  1. That's a tough one. It's hard to make someone carry who's not really interested.
One thing about a woman, anyone really, you can't MAKE then do anything.

I agree with both of those.

Also, many people don’t carry all the time. It may not be that we don’t have any regard for our lives; but simply that we refuse to live our lives feeling that we must always be armed.

  2. what makes a holographic sight so great and so different

The fastest target acquisition I have ever seen, both eyes open with a full field of view, small unit that weighs less than 9 oz, picatinny mount, lighted selectable reticles. You don’t even have to shoulder the weapon; all you need is to be able to see the HUD.

sweet do the have much magnification

They don’t have any. (There may be some, but most of the ones I have seen don’t have any.)

  3. i was talking price wise i was wanting like a red dot tactical type scope of some sort

I bought an AimShot Holographic to play with. It’s not a EOTech but it’s not $500 either. :D

Midway has them for $139. ($114 if you have a C&R)

  4. Appreciate the support - I'm in contact with the NRA's Legal advisory people to make sure it will be quickly and safely returned. They's busy with a armful of Chicago lawsuits right now, but I feel like I'm in good hands with NRA's assistance, and they won't let me or my pistol slide through the cracks.

I haven’t read all of this but it’s been seven weeks. Have you went to Gallatin PD and ask to speak to the Shift Commander? Or to the Sates Attorney’s office and talk to them? The weapon can be checked in a matter of minutes; I would be curious to know what the wait is for.

    Good luck with the NRA.

  5. While you all know I'm no conspiracy nut ......... the ATF is using mind policing policies. This is what I don't like. It is so open to interpretation the ATF can really enforce anything they want. How can they determine intent. Some cases are easy, but every case "could be" intent. How do disprove your own personal thoughts? How do you prove your thoughts?

I would guess the same way any other offense would be determined…. In a court. State of mind and intent is a factor in many criminal cases.

We have access to the written law, but most of us don’t have the ability to research case law. The case law is just as important as the written law.

  6. man the scopes for these are high.

You mean price wise or height wise?

You can mount any cheap scope on them; if that is what you want.

    I’m using a Leupold, but I’m just saying….

  7. Because private parties tend more toward being morons incapable of following basic written and highlighted instructions for a legal transfer. :D:mad:

They put the gun in a box, declare it and ship it. How do they mess that up or make it an illegal transfer?

  8. Question for the dealers here...

I commonly see private sellers putting in their ads to make sure your FFL will accept shipment from a private party. Do some of you not accept those shipments? If not, why?

  9. Obviously a joke, but just the act of accepting money for a transaction like this is enough to put you away for a while.

If you took the money and didn’t send him the gun you could find yourself dealing with the Postal Cops on a fraud change. And if you sent him the gun you could be dealing with the AFT on an illegal transfer and then the Postal Cops on using the mail in the commission of a crime.

Unless you were already a criminal I doubt you would do time, but I would guess you would end up with a felony conviction and fines and attorneys fees in some pretty big numbers.

I’ve seen al kinds of stuff posted that could get you busted. Like disassembling a firearm and sending it in separate packages somehow makes it not be a firearm. :D

  10. He could have been a LEO, they do this on some gun forums looking for people to bite..

I had a guy PM me and make a point of telling me he lives in Alabama but could pick the gun up here. It could have been an innocent mistake on his part or it could have been the ATF…. Who knows?

Thanks Tungsten for fixing the problem without making everyone else suffer. thumbsup.gif

  11. I have not yet had to do a transfer. If I’m looking for used I have been able to find what I want locally (with the exception of one recently) by posting on the forums, or if I’m looking for new I have been able to find a dealer that would give me as good as price as I could find elsewhere. I contact those dealers that support the forum first.

  12. I don’t mind the sales people making suggestions; I don’t feel like they are insulting me by doing that.

I decided I wanted a .308 AR type rifle. I went to see Joe because he had the DPMS LR-308 I thought I wanted. When he handed it to me I thought “Holly crap this thing is long.†I guess he could tell I was less than impressed and said “I have something else you might want to take a look at.†He put the LR-308AP4 in my hands, and it was exactly what I was looking for.

If he hadn’t done that he would have probably missed out on a sale and I would have missed out on a great rifle.

Sure, I looked at the specs before going there, but that’s not the same as holding it in your hands.

  13. Here's a question for the masses;

Are shoppers turned off by not being able to root through the rifles the very moment they walk in the door? Is this a bad move on our part?

My thinking is that it will allow me to place nicer and sometimes more delicate rifles out for display, and also encourage customer/staff interaction as we assist the customer by opening the case, clearing the firearm, and helping them with any questions they may have.

    Thoughts?

I wouldn’t be turned off by it. I would be turned off if I saw someone dismantle a rifle that I was thinking about buying. It’s like cars or motorcycles; If I’m paying for new I want new. :D

Although I know this is controversial; I don’t dry weapons…. It is wrong. If someone is “just looking†they don’t need to be dry firing them and if they are serious about a particular weapon someone should put a snap cap in it before they dry fire it. I have seen guys stand there and dry fire the crap out of handguns and then put them back; I don’t want those.

  14. Awww, what's the ammo gonna do, get MORE powerful over time?

C'mon..if it ain't eaten into with rust, what could happen, cept not fire or squib?

    - OS

No, the ammo won’t become more powerful; but it could be deteriorated. If he had a squib and didn’t realize it, he could destroy the gun or get hurt.

Ammo is cheap compared to what could happen.
