I thought Lesnar's interview immediately after the fight was pure genius(and pure WWE). I've never been a fan of the WWE or smack talking, but the guy is a definitely a showman. Whether you love him or hate him, you're going to want to see his next fight. Either to root for him or against him. Nobody is indifferent to him now. He made the UFC a boat load of money with that interview. Dana White has got to love this guy. Cliff PS- I couldn't help but notice that Lesnar has a Bud Light in front of him in the interview that TripleDigitRide linked above. If you didn't see the fight, when Rogan interviewed him he said that 'I'm gonna go have a Coors Light, that's right a Coors Light, cause Bud Light don't pay me nothing'. I'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist of what he said. Bud Light was a sponsor of UFC 100. I guess White did have to crack down on him for that one. But I've got a feeling that Budweiser is going to be sending some money his way soon.

Yeah, that was personal. Bisping talked a lot of smack during the Ultimate Fighter series and in the lead up to the fight. Henderson said he wanted to shut him up and he sure did.

Well if you're an MMA fan you know that Frank Mir lost to Brock Lesnar tonight at UFC 100. I like both Mir and Lesnar and was psyched about this fight(and it went pretty much how I expected). I knew that Lesnar was pro gun and an avid hunter. He is also sponsored by ATK(the company that owns Speer, Federal, RCBS, etc.). I didn't know where Mir stood on guns, but as I was stumbling around the internet looking for more video of tonight's fight I ran across this clip from MMA Girls on youtube: . Pretty cool.Cliff

HEARING ON GUNS IN RESTAURANTS JULY 13TH!
USMCJG replied to ngoeser59's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Sorry. I misquoted. This was a study done from newspaper reports in Missouri, not nationwide.- "Another study examined newspaper reports of gun incidents in Missouri, involving police or civilians. In this study, civilians were successful in wounding, driving off, capturing criminals 83% of the time, compared with a 68% success rate for the police. Civilians intervening in crime were slightly less likely to be wounded than were police. Only 2% of shootings by civilians, but 11% of shootings by police, involved an innocent person mistakenly thought to be a criminal." As noted, police in Missouri are 5.5 times more likely to shoot the wrong person. This is at least in part due to the fact that police MUST intervene during the commission of a crime, whereas a private citizen can choose to intervene or not. I'm not trying to badmouth the police, just noting that permit holders are not necessarily inherently more dangerous to the public at large. I honestly don't know how police officers deal with some of the things that they have to deal with. I simply don't have the disposition for it, but I admire those that do. Nikki and anyone else who may be attending the meeting, here are a few statistics that may help your arguments. They can be found here- "Shall Issue": The New Wave of Concealed Handgun Permit Laws Complete with references. "The most detailed information about civilian defensive gun use has been compiled by Professor Gary Kleck (a liberal Democrat, and member of the ACLU and Common Cause) in his book Point Blank: Guns and Violence in America. In 1992 the American Society of Criminology awarded the book the Hindelang Prize, as the most significant contribution to criminology in the previous three years. In Point Blank, Kleck studied computer tapes from the U.S. Department of Justice's National Crime Survey, for the years 1979-85. Analyzing the data from over 180,000 crime incidents in the National Crime Survey, as well from other studies, Kleck found the following: - In no more than 1% of defensive gun uses was the gun taken away by a criminal. - The odds of a defensive gun user accidentally killing an innocent person are less than 1 in 26,000" These are just a couple of examples that directly refute a couple of their claims. Many other statistics can be found at the site above. Granted the data studied for this particular example was compiled before the widespread issuance of carry permits, but the results are still valid. Best of all, this study was done by one of "them". HEARING ON GUNS IN RESTAURANTS JULY 13TH!
USMCJG replied to ngoeser59's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Nikki, great post. Don't forget to mention that statistically law enforcement officers are 5.5 times more likely to kill an innocent bystander than HCP/CCP holders nationwide. -
Lt.Col. Rosensteel's response was absolute perfection. As oldogy said the original letter writer did apologize. The most shocking part is that he was a Vietnam veteran.

Is the trigger bow or perhaps the trigger itself binding somewhere? Is the trigger bow bent or misaligned with the trigger? If you only changed the trigger and not the sear, disconnector, and/or sear spring there shouldn't really be any difference in trigger pull. Does the trigger reset itself normally, or is there some amount of resistance to reset? In other words, does there seem to be any resistance of the trigger against the sear spring when the trigger is pulled and released(it's best to check this dry)?In my experience(and I'm not a professional gunsmith)it is often necessary to file either the top or bottom, or both(and possibly even the sides) on a 1911 trigger to get it aligned correctly, and to prevent the trigger from contacting the frame at the top or bottom of the trigger guard and forcing the bow to bind somewhere.Cliff

