My early Christmas Present. Yes they are cheapies, but I wasnt buying for heirloom value. I picked up the pair on black friday @ Academy, and have been aggrivating the Wife enough she gave into my early Christmas requests. Figured I would have 1 for each hand, 1 to shoot with my son when teaching him the basics, and if we dont wear them out, 1 for both my boys(Wife is pregnant with 2nd son). Don't hunt over a baited field in Sumner County
Ghooge2008 replied to MikePapa1's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Is planting green fields cheating? I know shooting over a feeder blatantly is hunting over bait...but what about feeder fields? -
I too used paint which is the "wrong" thing to do to most people that re-do guns...but it has always worked for me, I use engine paint or wheel paint...there is a gunmetal finish in the wheel paint that is more charcoal grey metallic that looks real nice on a barrel...I just use *gasp* a wire wheel in my bench grinder to strip off the finish and any rust that makes the paint look rough. it hold up fine for me....cleaning solvents dont seem to affect it and it holds up good if you let it dry properly, I havent baked it as I typically do it at work, but I have used a propane torch like those little benzomatic ones to warm up the parts and also kinda lightly dust the barrel with heat while it's drying. i did this once to a very beat up break action gun and it held up even with me using the barrel to press down barbed wire strands while I crossed fields....i was trying to see if it would scratch off...and it didnt.

I ruined a pistol trying to blue it. good work, it looks great...I turned a 200 dollar gun into a 75 dollar rusting machine. I even read the directions!

freakin sweet man, congrats. I have been on 2 trips hours away and either my buddies aren't patient enough or we make too much noise when hunting together...I cant even get a glimpse of a yote...on a farm over ran with them! I even bought a .22 Hornet to take them with. If I could find a place (hint hint) and someone willing to show me the ropes...I would definatly provide drinks for the skinning party and steaks for dinner.

I have a good buddy that got his ass kicked by a farmer, he saw an animal...brown, and it was "huge" in the brush...he shot hoping it was a big deer...he shot a cow, and on top of a whoopin, he had to pay market price for the cow...it ended up being an expensive trip. he now makes for sure of exactly what animal is in his crosshairs and doesnt shoot into shapes on the horizon or brush. BTW...an older guy that looks frail and about 100 lbs less than you...can still serve up a serious stompin when he is mad as hell.

back to the original topic: there is a range in Gallatin as posted previously, its attached to a pawn shop thats been in business for years, the gunsmith is knowlegable and helpful. the range is older with manual cable crank system and decent ventilation. there are rumors (I live in Gallatin) of an indoor shooting range that just opened up in Hendersonville on the main drag and also a SECOND Guns and Leather store opening in hendersonville. If time isnt an issue I would HIGHLY URGE you to visit Guns and Leather in Greenbriar...its 30 minutes from Gallatin and is state of the art...everything there is top notch and worth the drive. If you've never been there some of the salesguys seem...how do I put this...cocky...at first..but their not. they are extremely busy there and their not ignoring you...and they seem like no it alls...because they typicaly do(I'm just sayin)...my unbiased opinion. I have found that the more I go there the more I like dealing with them. If i'm buying a new gun or just going for a range trip...It's always the destination in my GPS. If the Hendersonville store is half what their Greenbriar store is, it's going to be the best / closest one around Gallatin.

I posted a while back and still continue to believe, commodities are by far going to be worth more than precious metals. Cigarettes can be kept for a while in a freezer, and who would care if their stale when they haven't had a cig in weeks, liquor keeps well in a cool dry place, toilet paper keeps well if stored dry. I have also added a large fish aquarium to our sons room...It wouldn't be too fun to drink now...but I think it would be better to drink if filtered than nothing, and it's an extra 110 gallons of water inhouse

