  1. Joe/David, how long does a simulation take? How many folks do you think you can accomodate in the simulation in a day? Do you have to draw a ticket to get a change to get in the line? I'd like to try this but not at the expense of being in a line and not getting around to see and talk to all the vendors. I plan on coming!!
  2. We're happy to have you!! Use the word "y'all" a couple of times in your posts and you'll fit in great!!
  3. Well folks. . . .I'm going eat a crow sandwich. . . I just got my TT Gunleather holster on Saturday. It is so well made and fits well too. The craftsmanship is awesome. I love it!! So, I ordered at the first of May and just got it (nov 7). Yes, it's worth the wait.
  4. I ordered in May. Feels like ages ago. Probably worth the wait, but I've switched over to a SuperTuck that is extremely comfortable and holds the hangun very well. Its making me forget about the TT Gunleather order except for when I see posts like this.
  5. The email response from Demos' posted months ago on this website helped me make a decision to not go back to Demos' in Lebanon or anywhere else. I've not gone back and given them a dime. I don't miss them either. I've been to many restaurants that serve beer in the area that aren't posted. I think the hysteria generated by the Tennesse an and Commercial a ppeal is dying down. Arizona is under the media microscope now.
  6. I've been enjoying mine. They are super comfortable.
  7. Thanks for the post. I have relatives in Lewisburg that travel to Columbia frequently. I'll emphasize this info!!
  8. John Michael Montgomery's "the little girl"
  9. I saw an ad in the classifieds for Long Meadow Farms in Greenbier TN. They have a website that you can google. $100 for a season pass.
  10. I was not at the County Commission meeting on Monday. The City Council met Tuesday night at 6pm. Citizen comments were from 6pm-7pm. My comments were video taped. I'm sure it will come back on me one day in the future. It was actually quite civil. I'm working with one of the City Council members to propose some loosenings of the total ban. Right now, the City of Lebanon considers anything they own that is public where folks can congregate and enjoy are exempt from the state carry laws. That includes parks, greenways, ball fields, health club facility, sidewalks, property owned by the city that the public can visit like cemetaries, etc. The council claims that the state law gives them no guidance on breaking up the public areas to restrict this area and open another area. It is an excuse for a total gun ban. One of the councilman admitted that the schools were putting him under pressure threatening to never bring their kids to the city park anymore. Somewhat unfounded fear, but hey, that's the way politicians work. Some of our County Commissioners have used children as human shields to pass huge, multiple property tax increases for schools. I'm not surprised that some of the City Council members played "the children" card as an excuse for a total ban. Every item on their agenda required facts, accountability, investigation, except for this ordinance. Apparently, the kids are more in danger at city parks when carry permit holders are around vs. them being at Walmart parking lots, Kroger, or the Opry Mills mall. So to sum up: Wilson County properties - HCP holders can carry at all county owned properties, including Corp of Engineers leased boat ramps and fairgrounds. Lebanon City - :down:They opted out, so as of 9/1/09, no change, HCP holders are prevented from carrying in any public City owned property.
  11. David, that should be your banner ad!! It's not going to suck!! I can't tell you how much I think that at every show I've been to in the last 10 months!! Looking forward to it!!
  12. I was at the Lebanon City Council meeting tonight. There were a total of three citizens who addressed the council supporting carry permit holders rights and three opposed. I knew the council had already made up their minds but I wanted to go on record. This was my very first public speech. To sum up, I noted that this law was not about guns, but all of us carry permit holders. My question to the council wasn't about rights, splitting hairs on the law, etc., it was about trusting permit holders. Why, as of 9/1/09, would we be more of a threat than the thugs that carry anyway? During the council meeting, you could tell that some of the council members just did not understand what they were voting on. At that point, we lost. The debate was civil. No yelling, some clapping, but no fireworks. After the meeting, only one person from the audience thanked me for standing up. You put yourself out there, you then become fodder for water cooler talk. Anyway, I missed the TFA meeting in Nashville because I wanted to attend to speak out at the city council meeting.
  13. Agree with DavidD, Susan helped me with insider tips on how to handle lobbyists and members of the house to defeat a boat titling bill in committee three years ago. She's a good conservative in my book. I agree that we need another like minded person in her House spot.
