  1. Flying lessons?
  2. I learned a little TN law in the HCP class, which I assume is part of the online class. But I already had my NY permit which requires no training just a lot of time and money, and they think handguns are so dangerous that you can not even own one or shoot one till you have a permit. I then took two NRA hand gun classes and the classes for the Utah permit. At least two in our HCP class learned somethings from the live fire, they had never fired a handgun before. They didn't do anything dangerous, so they did listen in class, but did need some help from the instructor. I still believe in constitutional carry, but training should be encouraged.
  3. G-men get rid of old guns. Boston. 1934. See anything interesting?
  4. Welcome to TGO and the neighborhood. I live off 107 up by the Crossroads. Normally use my backyard range but when I want longer distances I go to Scioto.
  5. Finnish soldier with Lahti-Saloranta M/26 light machine gun
  6. I agree, mechanical is my preference also. I limited my last safe shopping based on having a mechanical lock and only found out later I could have swapped out fairly inexpensively. I like what I have but at the time I had wished I researched more because the next model up had some features I thought would be nice. Most of those features were easy to add, so all I lost is about 6" of depth.
  7. Lawman Frank Hamer when he was a 24-year old City Marshal in Navasota, Texas. He gained fame years later as the Texas Ranger who got Bonnie and Clyde.
  8. Boy I feel old with what you guys had for first cars. My first car was a 1949 Crosley Station Wagon that I bought for $100 when I was 13. I spent the next 3 years rebuilding it mechanically. Had it tore down to just a frame on a pair of saw horses then cleaned and painted and assembled. Never got beyond a rattle can paint job for the body when it went on the road to drive the last of my high school years. Here is the hook, I still have it. Rebuild mechanical a second time in the 70s and it is on jack stands in my shop waiting for me to get to a third rebuild.

  12. Sorry was out of town for a day to go to an Aunt's 100th birthday, so didn't get a chance to get on yesterday. I can see that it is the bayonet now. I didn't see the other rifle wit the bayonet and it never occured to me. Good eyes guys.
  13. What is that extra large long gun.
  14. Citroën 2CV based gun car
  15. Welcome to NE TN and TGO. I haven't been over for a while but this is where I go when I want longer distances than my backyard range. If you can manage to go during the week it is usually not crowded. I have heard on weekends it can be hard to get a lane. Never had any problems everyone I have ran into have acted in a safe manner and had no problem when you called for a ceasefire to go down range. It cost $2/car a $1 if you have a Senior National Park card. It is off TN 107 on Scioto Road. Scioto Range Outdoor Pistol (25 Yards), Outdoor Rifle (150 Yards) TN 107 (Scioto Road), Unicoi TN 37692 (423) 735-1500 https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/cherokee/recarea/?recid=34980
  16. Yep I'm lazy. I try to give a good tear down cleaning once a year to all the guns that get shot regularly, the rest of the time it is bore snakes, Q-Tips and swabs to get the worst parts cleaned up. Because I'm lazy I don't get to the full tear down on all my guns every year.
  17. I don't overly soak the barrel and have no problems so I guess I clean often enough not to be a problem. I use a little G96 on the first part of the snake and on the first set of wire bristles. So far never got one stuck. On guns with a mag well I run it up through there and then into the barrel to a little extra cleaning on the way around the corner into the barrel.
