  1. Recently Dontray Mills was charged with 55 counts of purchasing guns with phony Identification and reselling them. According to all the internet resources I can find, he somehow entered into a plea deal with Federal prosecutors whereby he would plead guilty to one charge only and receive nothing more than one year of probation, which was hunky dory with the Federal judge who (mis)handled the case. The total penalties for the charges he got flushed were (10 years per charge) 550 years and 14 million dollars in fines.  (Some accounts say he resold these guns to felons and others prohibited from owning guns, but I can't verify that factually. I wouldn't fall over dead to find out it's true, I just can't document it.)   OK my liberal friends, go ahead and ask me why I won't support new gun legislation as being a serious effort to deter crime. I double-dog-dare you.   http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/09/robert-farago/why-are-gun-control-advocates-up-in-arms-about-illegal-gun-dealers-probation/
  2.   Absolutely. If someone asked me why I carry a big, full sized pistol I'd tell them "because I can't find a holster for an AR 15, that's why." Ditto on the rifle behind the seat too. I'd do it if I could figure a way to keep it from being stolen. I don't think a person who sees storm clouds on our national horizon is being pessimistic, just realistic. IMHO.
  3. I have a couple of ALG ACT triggers and would like to keep some spare hammer/trigger/disconnector springs on board each rifle. Whereas Geissele lists spare springs for its triggers and hammers, ALG doesn't. But the ACT springs  look perfectly stock to me. Can any of you guys see a reason why stock springs wouldn't be called for in the ACT triggers?   Everybody seems to offer stock springs for sale. Any recommendations for good ones?   Thanks for the help.   EssOne
  4. Ordinarily I would agree that the root cause is all the talk about more gun control. But this time is different.   I don't think I've ever seen this country rolled up in a ball as bad as it is right now. Our criminal justice system is coming apart at the seams, inner city riots are the order of the day, Our President, aided by his Attorney General, the Director of the FBI, and the Mayor of New York have succeeded in convincing the criminal element that the cops have no backing, race relations have taken their hardest hit in decades, cops are being slaughtered all over the country and mass murders are rearing their ugly heads again, the most prominent candidate for President in one of our political parties is being openly considered an irresponsible liar and mistrusted by both parties, we're entering into a deal with an enemy nation that half of the politicians in the country denounce as being suicidal - all at a time when our military is being downsized, and worst of all the rule of law is seen as being incinerated on the altar of prosecutorial discretion at the Presidential level............and on and on and on.   I think this country is worried, really worried, and it's showing up in gun sales.
  5.  I ordered two sets of extra springs for the Geissele SSA trigger from the factory today. $12 per set with free USPS shipping. FWIW
  6. I used the Rock River NM trigger until I discovered a record of breakage on a Google search. Which is how I came to buy my first Geissele.
  7. It all depends on what your priorities and intended uses for your rifles are.To me the most important part of a good rifle is a good trigger.  I've tried several AR triggers and have settled on the SSA for guns I use for ranges over 200 yards, and the ALG-ACT for the closer range "duty" carbines. I swallowed hard when I bought the SSA's (two years apart), but I smile every time they allow me to  bounce a bullet off of a 12"x12" steel plate dinger at 240 yards with iron sights. So I would heartily recommend them to anyone setting up a rifle that's basically for 200+ yard shooting or other precision application and who doesn't want a trigger with a really light pull weight common to a lot of target triggers. But I wouldn't recommend one to anyone who is setting up a range banger or an M4gery. I think the ACT is much better suited for these applications, both in terms of pull and money.  (and Palmetto is also marketing a trigger very similar to the ACT for about $30 less. I've used one and they're going to give ALG a run for their money.)   And I really wish I could have gotten one for forty or fifty bucks off. :pleased:
  8. Palmetto is knocking forty to fifty bucks off of the Geissele SSA, SSA-E, and other Geissele AR triggers. This is unheard of. Major YEE-HAW's guys. Major YEE-HAW's! (Except for me - I just bought one for the regular price. :wall: )   http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalogsearch/result/?q=Geissele+triggers