Thanks for the clarification Pie. I was just reporting what I had read from numerous sources. As I mentioned, I have no experience with Glocks. I was just responding to why some think brass fired from Glocks, particularly in .40S&W, is not the best for reloading. FWIW, there have also been numerous reports of kabooms in HK USP .40's which DO have fully supported chambers. Like you say, I think it's because of the relatively high pressure/low capacity round where slight variations in seating depth can result in relatively large pressure spikes. Also, as you said, Buffalo Bore only loads heavy, +P, and +P+ ammo, so they are pushing the SAAMI limits with their ammunition.Cliff

UPDATE: No Guns Allowed In Johnson City City Parks
USMCJG replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just saw that on the news. I can't say that I'm surprised, I knew they would vote the way they did. Just another reason for me to stay away from Johnson City. LOL Motasyco. If those are the kinds of people we're up against, and sometimes losing to, I really fear for our future. Cliff PS- PREEMPTIVE STRIKE- Yes, I realize that I'm not an HCP holder, but that doesn't mean that I can't care about this issue. I am planning to get my HCP someday. -
I agree. I think the framers just assumed that if we elected representatives who betrayed the public trust that we would hastily remove them from office. They were wrong on that one count. Ron Paul actually pushed for term limits for congress several times in the past, starting in the 1970's. Surprisingly, those term limit bills never even made it out of committee. He has also tried to slow pay increases for members of congress several times, again surprisingly no luck.Cliff

The 40S&W cartidge is a fairly high pressure cartridge, and Glock .40S&W chambers do not fully support the cartridge case. From the Buffalo Bore Ammunition website: 40 S&W WARNING "This data is intended for use in firearms which fully support the cartridge in the chamber. Use of this data in firearms which do not fully support the cartridge may result in bulged cases, ruptured cases, case head separation, or other conditions which may result in damage to the firearm and/or result in injury or death of the shooter or bystanders." I'm not sure about the other calibers, but Buffalo Bore doesn't have the same warnings on their 9mm, .357Sig., 10mm, or .45ACP ammo. However, the Glocks do not have fully supported chambers in 10mm or .45 ACP, as well as .40S&W. But from what I've read, the Glock .40S&W's seems to be most susceptible to case bulge, case ruptures, and case head separation. I have no personal experience with these issues as I neither own, nor have the desire to own, a Glock. For what it's worth Glock recommends the use of only new manufactured ammunition, use of handloaded or remanufactured ammunition voids the Glock warranty. Cliff

The problem is that party politics are worse than they have ever been. I think a lot of moderate democrats would disagree(if they bothered to stop and think about it) with much of what is going on with the federal government right now. The problem is that no one votes their conscience any more. They vote their party. And the extreme "liberals"(big government and reduced personal and economic freedoms are not true liberal ideals, in today's world the word liberal is being used to describe fascists/communists/socialists) are in complete control of the democratic party. The parties are so powerful that if you don't tow the line, you won't get the party nomination next time. It doesn't matter if you're acting in the best interests of your constituency or not. If you want to be a career politician, you have to play by the party rules. As long as we keep it where you can get rich being a politician, we will always have the wrong kinds of people after the job. Cliff

Okay, I'll mention him. I think Bush did a poor job. I think the new guy makes Bush look amazingly good. I think the congress under Bush was horrible, and it's basically the same congress we have now. A single party having near total control of the government is the worst thing that we can have.Vote for Ron Paul and people like him in 2010 and 2012 if you want liberty returned and government downsized. We have got to get some more people who are willing to stand up for the Constitution in Congress and in the White House before it's too late. Cliff

I sent my email. I can honestly say that if Pelosi were running for office against Alexander, I wouldn't vote at all. I don't even think it matters. I can guarantee that I will never vote for Alexander again, barring some immediate and drastic philosophical change. I'm tired of being lied to by politicians.

Don't forget IMR 4064 and Accurate 2520. They are excellent .308 powders also.

That was a great story. I had never seen it either.

Agreed. But linky no worky.

I'm not necessarily in favor of a complete isolationist policy, but I still think we should drop out of the UN, OAS, and NATO. They call us to do all of the work and blame us if anything goes wrong(or even if it doesn't). Want our help? Ask us, forget the UN. Want us to keep the bad guys out of your country? Pay us and we'll help. We've been fighting other peoples battles, largely on our dime, for too long. Let our humanitarian organizations and charities take over for our government(taxpayer) funded "aid". They can do a better job, improve our relations with other countries, save us money(even with our tax deductible contributions), and keep the politics out of it, all at the same time. I'm tired of the US being the UN's whipping boy/policeman. Screw the UN. Cliff PS- Okay, rant off. I'm just not a fan of the UN. Does it show?

I'm on Firefox too, no issues. FF is the only browser I use any more. If the other advice doesn't help you might just need to do a clean reinstall.

Here is a very interesting video from our friends in England and Australia about their struggles with gun bans, and some advice for us on how to avoid them ourselves. Sorry if this is a repost.

Here is a really good video about our political system, and the other types of government. It also talks briefly about the parallels between the United States and Rome. If this has been posted before, I apologize for the repost.

Is this seriously for real? What a moron. What the heck is he about to do with that remote at ~1:10?