  14. Vote is Mon Aug 17 at 7pm. Public hearing on budget at 6pm. If you live in Wilson county, not contacting your representative is as good as doing nothing. I got the NRA briefing via email and I just called my Commissioner. His position is that if the state believes I'm qualified to carry, that the right to carry should have no further restrictions. He will oppose any attempt to "opt out". Go here to learn who your rep is and call them! Do it! WILSON COUNTY Commission
  15. Bear with me here. . . Myself and Bob Keast, a Marina owner, went up against the NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association), a major lobby group, three years ago when they tried to talk our state legislators into implementing a costly and useless bill to title boats in Tennessee. As told by the NMMA, this bill would be a benefit to us (the boat owners) because titling boats would lower insurance rates on boats and jet skis, reduce marine loan interest rates, and keep Tennessee from being a dumping ground for stolen boats. It turns out, all of those so called facts were lies and twisted facts. The NMMA only wanted to title boats so they could later buy the information on your boat titles from the State of Tennessee for marketing purposes. Our state lawmakers were eating this misinformation and lies up like it was the truth. If it hadn't have been for someone standing up and refuting this, ALL OF YOU READING THIS MESSAGE would be titling your old flat bottom boats you keep in the shed (no title, no registration issued). Fighting the NMMA on this took several weeks of effort, many phone calls, emails, letters, and more emails. And all this effort was just to keep one bill from making it out of committee to the floor of the House. It took a lot of energy to kill this thing. Why did I mention this? There are lobbyist out there for the anti-gun agenda that work 24/7 to take every right of gun ownership away from you. They strategize, plan, plot, and connive to convice lawmakers by using misinformation, untruths, media, and emotion. They can get face to face meetings with lawmakers while you're at work. Having faced the power of one lobby group and realizing the power, influence, and money involved, I greatly appreciate the NRA doing whatever they can to fight on our behalf. I hate lobbyist, yet I support the NRA. I don't have to agree with the NRA on everything, but they are the only effective group out there right now that is watching and fighting. We can't do this alone. Knowing what I know now about lobbying and politics, I am happy to contribute to the NRA to work on our behalf.
  16. Sheriff: Jacob Shaffer bought stun guns the afternoon before killing spree - Breaking News from The Huntsville Times - al.com Answer: I would conclude lethal action in self defense is appropriate if someone pulled a taser on you. . . .especially after hearing about this rampage (click link) in our own backyard.
  17. I know. This whole thing has been boiling up for several months. I've had it up to here (hand held at eye level) of all the attacks on innocent, law abiding, clean record having, permit holders. Permit holders have been called gun nuts, crazies, right wing extremists, red necks, idiots, and all sorts of vile names. Randy Rayburn calls permit holders vigilantes. First, permit holders can't drink and keep their permit. Drink = lose permit forever. (you don't have to commit a crime, you just have to touch the drink to your lips) On the other hand, a DUI (crime) will allow you to get your drivers license back eventually. It gives the drunks more chances to kill. Permit holders carry to "save their life". Drinking, on the other hand often leads to the loss of life on a daily basis. You've got the bar tenders continuing to serve the Long Island Tea's to the non-permitted patrons, then the patrons get in their cars and we hope they don't kill anyone. It happens every night at ALL the bars. It happens at Randy Rayburn's bars. I guess if death doesn't happen inside the bar, it's not his problem. What's the most risk to the public on a daily basis? A loaded gun concealed in the pocket of a legal permit holder for self defense or an intoxicated 21 year old who just left Randy Rayburn's bar driving drunk down Old Hickory Blvd? If you listen to Adam Dread and Randy Rayburn, it's the permit holder. HOW FREAKIN' CRAZY IS THAT? It's also the mother of all hypocrisy. They claim that laws never stopped anyone from driving drunk. (Fact) They also claim that a permit holder is going to drink too. . . then go on a shooting rampage. Or, a permit holder will let a drunk take their weapon away from them and they shoot up the place. (hypothetical touted as fact) Do we need to dig up how many people Randy Rayburn's patrons have killed or how much property damage was caused by folks he's helped serve to prove who is truly the most risk to the innocent public? His bar will assist in doing more damage to the public in a year than the 200,000 permit holders in Tennnessee will do in their entire lifetimes. I don't have a problem with him posting his bars. I support his right to do so, but don't call permit holders vile names and accuse of them of things that haven't happened. The bar owners and the nature of their business are far more dangerous to the public than a permit holder will ever be. With that, I'll close.
  18. Is Summer Study another way of saying it's going to the magical land where bills go that are never heard from again?
  19. Do you mean "Land of the Lost" ? Agree in that it did have some "adult" themes and but some good laughs too.
  20. Agreed. Just let it go. These restaurant managers aren't allowed to think for themselves at these large chain restaurants. They clear everything through their chain of command and it goes to the top. Then Legal Counsel. Get the picture? By asking, it appears to them that you may be concerned.
  21. I just read the fine print of the rules. All standard stuff. You're not signing up for some obscure phone service or changing your long distance plan by signing up as happens on some "prize" entry forms.
  22. We have our Legislators on our side. They passed the bill, they can override. No need for a protest unless our lawmakers aren't listening to us.
  23. I believe that the Governor wanted to have others standing with him when he vetoed. Alone, he would have been perceived as anti-gun, anti-2nd amendment and would have received a hail storm of criticism. With LEOs behind him, it appears that he is protecting us from ourselves. So, he invited a lot of LEO's to stand with him so it appeared that it really wasn't all his opinion to veto but also the LEO's standing behind him. The LEO's didn't realize that they were being used by the Governor (or did they?). Now, if there is pushback (as there will be), the LEO's appear as if they were behind and supported the Governor's veto. I regret that the Governor brought in the LEO's on this political issues which deals with individual 2nd amendment rights vs. the hypothetical of "what could go wrong". It puts a divide between us the LEOs. Just my opinion y'all.
  24. what brand of holster is that for the 1911? also, is it comfortable and hold your 1911 tight to your side? thanks!
