  1. I get the impression from Buford that he would like to see much of the competition eliminated to make it easier for the remaining dealers and trainers to monopolize the market, kinda like Useleton. I liked Buford for the most part though I wouldn't take his class. I see know reason to cram 8 hours into 16 by adding all those war stories.
  2. I have had one Kaboom in a Glock, it was a 40SW and it was factory ammo. I have loaded tons of 40 SW and shot in my 23's, 27's and 22's without a problem. I don't load hot, I use a lot of range brass and like musicman said, it gets lost many times before it gets loaded more that 2-3 times. Tell you what, if anybody has 40SW brass that was fired in a Glock and doesn't want it, I will give you scrap brass price for it per pound if you are in Middle TN. If you are not in Middle TN then we can talk USPS prepaid box price shipping.
  3. I can go along with that to a point, I have had a few bad days and I am a general grouch when I am in a hurry, and I usually stop by these shops while I am running, but you know, my money is green and I have bought guns there before. Granted, I look for deals but when I find one, I buy it. Another thing, I seem to get waited on every where else I go. I think some places get content and just expect you to wait on them. As to the chain stores, they just don't care at all, though I will say I do usually get waited on at Academy....many times they are ignorant but they do try....kinda.
  4. I have had the hardest time lately. I ran into a duffus at Academy Sports(made a post on that) but at least he waited on me. I went into Dicks in west Nashville twice Monday and after waiting 15 minutes the rudest counter girl in Nashville never waited on me, on my way out of the store I saw she was out front smoking. Then, and I know this may ruffle some feathers, but the last 4-5 times I have been to Guns and Leather in Greenbrier I can never get waited on either. I was there today for 20 minutes most of the time leaning against the gun counter and nobody would say hi, bye or kiss my butt. They would walk by, back and forth but nothingwas ever said to me. The last several times I have had to literally yell at them to get a price or ask a question. I will go to Jeff Walle there when I need a gunsmith but I think I am about finished with trying to shop there.
  5. Looking for opinions on a resonably priced shoulder rig for a Glock 27. I have broad shoulders, a slightly pudgy waist and I am not real tall....average 5' 9". Don't have a lot of room in the underarm area. Trying to find some holsters in the $60 - 80 range instead of the $90 to 150 range.
  6. Sorry, my fault, I was just kidding around and somebody got PO'ed. I will try to restrain myself and my jokes.....it will be hard but I will try, doesn't translate well to forums I guess. :poop:
  7. I started with a Lyman Spar T kit circa 1980. Wasn't a very good press and was proud to move up to a Rock Chucker in a few years.
  8. I went by Academy Sports to see what kind of 308's they may have, I did not expect much but sometimes you catch a sale, closeout, etc. Anyways here goes, I ask the counter guy what 308's they have in stock... He points to a Marlin 308MXLR.... I tell him that the Marlin is in 308 Marlin not 308 Winchester..... He tells me it says 308 on the tag so as far as he is concerned it is a 308, it says 308 on the tag and he points this out to me... Once again I try to explain that I am looking for something in 308 Winchester... He tells me they do not stock Winchesters!!! Seriously, he did say this... I try again, no, I am not looking for a Winchester brand rifle, I am looking for a rifle chambered in 308 Winchester caliber.... He looks at me like I have two heads.... I try again, I say 308 Win also known as 7.62x51 NATO.... AHHH, he says, your looking for ammo and points me to the ammo aisle.... This is getting too funny but I am sticking with it, I try again, I try to explain that I want a 308 rifle, that Marlins are not chambered in 308 Win and I am not looking for ammo, would you look through your racks and boxes for a rifle in 308?...... He tells me that what I see is what they have and they must not have a 308, about that time a kid comes from the other end of the counter, grabs a Remington 700 ADL in 308 and sets it up on the counter. Nice kid, took over so I couldn't drive Dumbo crazy anymore with his "Who's on first" routine. I was starting to enjoy it.... I then ran across DrAlarms post on someone selling him a 308 Marlin when he thought he was getting a 308 Winchester. I feel for you man. There are some untrained folks working these retail counters nowadays. Just had to share
  9. So, you are assuming it was a Glock.....it could be a cheap Lorcin, Jennings, Davis, etc. Maybe it was a Colt Mustang that had the safety knocked off. I am offended,,,,,, ,,,, Of course if it turns out to be a Glock,,,,
  10. First call the ATF, it is not illegal to cut a barrel and anybody can do it. Well, maybe not right but they can do it. But all the sources I have ever heard from state from the bolt face with the bolt closed. Run a rod down the barrel with the bolt closed. I would always add a half inch to that to be safe and leave a little trim room if the muzzle was ever dinged.
