out.
  18.   How do you know that he was actually cleaning it though? (Not calling you out, just curious). That certainly sounds "suspicious" to me.   I'm with Vontar, step 1 is unload but also step 2 is field strip/open. I guess there's a little more room for error with a revolver but I can't imagine cleaning without popping the cylinder open.
  19. So, how is it living next to Joe Biden?
  20.   Of course. The discussion is about the best way to do so. It may be that encouraging the bad-guy to leave without a gunfight would be better than hoping that things will go well when the bullets start flying. There are so many factors that could play into this, including ones that wouldn't be evident until the event, that I'm not confident saying one-way or another.
  21.   What? No, that's not how that is delineated *at all* !
  22. But a hazmat cleanup team is more expensive then fixing a broken window,
  23.   Yup. If you want to play with your gun, take it to a range and shoot the damn thing.   This is one reason I'm not a big fan of safeties. I keep my guns ready to go at the pull of a trigger (when loaded*) and always treat them that way.   *And even when they're unloaded, they're loaded.
  24.   Possibly they already know you are there. The verbal warning would let them know you're awake and alert. That might be enough to scare them off. Or not.   I doubt this is one for which there is a "right" answer.