  9.   Having been a cop in California I just have to ask - you are waving your whole hand, aren't you.
  10. Somebody beat you to it down in the General Chat forum. But thanks for posting it anyway neighbor. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/90502-anti-gun-groups/
  11. The fix is not quick or simple. Until the rule of law is reestablished in this country, until absolutes are adopted again - absolutes like right and wrong, good and bad, moral and immoral, proper and improper, decent and indecent, until we say that morals, principles, ethics, and standards aren't situational and conditional after all, when we can once again say that we are all accountable to God and our fellow man for our conduct, and that such accountability is the bedrock of our society, this will not stop.   It has taken us fifty years to get in this condition, there is no express lane out of it.
  12. I don't OC and won't OC for all kinds of reasons, and this sort of thing is one of them. You can't prosecute most false 911 calls because nobody can ID the caller, and the evidence gathering process would tie down investigators for an inordinate amount of time.  Even at this late date you still can't prosecute a telephone.....you have to establish the case by investigation and that drains away a lot of resources.
  13.   Governor of California you do. Everything is a foreign nation out there.
  14. The police academy/law school definition of "reasonable cause" is: "That set of circumstances which would lead a man of ordinary reason and prudence to entertain a strong suspicion that a crime has been committed."
  15. When you are stopped for a traffic violation, that is an arrest and a release upon your giving your written promise to appear at the stipulated time and place to answer the charges. i.e. your signature. That's why traffic tickets aren't labeled "Traffic Ticket.' They're labeled "Notice to Appear.", "Promise to Appear." "Traffic Summons," and so on. That's also why you have to go to jail if you refuse to sign the ticket in a lot of states - you've refused to give your promise to appear and the law requires a physical arrest under that circumstance.   The best advice I can give you is cooperate now and complain to the officer's supervisor later.
  16. If anyone wants a more serious and comprehensive understanding of the Second Amendment, this document by Constitutional scholar Glenn Harlan Reynolds is a wonderful resource. It is a prodigious, scholarly treatise that answers just about every question I've ever had on the subject, but does so in common, college-level language. It was written in 1995 and originally published as 62 TENN l. REV 461-511. I'm stumbling my way through it, and although it is a colossal article, it keeps me glued down and determined to keep reading.   http://www.guncite.com/journals/reycrit.html#fn*   In recent years there has been a lot of discussion on internet gun forums about the American citizens' right to rise up against government tyranny. This article should be required reading to anyone and everyone who wants to understand the right to revolt against tyranny as that right is embodied in the Second Amendment, and not as it is often espoused by run of the mill uninformed blowhards on internet gun forums.   This is the informed citizen's' best guide to the Second Amendment that I have ever seen.    EssOne
  17.   Beats heck outa pink! :pleased:
  18.   Yes, that will be just below "Go Big Ornge!"
  19.   If this happened you'd have to have a supertanker full of Kaopectate for the Democrats. :pleased:
  20.   Same thing, really. You'd think if they will destroy their pistols in the interest of public safety they'd do the same with their run-out patrol cars - after all, automobiles kill a whale of a lot more people than guns do.
  21.   Glad somebody else noticed that. Same with the Smith and Wesson autos from 1950 'till the plastics came out.
  22. I hate to think that two and two may make four here, but................................interesting conjecture anyway.   http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2015/08/31/armed-black-panthers-to-texas-cops-we-will-start-creeping-up-on-you-in-the-darkness/
  23. Well thank you very much guys. I really appreciate it. My computer guy recommended an off site resource over an external hard drive because he believes the hard drive builders are going through a phase when they are turning out some pretty unreliable stuff. But then, I really like the redundancy idea. Thanks again.   Glad you like my new picture, Pete. That's William Holden from the 1969 movie "The Wild Bunch."