Smith&Wesson M&P 15-22. Anyone have experience with this weapon?
Ghooge2008 replied to a topic in Long Guns
I had one, sold it to a member here, I loved it, but hated having that much wrapped up in a .22, that and the fact i have 5 .22's laying around. It inst as customizable per say as a 10/22...but there are alot of cool parts since it is based on a mil spec carbine. mine was accurate to aim, but no target rifle. it would shoot a good group and it ate everything i fed it though i did have a few mag snags. they dont recommend using Remington golden bullets but i know people who shoot them just fine...but could damage your extractor. just because I loved the way mine looked with the barrel shroud, extra butt pad, and riser I'll post a picture up...though i am a pic whore and everyone has seen it multiple times! -
I sold mine to another member about a year ago, if you kept it clean it ran fine, ammo was a bit pricey, and it would suck to be the guy wagging this heavy gun around through the trenches....it also put the long....in long rifle. The brass was ruined after firing in mine...it uses the gas to help float the spent case towards ejection.

Darth Vader Robs New York Bank Posted: Jul 23, 2010 12:01 PM CDT SETAUKET, N.Y. (AP) – A man donning a Darth Vader mask at a New York bank has gone to the dark side. Police said the man entered a Chase Bank branch on Long Island on Thursday, displayed a gun and demanded money. A surveillance camera caught the "Star Wars" character wearing a blue cape and camouflage pants. View larger surveillance photos The bandit escaped from the Setauket bank with an undetermined amount of cash. The robbery came about a week after another bank robber, dubbed the "bouquet bandit," held up a Manhattan bank. Authorities said Edward Pemberton used a flower bouquet to conceal a note demanding cash during a $440 bank heist July 15. They said he used a potted plant as a similar prop in a holdup at another bank earlier in the month. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. Been thinking about buying an inflatable boat, mainly the Intex Excursion 5...anyone know any hands on info they could share?? a 500 dollar used zodiac is out of the question...working with a baby on the way budget...it will be used mainly for lake, light river playing...nothing like white water, something like tubing or in place of my canoe...the canoe was way too tippy for the wife to even get comfortable in...it was a plastic 14' pelican...I dont know if it was just us...but unstable as heck! we will proballt be running up on gravel/sand bars in the rivers around middle tennessee...and that is also a concern I have.

I have been wanting a pair of old cowboy style revolvers crossing barrels on my calf....the grips turning outward toward the front of my leg almost touching. it would be large and highly detailed. I had a tattoo buddy draw a set up...and while trying to decide if I liked it...I saw a large lady with a guns and roses tattoo on her arm....without the roses they looked very similar...I decided to wait.

I sold my 308 due to ammo issues...well not ammo issues but wallet issues.

LS, everybody knows a full size plinker is way cooler to fondle than a little cardboard box with a bolt and a mag in it! and desides...with 2 rifles that look almost alike you can dual weild them in the back yard and look cute(22) and dangerous(223).

Mama Deer protecting her fawn from a cat and dog
Ghooge2008 replied to KahrMan's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Thats crazy, the first time I have ever seen anything like this...poor dog..but then again, I keep my doog either in my house or in my fence they should have too. -
I'm still not scarred to carry and shoot my LCR, since its purchase at G&L I have had 200 flawless factory loads, and 40 winchester bonded +p loads out the barrel with no issues or anything and I honestly will continue to shoot it without fear. if you havent shot these things your missing out. the grips have gell and cushion rubber, and the trigger is absolutely smooth and crisp. I love mine! weighed on work scale....1.01 pounds fully loaded!

im interested also! I scored a franken 1911 from guns and leather about a week ago...well, the wife scored it but I get to enjoy it. colt slide, springer frame, every billet part sold at CTD...and beat to high heavens!

I have 2 mavericks. the ones in stores now are good IMO(the older ones have only 1 pump arm... one of mine is older and I havent had any trouble from it either)....I have one with a PG and 18.5 barrel and the other is just regular 24...or 28" ribbed barrel full buttstock. I also have 2 moss 500's I think my old mossy's are not any better but classier with the wood stock. Every Closet in my house has a pump inside hanging over the doors...if the situation arised I wouldnt be partial to either maverick or 500...if it's for HD...then the maverick will do the job.
