I've seen several handguns come from CDNN and J&G rated as very good and look like . Now, I'm not saying every gun but I have seen enough that I have doubts. They could argue they were mechanically very good but I found that kinda deceptive advertising. Summit will tell you straight up what it is.

Summit is located in Grain Valley, MO. Wouldn't do you any good to drive that far as you cannot buy a handgun out of state and pick it up there(unless you have your own FFL). I have talked with Mark and bought several from him, he is a great guy, he tells me after nearly being shot a couple of times he gave up his store front business and just sells on the internet now anyways. I don't think he even has a store open to the public. He will ship a prepaid item to any local FFL holder though and if he says the gun is clean or in good shape you can trust him, unlike some others with initials like J&G, CDNN, not to mention names or anything. I get all mine shipments sent to Phillip at Bellshire Hardware on Dickerson Road here in Nashville. Phillip is a good fellow to deal with and he gets items from Summit all the time so his FFL is already on file with them. OOPS, thought you were asking about Summit, misread it. Good info anyways. Post, Postscript, I see that Robertson Trading Post is in Henderson, I will have to check that out myself as I go to Lexington, TN all the time.
  3. I have never tried this but if/when I do I think I would use standard 1 hour or 12 hour epoxy or golf shafting epoxy(same thing). I have used it several times to repair stocks and other wooden items and it works really well. It is hard but still just ever so slightly flexible but not compressible, plus it has a more clear-ish(light tan/whitish) color to it. JB's is very black/gray.
  4. Some of my favorite things to do is to shoot very small objects at long range...say 50+ yards and by small I mean small cartridge cases, toy soldiers, shotgun shells laid longways, etc. I have a Browning A bolt 22 with a Millet Silver 6x18, a CZ 452 22LR w/Weaver V16(favorite), CZ452 22Mag w/Tasco 3x12, Marlin 39A with a Williams Receiver Sight. A favorite with the Marlin is black walnuts, I have a black walnut tree right at the 50 yard mark behind the house and they are laying on the ground next to a creek. Great fun. Nothing more fun and cheaper than good 22's that hit where you are aiming. That is why I like higher powered scopes. One note here is you can get away with the cheaper scopes on 22's because of the low recoil.
  5. Anyone had a chance to check out the new Para Expert? Looks like my kinda 1911. I just got rid of a black stainless SA because I didn't like having that much money tied up in a 39 ounce gun that I enjoyed shooting but couldn't carry because of the size and weight. This new model has a suggested retail of $599 which means they may be offered for less....at least I hope they will. http://www.para-usa.com/new/product_expert.php
  6. Just noticed the replies. I reload for everything. For you guys it might be the right decision to have 6k...100K of the same bullet. I just like to have a variety of bullets for my my reloading such as my 30-06's, 270's, 6mm's, 45-70's, etc. And I use match bullets for some things, FMJ's for others, Blitz, ballistic tips, SX, etc. I have over 6000 bullets right now in reloading room, just not the same 6000.
  7. Well I just traded into about 5 lbs of AA #5 so anybody want to throw out a pet load for that with a cast or copper clad bullet for a Glock (I do have a cut rifled barrel btw)
  8. Full Metal Jacketed bullets still have exposed lead at the base. When one is fired the jacket material engages the rifling and keeps the soft lead contained but small lead particles can still be put into the air by the hot gases pushing on the bullets exposed base. A Total Metal Jacket encases the whole bullet in a jacket and are a better choice for indoor ranges. As to being cheaper, the Blazer ammo is aluminum cased and is usually cheaper to produce than brass cased ammo but can be finicky about feeding.
  9. I believe HP38 is the same powder as WW231 which is one of my favorite powders for the 9mm. Of course you need to follow the manuals and use HP38 Data but it should be fine. I never used Clays but I new a guy that shot 115 grain LRN loaded with 3.9 grains in IDPA. He shot a ton of these threw a Glock 19 with a cut rifled barrel. Again, verify data.
  10. Personally, I would hold up a bit, scrap metal prices are crashing and I may be wrong, but I think bullet prices will have to come down some. At any rate, I am not sure I want 6000 of any one bullet.

