If you don’t like for-profit prisons, don’t go to one. Just going by what he said.
-
Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
-
Probably frantically scrubbing blood out of his car, washing his clothes in the sink, and hiding the victim’s clothes.
-
I don’t have all the answers. I have opinions on some needed changes, but I suppose that is taboo here. Whatever the case, making life easier and less consequential for criminals, as the newly elected DA wants to do, is probably going to make things worse than they are now. That is quite a feat.
-
Yeah but next week the woketards will be back to talking about getting rid of cash bail and disproportionate incarceration. This week will be old news.

Just another day

I'm researching this latest a-hole and it appears he caught an attempted first degree murder charge as a juvenile, was bound over to Criminal court (apparently to be tried as an adult), pleaded guilty to Aggravated Assault, and was sentenced to three years. Obviously he didn't do the three years. The last DA was criticized because she tried too many juveniles as adults. I don't think she tried enough.
-
So now we apparently have an active shooter riding around town randomly shooting people and Facebook Live-ing it. I need to leave Shelby County.
-
You wouldn't, even if Weirich were still the DA. Most violent criminals don't get life, either. However, Mulroy implies that first-time violent offenders (like Abston in 2000) do not "particularly deserve a strong response." That is a step in the wrong direction.
-
and if they're not repeat offenders?
-
Exactly. People still want a Lifetime movie script. In other news, one of the a-holes who kidnapped a woman and her kid at Target has been arrested and charged. Surprise surprise surprise he did time for Armed Robbery and Burglary. The real irony is that if Mulroy had been the DA when this guy and Abston were caught, he would not want have wanted to charge them as adults. It doesn't appear that things will be getting better any time soon. Ya'll be safe.
-
Hats off to Mulroy for clarifying that there was a lot of baseless speculation and that this appears to be a random crime.
-
The question is will he have to balls to NOT do it. Mulroy is a woke left activist and is probably as anti-death penalty as they get, but will probably be facing some serious pressure to pursue the death penalty. He mentioned repeat violent offenders before the election, so who knows. The problem is if offenders are not dealt with seriously, you get repeat offenders.

I do too, but sometimes a criminal's grandmother mortgages her house to bail out her baby because he's such a good kid. My wife had a cousin like that. 500 isn't low, but I was surprised it wasn't higher, given that he's a prior offender for the same thing and that he took off when he saw the cops. On another note, I heard there was a FB page about the case. I'm no FB fan, but I got on my wife's page and found it. Big mistake. There are apparently a lot of women who will have a 20 year orgasm if if turns out the husband had something to do with it. Facts are irrelevant, speculation is king, and these women are losing their damn minds. Kinda chilling that these people could end up in a jury box. I think my IQ was about 10 points lower by the time I stopped reading. I feel sorry for the husband. He may end up being involved, but until then, he's guilty until proven innocent in some folks' minds.
-
A judge set Abston’s bond at 500k. So much for the family’s connections.
-
I doubt Mulroy pursues the death penalty.

She was five miles or so from her house. If she had already clocked five miles, she was probably in no shape to put up much of a fight. Since I run some (although not at Fletcher's level), I've thought about this quite a bit and never run without a weapon. Or two. If I get jumped at mile 4 of 5, I will be less willing/able to knuckle with an attacker. I don't look like Psycho Sid, but I probably present a more challenging target than Fletcher did and I still go armed. My wife's friend said she would never carry a weapon while running and acted like the idea was ridiculous. I just don't get the head-in-the-sand mentality.
-
Imaaaaaaaaagine that. The a-hole could at least tell the police where the body is.
-
Local media and social media are fueling rumors, speculation, conspiracy theories, etc. One local news report even said the husband was spotted in front of his house yesterday!! So were half the husbands in America. So she was loaded or was going to be, so what. I wouldn't be surprised if, when the facts are out, two thugs with records were riding around at zero dark thirty up to no good when they saw a woman in a sports bra alone and took advantage of an opportunity.

Check with Design Jewelers on Kirby Whitten. I can’t remember the owner’s name. He used to also teach carry permit classes and he worked on a 1911 for me years ago. Stand up guy. I would also trust Weimar’s on 64.

My wife and I had this same conversation/reminder this morning and that was before we heard about this abduction. Two days ago, another woman and her kid were kidnapped at Target on Hwy 64 and forced to withdraw money from a nearby bank. They are lucky to be alive. There is no such thing as a safe area.

Kinda hits home because I run in the early AM too, often in the dark. There are much worse neighborhoods than Central@Zach Curlin, but anything can happen anywhere any time. I bet she had headphones, was often oblivious to her surroundings, and thought "I've never had any trouble." I hope she is alive. https://www.actionnews5.com/2022/09/02/woman-missing-reportedly-kidnapped/

How to ship a firearm for service?
deerslayer replied to billyblazes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Right, but first you have to be an FFL, have a Scheduled Pickup account, and enter into an approved firearms agreement, whatever that involves. Firearms just became the new HazMat. UPS accepts packages containing firearms (as defined by Title 18, Chapter 44, and Title 26, Chapter 53 of the United States Code) and firearm parts that do not constitute firearms as defined by federal law (together, “Firearm Products”) for shipment only as a contractual service and only from Shippers who are licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, or licensed collectors (as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code) to authorized recipients, as outlined in the approved UPS agreement for the transportation of Firearm Products. Firearm Products may be shipped only through a UPS Scheduled Pickup Account using various UPS pickup services. To receive service for packages containing Firearm Products, the Shipper must enter into an approved UPS agreement for the transportation of Firearm Products. 2021 rules: UPS accepts Packages containing firearms (as defined by Title 18, Chapter 44, and Title 26, Chapter 53 of the United States Code) only (a) between licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, and licensed collectors (as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code), and government agencies; and (b) where not otherwise prohibited by federal, state, or local law from (i) an individual to a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer or licensed collector; and (ii) from a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector to an individual. Firearms (including handguns) are accepted for transportation only via Scheduled Pickup Service or at a UPS Customer Center.
