    Back-up guns

I've never really entertained the idea of carrying a BUG as a civilian. I do carry a spare mag with my 1911, and will carry a spare mag with my XD45 as soon as the extras arrive.
  2. No camera with me, but... Wallet Keys SOG Flash-II Tanto knife Motorola e815 phone XD45 Compact If it's night time, sometimes I'll stick my Surefire G2 flashlight in a pocket as well.
  3. Isn't there one version (Variant 3?) of the P2000 that retains the hammer? That's the one that I was considering, at least. I hope it has the hammer still.
  4. Actually you're somewhat limited to 5 guns in 7 days... after which time "more paperwork" is involved. Or at least this is what I was told by an employee at On Target earlier this month when we were buying my XD45C after having bought several other guns from them in the previous two weeks. She said that as long as I hadn't bought more than 5 in the past 7 days, it was smooth sailing. Maybe someone else can elaborate on this.
  5. I'd say it almost has to be an XD357. I don't think Springfield makes another handgun chambered in .357 SIG.
  6. I miss my SIGs the most of any guns that I've ever sold or traded off. My P229 and P226-Rail were both .40SW and both very enjoyable to shoot. I got raped on trading the P229 off for a Glock 27 years ago before I woke up and realized that it's better to sell than trade, and better still to just keep them and not let them go in the first place.
  7. I do have an attorney that I've used for other matters in the past. She would do in a pinch and I trust her to refer me to one of her peers who might be more versed in this area if she herself wasn't up to the task.
  8. Welcome, volfan! Where did you take your CCW class? That's great that your instructor mentioned the site.
  9. My first .40SW ever was a USP. It was a great gun, but carried like a brick. I've thought about picking up a P2000 .40SW sometime down the road.
  10. Welcome! Would have replied myself sooner but I've been under the weather the past few days. Glad to have you with us.
  11. Excellent. It's good to have you here with us.

    swapped guns

    Beautiful 1911. Congrats!
  13. None of my concealed carry holsters have thumb breaks on them. Are you worried about someone grabbing the gun out of your holster from behind?

I don't take any pains to use the grip safety in that way. If you do that the way I'm visualizing with a 1911, you put your thumb right on the hammer. I've taught myself to avoid that with the Kimber so I likewise avoid it with the XD.

The gun stores around here seem to sell XDs as fast as they can get them too. I've owned both Glocks and XDs (among countless others) and can honestly say that my own experience has been that my XDs have been just as reliable as their Glock counterparts.

  17. Should I tell you that On Target had a bi-tone in their store the other night while I was there?
  18. The closest I've come to doing that was walking from my truck to deer stand early one morning and I heard a bobcat start screaming about 20 yds from me. In addition to my .30-06, I was carrying my Glock 23 with M3X light on it and had it out in a hurry and the light on, scanning the ground near me. I never saw the cat but it scared the hell out of me. It'd be really cool if an indoor range could be persuaded to kill the lights and let you practice using your light and night sights to engage a target.
  19. I hope that nurse was good looking... and female. Get better soon!
  20. Welcome! Glad to have you here.
