  1. Welcome! I prefer to CC, but I don't care if I print because I am within my right to carry. I don't intentionally try to print, but if it happens, I am not spooked if someone makes me. If I am just working around the house/yard I will OC because of comfort. I am lucky, all my neighbors are of the same opinion! I think the general public cannot handle OC. There is no point in stirring it up intentionally. OC in small doses over time will gain acceptance in the long run. In time, OC will become accepted, IF gun owners handle the situation in a calm, rational, manner with the intent to educate.
  2. Memphis, started with freezing rain about 0900. Now, ice on the ground and rain coming down at 1550. As soon as it gets dark, ice skating rink! I'm staying home.
  3. With whom are you supposed to register your gun in TN?
  4. Gun shops that have ranges do the training.
  5. Thanks Jay, great to meet you too! My wife is happy too!
  6. The problem here is the police found the truck PARKED. He was not driving. So the only way to go at an investigation was on the tip.
  7. This definitely cause for concern. I agree that we should watch along with our children and explain as we see fit. My concern is that this sounds much like how North Korea has indoctrinated all of the people there by placing Kim J likeness on every corner, feeding his speeches to kids at schools. Teaching the children songs about how great he is. Will that be next for O?
  8. The police likely have only one means of retaining personal effects; evidence. I don't know this to be fact, I am just guessing. If that is the case, the police were within thier rights to inspect the weapon. Besides, the gentleman willingly handed the weapon over to the police. Could this be the same as allowing police to search your vehicle when they ask? Once you give permission, anything goes.
  9. Welcome, originally from Homestead/Perrine area S. Florida, now live near Memphis
  10. I agree with Swamprunner, it sounds like you have a faulty ground.
  11. 44 MPG all the time, 2006 VW Jetta diesel
  12. There is one bad apple in every bunch. What Tudor did to the teen driver is unaccptable considering what we can see in the video. But, what we do not know is what happened prior to the video. It is quite possible the teen driver did something very stupid. This does not excuse the officers actions, but could help put perspective on the situation. It would be very interesting to know the whole story.
  13. Sorry to hear about you getting laid off. This is a reality check. If you can't make the payments on the car or house, sell now! Your priorities should be food, shelter, utilites and paid for transportation. Find a job quick, even if it is not in your area of expertise. Good luck!
  14. I watch life limited parts of aircraft records
  15. Here is when you can pass on the right: 55-8-118. When overtaking on the right is permitted. — (a) The driver of a vehicle may overtake and pass upon the right of another vehicle only under the following conditions: (1) When the vehicle overtaken is making or about to make a left turn; (2) Upon a street or highway with unobstructed pavement not occupied by parked vehicles of sufficient width for two (2) or more lines of moving vehicles in each direction; and (3) Upon a one-way street, or upon any roadway on which traffic is restricted to one (1) direction of movement, where the roadway is free from obstructions and of sufficient width for two (2) or more lines of moving vehicles. ( The driver of a vehicle may overtake and pass another vehicle upon the right only under conditions permitting that movement in safety. In no event shall the movement be made by driving off the pavement or main-traveled portion of the roadway. [Acts 1955, ch. 329, § 17; T.C.A., § 59-818.]
  16. Tennessee law says stay right except to pass. 55-8-115. Driving on right side of roadway — Exceptions. — (a) Upon all roadways of sufficient width, a vehicle shall be driven upon the right half of the roadway, except as follows: (1) When overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction under the rules governing such movement; (2) When the right half of a roadway is closed to traffic while under construction or repair; (3) Upon a roadway divided into three (3) marked lanes for traffic under the applicable rules thereon; or (4) Upon a roadway designated and signposted for one-way traffic. ( Upon all roadways any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic, or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway, except when overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction or when preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway. [Acts 1955, ch. 329, § 14; T.C.A., § 59-815.]
  17. In some countries, it is illegal to pass on the right. I do not know what the state law is for that.
  18. I am well aware of traffic protocol. In most states it is the law to make the pass then return to the right lane. I think you mean slower traffic keeps right. Had the guy coming up behind me not been going 80 +, I would have had an opportunity to move to the right. I agree it is not about speeding, but I must have touched nerve. In any case, the OP is about a great experience with the Sherriff. I believe the US as a whole needs much better driver training and no speed limits outside of city limits.
  19. Update: The car that caused me to get pulled over blew past me again this morning. I was in the SLOW lane for all you speeders! So the car is a silver convertable BMW M6. I gave the Sherriff the tag number.
  20. I know, get out of the passing lane. Usually at 0500, there is not much action on the road.
