  1. Is he using steel shot? Try some bismuth. I've heard many a duck hunter complain about steel no matter what ga they were shooting. A friend hunts ducks with nothing but 20 ga and uses these: https://bossshotshells.com/shotshells/bismuth/ He said they hit like a truck compared to steel shot. They are kinda pricey, but he says he only gets to go twice a year, so he might as well make his shots count.
  2. Or he might get away. MPD has a fairly strict no pursuit policy and the bad guys are well aware. If MPD chases someone in a car (assuming they follow their own rules), they probably have a good reason. It’s not even clear (or at least I haven’t read) whether he didn’t stop, stopped and decided to leave in his car, ran away on foot, or some combination. If it turns out that he was one of those fine citizens who, in the last two years, has decided it’s ok to shut down streets at gunpoint, get 3” from other cars while changing lanes at 125mph on I-240, or do the hit-and-run routine and he finally got caught, I will have less sympathy for him. But I won’t judge him or the cops until I see some facts and evidence.
  3. I don’t know what happened, but I suspect he wasn’t stopped for failing to use a turn signal.
  4. How often does this happen when the person stopped by police does not run or fight? It would be interesting to find out why he ran and what happened after he did. We are told that black men are all but justified in running because look at what happens when they get stopped, but most of the incidents cited are horrible examples that the victim/suspect had warrants, tried to run over the officer, etc. and could have easily avoided. This one appears to be an exception, although none of us have all the facts and probably never will. It is a tragedy if black men are taught to run any time they are stopped and then fight if need be because you are going to get badly hurt or die regardless. That seems like they are being conditioned to carry out a self-fulfilling prophesy.
  5. I dry fired my friend's trigger yesterday. The break felt exactly like my Timney does, but the reset was a lot more pronounced. He played around with several connectors and settled on one of the Lone Wolf connectors. I would buy one of these before anything else if I wanted to change the trigger from stock.
  6. No, I get it, but some groups push the narrative that white cops are out hunting black men. This incident doesn't help their cause, so I think riots are less likely. White cops or black, I'm not judging anyone until I at least see the video (if it does become available).
  7. SHOULDN’T matter, but unfortunately does. Many a civil rights industrialist tonight is probably lamenting what they initially assumed to be a golden opportunity.
  8. Excellent point, but it will be ignored by the city council when someone mentions widening the candidate pool for the job by allowing non-Shelby County residents to be hired. Memphis is short on officers, but shrinking the department's recruiting potential is more important because POLITICS
  9. Makes sense. As much as I despise Baldwin, I have mixed feelings about sending him to prison for this. A trip to the local indoor range can look like somebody let loose a bunch of monkeys with chainsaws. I would hate to imagine the safety picture on the set of a movie with untrained Hollywood egomaniacs pretending to shoot each other. I suspect Baldwin did nothing different than he has done numerous times in his career, except this time, somebody loaded the gun. A friend completely disagreed and said if one of us were cleaning a gun, reassembled it, accidently loaded it, and pulled the trigger and shot somebody, we would go to prison and what he did was no different. I think this is a bit of an apples-to-oranges comparison. We (should) follow Cooper’s four rules. Those rules get murky when making a movie that involves people being shot. Whether he pulled the hammer or pulled the trigger, Baldwin pointed a gun at someone and shot them and is ultimately responsible. If he had said something like “Wow, I screwed up and this is an eye opening experience. I want to use this tragedy to establish and follow better procedures on sets and change our culture”, I would respect him for it. Instead, he said “IT’S SOMEBODY ELSE’S FAULT!!” So come what may.
  10. I think I read earlier that three people are being charged. I don’t know what movie set procedures are, but if anyone hands me a gun, the first thing I do is make sure it’s empty. If I get hired to play the bad guy in the next Jack Ryan movie (probably not gonna happen), I’ll still immediately check any gun a prop guy hands me. If they don’t like it, they can fire me. I’m an instructor and competitive shooter and this mentality is in my bone marrow. Baldwin, probably not so much, but I doubt he’s had much training and detests guns anyway.
  11. Amen. I put brakes on my wife’s 4Runner this past summer and she already has a warped rotor. I rode shotgun with her last weekend and after five minutes said “Ohhhhhhh”
  12. There are a lot of gunowners who have horrible trigger finger/muzzle discipline and a three pound trigger is the last thing they need.
  13. I have some old Midway headstamp brass somewhere that my dad bought (from Midway). I don’t think there was ever any Midway ammo, though.
  14. A friend has one and is impressed. He said it breaks similar to the Timney but reset is more pronounced. The main gripe about the Timney is that the reset is a little mushy. Timney released a new reset spring that improved things somewhat. Compared to other aftermarket triggers, $100 sounds like a deal if it’s as good as my friend said (if you are looking to improve the trigger).
  15. He's a good dude, a hell of a shot, and an asset to the shooting community.
  16. Not exactly training, more of a test. Beech is good people and makes the FBI qualification look pretty easy. I'm having surgery soon and will be off the range for a while, but I'd like to give it a shot in the next couple weeks if I can swing it.
  17. Then there’s the added benefit of putting Americans out of work while helping the Chinese economy.
  18. Haven’t heard that but I don’t doubt it. Batteries don’t last as long when it’s cold. I’ll stick to my fossil fuel burner
  19. The name doesn't ring a bell, but I hate that he's gone. RIP
  20. Is his TGO username also IronHandJohn? I’m trying to figure out who this is.
  21. Some folks don’t give three craps about what is supposedly cool. And I didn’t get offended. There’s capitalism and socialism and not much else in between unless you want to throw in socialism’s cousin fascism. What do you suggest we should try?
  22. Makes sense. Around here, a lot of people are blaming MLGW for the water problem. I’m no water engineer, but an unprecedented number of pipe ruptures (on private commercial property) apparently led to an overall decrease in water pressure, which contributed to more freezing. Single digit temps will do that. What is odd is that that we had two or three days of single digit temps last February when it snowed, but I don’t recall as many ruptured lines. Could be the timing - businesses were closed for the holiday weekend and ruptures weren’t detected as quickly as they normally would. I spent Xmas playing with ruptured lines at work, but that was due to some recent idiot procedure changes and some ill-advised budget cutting. It was avoidable, but some would blame the government.