    S&W 4013

Just picked up a SW 4013 today. Got an offer I could not refuse. Got it LNIB. Just wondering what peoples experiences have been with this compact 40sw? I have a Glock 27 also and I am a little surprised how close these two are in thickness. I like the SW safety systems though, and I can see how there would be times when one was more advantageous to use over the other. The Glock is shorter both in length and height. It is also lighter, but no external safety. I have always like the SW mag disconnect for home safety(yeah, I know, I will get blasted for that one) but to each his own I guess and the heavier DA first shot is nice when you want to shove the gun into places without a holster. Look forward to doing some side by side shooting comparisons. Was originally going for a 3913 but you take what you can get when you horse trade. Then I lucked into a model 28 but it has Jordan trooper grips. It is a really clean 28-2, exc bluing, now I need some SW grips to make it look right.
  12. I agree with grimel on this. I have had several Kimber Pro Carry's and I had problems with the feed ramps getting beat up and causing feeding problems. Never had that issue with steel guns or guns with ramped barrels....well, I have had feeding problems with somej just not that feeding problem. With that being said, if I were looking for the lightest toughest 45 for cycling, I might have to consider a Glock 30 or 36....I know, this is a 1911 thread.
  13. Get a Dillon....Do a bunch in an hour or so, works for me.
  14. The Millet Silver series 3x9 is a great value, has a lifetime full replacement warranty and only costs about $90. The Nikon Pro Staff seris are very good and can usually be purchased locally for about $120-130ish. I picked up a LNIB 2x7 last show for $70. As to the 22lr, find a good used Bushnell or Simmons 3x9 1" rifle scope for around $30-40 dollars at a local gun show. They are every where at that price. If you can find an older Tasco they are good also but the newer ones are just to junky for my tastes. I have also heard good thing about BSA as 22 scopes but I have not tried them.
  15. I have not cast any in a couple of seasons because of time. I just loaded the last of my Lyman 429421 245 grain Keith bullets in 44 magnum so I am going to have to throw some more soon. I have also been collecting Ruger #1's and I want to start shooting a lot of reduced rifle loads in cast to enjoy the rifles more and lower the cost. I did pick up a couple of 45-70's and I purchased some Laser cast bullets but that is one caliber I am really look forward to casting some big ones in 45. I used to shoot a ton of the 173 grain Keith 358429 bullets in 357, my next move is to pick up a couple of big 357's, thinking SW M28 and/or 686 or Taurus 608 etc, I only have a 3" M19 and 4" GP100 now and I like this bullet better in a 6" or better. Great bullet by the way.
  16. Does anybody remember the deal with Carl Rowan way back in the 80's in DC. They had mandatory sentencing for unlicensed handguns, he was a big anti-gun writer, and he shot a teenager in the hand for being in his pool with his illegal handgun. Best I can remember, he got off scot free. As to this situation, I hope they are forced to sentence him to the max, not because I think he deserves it(he does) but it will draw attention to the stupidity of these laws in the NE US like the Sullivan Law.
  17. I know that....I was joking too....I must not have good timing, huh? :slap:
  18. This is coming from a Kahr man??? I find those triggers scarier than Glocks
  19. I picked up a G26 couple of years back that I kick myself for trading. It had a Timberland Camo finish and I was afraid it would wear poorly over time and look bad. It had chipped in a few spots as it was. It had a 9mm cut rifled barrel with it that was extended. Wasn't what I was after at the time but I probably could have sold the barrel and Duracoated over the camo job....at any rate, it was a g26,
  20. I am sure this has been discussed many times but I finally broke down and bought a G27 to make into a combo pack. Ordered some more G26 and G27 mags from OMB, ordered a 9MM conversion barrel from Lone Wolf, I already have some A&G mag extenders and G19 and G23 mags. Now I need to pick up a cheap G33 357Sig barrel and I will be able to put together the equivalent of a G19/23/26/27/33 (with the G19/23 being a little snubbish) in one package. I always wanted to do that. If it works out, I may order a Lone Wolf extended barrel in 40SW to shoot lead in that caliber also.
  21. I have bought a number of guns off of gunbroker with good results. I agree that it is not the place to common firearms like Glock 23's but for an example, I picked up a older Ruger #1 with a Shilen SS HB 22-250 for $500. To me that was a deal as I knew what it was, what I was looking at, the seller described it well and had lots of pictures. Now I have looked at other guns that were priced cheap but beat up in the pics, by the time I paid shipping, tranfer fees, fixed and refinished them, they would not have been worth the effort. One last thing, if you are like me and you like to haggle and deal, then trying to dig that jewel out of the many deals out there is just fun.
  22. Just a FYI, Bellshire Hardware on Dickerson road has a bunch of bolt bins, square racks with 6 large pull out bins, for $5 each. I bought a bunch and he gave me a good price break. Still got quite a few. My basement is covered in storage bins now....Whoo-hoo!
  23. Phillip at Bellshire Hardware on Dickerson Road had a bunch but I don't know if he still does.
  24. That wasn't directed at you Tuner, I just thought this was funny and I saw BillWilly's spelling post and I wanted to share. I did find it interesting that I could read it the first time I saw it.