  11. Eph 6:14 Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, Eph 6:15 and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. I quote this first because the man "claims" to be a Christian. I guess that is between him and God but your life does need to line up with the Word for everyone else to believe you. The belt of TRUTH is what everything hangs on and is supported by(INTEGRITY), the breastplate of righteousness is about having a pure heart and motive(PURITY), and the foundation is peace, do you really think his motive was to make peace in the state house? BTW, that is TRANQUILITY! Do ya think he has and is sharing his tranquility?? Just my views on a very sad and sorry situation for him, his family, his church and the people of TN.
  12. Save yourself and buy a Laser. You can get them cheap now, look for a good HP as you can get rebuilt toner cartridges for half of what other brands go for. I bought a Laserjet 4100N for 40 bucks and have already printed several thousand pages with the toner that came in it. I am sorry for the thread drift but I print a lot of targets....and I will be trying this one also. Now, back to the Armalite. I will say after taking it apart and cleaning it tonight, it is the best built CZ75 I have ever had. There are no tool marks anywhere and it comes apart and goes back together effortlessly. Everything is fitted perfectly.
  13. Ran a couple of mags thru it today just to function test it. Shot fine, I am a little rusty though. Been focusing on the 22 rifles lately. Trigger was a little stiff, Shot a little under point of aim but that could have been my load. I will do a actual sand bagged 25 yard test as soon as I get my new glasses. I can't see a blame thing anymore and I am just turning 47. Either I have to get some good glasses or I am going to have to scope it.....
  14. Picked up a AR24 this weekend, good looking thing it is too. I have had several CZ75/PO1's and like them all. Every time I part with one I wind up regretting it as I have a hard time finding a full size 9mm that shoots as well or reliably and still fits the hand so well. That being said, I hope I can hang on to this one and I have learned my lesson if it shoots like the CZ's. Anybody had one of these before?
  15. Enough on the Glock bashing, not only does it look like a Beretta 92 it doesn't matter. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire is a basic rule and it looks like she broke it. http://www.nrahq.org/education/guide.asp

    Ruger Mini14

I have owned about 5 mini's over the years. Best I can say about them is they are reliable with factory mags and are fun to shoot. Accuracy wise....well, lets just say they were a little better than minute of man but not much better. I saw a Guns and Ammo article some years back where Clark did a make over on a SS mini 14. New barrel, glassed it, trigger work, the whole nine yards....best 100 yard group was 1.7". They just will not shoot with AR's. Most of the AR's I have owned, box stock, shorty's and A2's, will do better than that with just decent ammo.
  17. I wish you would explain this.....I don't get it?
  18. If CZ does it, it is probably right, well, except for the CZ100 IMO http://www.cz-usa.com/product_detail.php?id=95
  19. Welcome, you can find me in Joelton
  20. here are some trajectory tables. http://www.chuckhawks.com/rifle_trajectory_table.htm Article http://www.chuckhawks.com/ultra-long-range.htm
  21. Welcome to the Darkside, Luke! Now you need some barrels from Lone Wolf to shoot lead. PS....I really want a 29
  22. 7mm Remington Magnum is probably one of the most versatile, flattest shooting readily available commercial rounds available. Sure there are some newer super mags available but not everyone carries the ammo and when you find it it is higher than POO! Plus it is available in a lot of great rifles, I have had it in Ruger #1's(what I have now), Winchester Model 70's, Ruger M77's, Browning A-Bolts & BAR's, Remington 700's, Savage 110's, etc, etc. There are others, like the 22-250 Remington, 220 Swift, 6mm remington, 260 remington, 25-06, 270 Win, 300 Win mag, 300 Rem Ultra Mag, as you can see I like a lot of Remington cartridges.
  23. Just noticed that looks like a single shot? Is that a single shot? Please tell me you didn't let that child hunt with a single shot . Why, I should think he would need at least 5 rounds in case he missed, especially with such a small bullet. Alright, next tome he needs a 300 Super magnum special long range custom magnum magnum, in a semi auto with 3 extra mags attached to the butt stock and 2 in his pocket. Must be equipped with a 1.5-40x60 super ranger, Bullet Drop Compensated, Mil-Spec, laser equipped, red dot superduper scope.....mounted in aluminum high/low scope rings of course!
  24. We should be able to deduct Harry Reids salary from our taxes as he is such a blooming idiot that w get no benefit, conservative or liberal, from his service. How can these Senators keep re-electing such a buffoon to the Leaders position. Same goes for Pelosi. I called Jim Coopers office and I reamed somebody out, not for all the liberal agenda votes but for voting for that dim wit.
  25. The 6904 is the same gun as a 6906 but it is alloy indicated by the "4" where as the "6" indicates Stainless steel. Mark at Summit gun broker had a bunch of the 6906's at $289, though they were the older square trigger guards types. You might give him a call to see if a new batch has arrived. http://www.summitgunbroker.com/S_W_6906__289.html I have owned several and I like them a lot. They are well made and very reliable, magazines and holsters are plentiful. I ran across a 3913 which is the same upper with a single stack 8 round lower or I would have kept the 6906 I had. I preferred the thinner profile to the fatter 12 shot double stack for carry.
