Same here. Unfortunately/fortunately I don't own any clunkers.

I don't know if anyone has been arrested on their own property in Tennessee for doing nothing more than carrying a firearm. Nor do I know if there is any case law on it. But I don't see any reason to leave the possibility open that it could arise as a problem. It would be easier to just say that the U.S. Constitution applies to everyone, interpreted as it was originally intended, and do away with all of the nonsense all together. But if the law is going to say anything about it, I'd like it to say that my Second Amendment rights at least cover me while on my own property. That the state of Tennessee(apparently) says that it is against the law for me to carry a gun on my own property, but being on my own property provides me a defense, just rubs me the wrong way. Cliff

The two statements above in bold text seem to be contradictory.I know that this discussion originated because a person was asked for their HCP on their own property. And I understand what you are saying about the lawn mowing/dirt bike issue vs. carrying a gun. It seems, as may have been mentioned before, that we need to change the law so that carrying a weapon on your own property is legal, rather than just being a defense. And to clarify that you must only possess your HCP when you are in possession of a handgun, excluding those situations when you are not "armed" as defined by law and would be legally transporting a handgun whether you had an HCP or not(for example to the range). Anyway, thanks for the clarification. Cliff

Senator Reid gets his comeuppance - well written

Good for the Las Vegas Review- Journal. Glad to see that there is at least one media outlet that will maintain it's journalistic integrity, and not bow to the bullying of politicians. The saddest part of all is that it is hard to be surprised by anything politicians do anymore. -
Really? Does that mean that you must always be carrying your HCP, regardless of where you are or what you are doing(even on your own property), whether you are carrying a handgun or not? That just doesn't seem right to me. I'm not saying that you aren't correct, just saying that if that's the law it doesn't seem right. I don't have to have my driver's license with me when I'm mowing the lawn or riding my dirt bike.

I was unaware that the site even existed until I read this thread. I went over and signed up and it did seem pretty dead. How long has that site been up?

+1,000. Very good points by both of you.

Wow. I didn't know who the guy was or what his politics were from the first video, I just thought it was hilarious. That second video makes me think the heckler took it way too easy on him. -
That is pretty clever. It helps that those criminals are freaking stupid.

This makes me sick. If this had happened to an anti-Bush protester a year or two ago, the ACLU and media would have been all over it. This man had every right to have that sign, just as the anti-Bush protesters had every right to do what they did. I am very scared for this country right now. I have never been as worried for our futures as I am currently. I'm afraid we are very close to saying goodbye to liberty(what we have left anyway) and hello to subjugation and servitude. What is perhaps worst of all is that the same people who screamed "freedom of speech" when they wanted to call the Bush administration "Nazis" and "fascists"(and I fully supported their right to do so) seem to be firmly in favor of the suspension of the First amendment for people with views that differ from theirs. The hypocrisy is sickening. Cliff

Good stuff. Thanks for posting it.

Wow, you Mac folks really get defensive when anyone has anything bad to say about your Apples eh? As for me, I'm still using XP Pro and it "just works" too. Vista, on the other hand, is a piece of crap that I refused to "upgrade" to. I will give Apple a +1 for their low cost upgrade. But they get a -10 for the humorless buttpipes with superiority complexes that are Mac owners.(That was a joke. I only mention this because I fear I could be partially correct and that some humorless buttpipe may read this and get their panties in a bunch.) Metalhead, that was a funny article. That guy's site is hilarious.

+1 The Hornady free bullet deal is pretty great. I've used it four times so far this year. The only thing I wish they would let you do is mix and match, especially with the 1,000 free bullet deal.

Homeland Security Officials to Restrict Gun Carrying
USMCJG replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Search for Secret Service sued on Yahoo and you can find dozens and dozens of cases where individual agents of the Secret Service and the Secret Service itself have been sued. Nearly all of the lawsuits I saw were brought by anti-Bush protesters. -
Homeland Security Officials to Restrict Gun Carrying
USMCJG replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
From this article- Man carries assault rifle to Obama protest -- and it's legal - CNN.com : Asked whether the individuals carrying weapons jeopardized the safety of the president, (Secret Service spokesman)Donovan said, "Of course not." The individuals would never have gotten in close proximity to the president, regardless of any state laws on openly carrying weapons, he said. A venue is considered a federal site when the Secret Service is protecting the president and weapons are not allowed on a federal site, he added. In both instances, the men carrying weapons were outside the venue where Obama was speaking. "We pay attention to this obviously ... to someone with a firearm when they open carry even when they are within state law," Donovan said. "We work with our law enforcement counterparts to make sure laws and regulations in their states are enforced." The Secret Service doesn't seem all that concerned to me. Duly diligent yes, but certainly not overly concerned. -
Sorry to hear it. I can understand your disappointment with them. From most things I've seen in the past, STI has been known for excellent customer service. I haven't had any personal experience with their CS though.

It all depends on what you want to spend. If I were in the market for a $2,500+ 1911, I'd probably go with Ed Brown(if I didn't have a full custom built) as my first choice. But in the $1,000 to $1,500(for single stacks) range, STI is hard to beat. Of course I'm probably just a little biased. Like HexHead said, the fact that they told CA to shove it is just icing on the cake.
