  1. I’m a Toolmaker and could get that screw out, but I wouldn’t do it on my own gun. If you find it cross threaded or the threads are damaged, retapping it won’t make it right. They won’t make it a different size, they will just replace it. Send it in.

I have always been a S&W fanboy and still am. Somewhere in the forum is my story about a run in I had with them on a Performance Center gun over a trigger. I took it all the way to the Top of S&W. I wrote letters and mailed them to the CEO, and VP of firearms. I immediately got a call telling me to send it in, it would be fixed. It was returned to me with nothing done and I replaced the trigger with an Apex.

Smith & Wesson was always the gold standard of service all others were measured by. That just isn’t true anymore. And that’s a shame for an American manufacturer. But then who does have good customer service anymore? Sure, we all have stories of what good service we got from different manufacturers. Like I did about S&W. But then something like this happens.

I’ve owned over a 100 S&W handguns and had to send three in. They were all turned around within a couple of weeks. They did tell me that they shut-down for a couple of weeks during the summer and that really backs things up. So with stoppages due to the latest drama I would guess it could take awhile.

I wasn’t mad about sending the gun back. I was furious that after being a loyal customer for so many years, they turned their back on me. I was also mad that I paid extra money for a “Performance Center” gun that had a POS trigger. I think they are just putting “Performance Center” on most everything now. I told them that if my gun was in the performance center it was just on a cart passing through.

I know how mad you are though. Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt. Take deep breaths.

Heck of a deal if it’s what you’re after!

Thanks Greg, that’s a heck of a deal for someone, the belt by itself is worth more than that. I placed an order with John at J.M Ross in Bulls Gap. After I emailed him, he called me, and we talked for about an hour and a half. He answered every question I had and gave me suggestions for the requirements of what I may want to use it for. His rigs are very popular in the SASS community. I’m stoked, I should have it in a couple of months.

If ya are into " period correct " leather and canvas goods, this ole boy here is your man... More than that, he resides in Bulls Gap, TN... An old and honored location in Tennessee.  He has made several holsters for my Ruger SA vaqueros, belts, and ammo pouches...

He is arrow straight,  a great leather craftsman,  and an all round good guy... Highly recommended...   https://jm-leather.com/

Thanks Leroy. I’ve looked at his rigs before. I want a low ride like a “Drop Loop” or I guess sometimes called a Buscadero? It appears he doesn’t do those since he has a link on his website to someone that does, and appears to be in Corinth MS, actually closer to me than he is.

I have the Black Hills Bandito rig https://www.blackhillsleather.com/shop/western-rigs-leather/western-rigs/bhb-the-black-hills-bandito-rig/ in the dark chestnut with silver buckle and belt tip with .38/.357 cartridge loops.  It appears to have gone up since I bought mine.  It is a very high quality rig and I am pleased with it.  I also have some Triple K that do just fine for knock about stuff.

    Thanks,

Do you think the Black Hills is better quality than the Triple K? The Triple K #40 & 41 I'm looking at is $533 at Americasgunstore.com, (if they have it) and over $660 on the Triple K website.

The only drop belt holster combination I see at Black Hills is The Hunter. Its $400.

(Black, Basketweave Tooling, New Model Blackhawk Convertible 0463, 5.5” .45 Colt, Size 44” on both options)

  5. Thanks guys, it looks like El Paso Saddlery and Triple K are the only options that have reasonable pricing and delivery times for what I want. (El Paso could take 4 months. I’m spoiled with same day or 2 day shipping most everywhere. But I understand they don’t make a lot of these anymore 🙃)

Seeing holster quality on the internet is impossible. I’m still hoping to find someone local that makes holsters. But no luck yet.

  6. TICS is broke. As you have apparently seen on here; this happens a lot.

Short of a class action lawsuit I don’t see it being fixed. But of course with a lawsuit, if they can show ANYTHING, correct or not; they probably wouldn’t be held liable for anything.

I have never heard of a “Do not sell list” with FFL’s?? That is disturbing. If someone had that happen in my area I would appreciate them naming the business so I could make sure not to use them.

  7. Revolvers are having, or needing, a resurgence?? I didn’t get the notification. 🙃

Altamont Grips is going strong. But we have lost the original S&W factory grips, and Ahrends Grips.

I don’t know how any self respecting gun owner could even consider Kydex for a holster; but it certainly is an option. There are plenty of leather options available from cheap junk to quality holsters. But of course leather holsters cost more than plastic ones.

Since CRB, I’ve only added one gun. It’s a S&W model 610. I don’t foresee adding anything else soon as the prices are crazy.

Almost all my carry guns are Semi-autos. But I certainly love my revolvers, and a revolver holds the #1 place in my home defense.

You think gb is crazy now? Wait till the 21st!

I thought the same thing. But with yesterdays events; no need to wait. So much for gun prices possibly dropping back to reality or ammo being available.

I would speculate that with current events, manufacturers may be able to justify the capital expenditures they couldn’t justify before. Americans on both sides and from all walks of life will be arming themselves.

I appreciate that they are loading  millions of rounds of ammo. Ok..... where is it? I've not seen hardly any ammo in Cookeville, Livingston, Tompkinsville, Ky., Gamaliel, Ky.

And you probably won’t for some time. No need to stock shelves; its being sold online without the need, and they don’t have to look the customer in the eye.

  10. Yeah, it looks like 3 or 4 guys are in a bidding war. Which I don’t understand either, why they keep bumping the bid up; but whatever.

But what do I know? I stuck my toe in the GB water last week. I put a couple of small items up just trying to get some positive reviews. Listed them with a starting bid under half of what everyone else was selling them for; no joy, they didn’t sell. 😢

  11. Welcome to the forum. And thank you for making that website.

My Uncle was killed in the pacific in the crash of his B-17 in 1943. My mother had only the information that she was told as a child about what happened to her brother. A year or so ago I did a Google search on his name and found some info. It ultimately led me to a site that identified his plane, all the crew members and what happened. When I told my Mom about the information I had found, she said it wasn’t correct because “She was told” (back in the day). I explained to her that some of the information was written by one of the two crew members that survived the crash. She wanted me to “print that website” 🙃. So now I’m in the process of trying to remotely teach her how to use that website to get info.

Sites like yours fill in the blanks for a lot of people, and give information to the young folks that want to know what really happened. Thank you.

  12. You have no duty to retreat. That is something different than thinking Castle Doctrine creates a free fire zone. If you walked in and found a burglar in your home, your Nest camera is running, or he is live streaming as some criminals do, and it records him throwing his hands in the air, surrendering, and telling you he is unarmed, don’t shoot. You kill him.

You will enter the courtroom with the presumptions given you under Castle Doctrine. The prosecutor will then blow those presumptions out of the water. That’s just my opinion though. I guess its possible the state would allow you to execute a surrendering burglar. But since they won’t let you kill a fleeing burglar; I doubt it.

But those are decisions everyone must make on their own. My own personal belief is that when a person is committing a forcible felony they should have no rights. And should be subject to being shot or killed by the victims or bystanders. Unfortunately most folks don’t agree. Especially when the offender is a friend, family member, or a child. Our founding Fathers were a bunch of tough old guys that are probably rolling over in their graves when they see their words being twisted to hold the rights of a criminal above those of the victims.
