I haven’t noticed the lawful concealed carry signs at Lowes, but I have seen the gunbuster signs. I always put them in redneck layaway.

HELP ME UNDERSTAND.....PLEASE
deerslayer replied to JohnSutton1980's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have quite a bit of experience with dot guns and feel the advantages they offer CCW types are a little exaggerated. They are quite useful for some. Arms getting too short and the front sight is harder to use? Try a dot. Worried about making a rushed headshot on an active shooter 50 yards away? A red dot will improve your odds. They are somewhat easier to use in low/no light. Other than that, ho-hum. From my experience, they are offer no more speed or accuracy inside 8-10 yards, where probably 95% of defensive shooting occurs. Much of the supposed advantage of dots is based on misconceptions about irons. The rear sight is not nearly as critical as some make it out to be. A three dot setup presents a cluttered-up sight picture that makes aiming slower and more complicated. A plain black rear sight with a fairly wide notch makes the process much more straightforward. Most iron sight shooting does not require one to focus on the front sight. In fact, all the rage in the action pistol competitive shooting world lately is the realization that many iron sight shooters can get away with focusing on the target all the time at nearly any range. This is blasphemy to some, but it is being trained and taught by the some of the best draw-and-shoot-the-target-several-times-quick/fast/in a hurry shooters in the world. This does not mean they are not using the front sight. Col. Cooper would probably roll over in his grave, but you can’t argue with results. Go get a red dot. They are neat and fun. They are a lot more reliable than they used to be. But the predictions about the soon-to-be extinction of iron sights are a bit premature. -
I had an extremely mild case of covid two or three months ago and I can 100% guarantee you the shot didn’t make it milder. I don’t know and have not heard anyone getting joy from a vaccinated person testing positive. I have witnessed the opposite, however. For the unvaccinated, it is quite ironic when those who got all their shots lecture us and wanted (still want?) to remove us from society still get the virus. Which brings us to the riddle the Faucists have never answered - if you get the shot and the shot protects you, why do you care if somebody doesn’t get the shot?
-
But the shots helped them have a milder case!

My BIL has a PhD in math and he hates it when anybody calls him Dr.

The problem with woke type people is they are often not debating morals or values. They are debating truths. "A man should be able to marry a man" is a completely different animal from "A man can have babies."

Victimhood is apparently much more appealing than it used to be.

Yes.

Work used to occasionally require me to ride around in the lousiest neighborhoods Memphis has to offer. It did not require me to do so in a red Miata with the top down blaring Leonard Skynard, but I did it anyway.
-
Nothing indicates that he actually wants to fix any of the issues plaguing Memphis.

Memphis can actually get quite a bit worse. They are already short 400-500 police officers and a woke DA who supports reclassifying juveniles as anyone under 26 is not going to help retain what officers are still there. Sycamore View/Macon Rd may get even more interesting.
-
I agree she needed to go, but I suspect for different reasons. She was sometimes quite unfriendly to law enforcement. I get the “has to get worse before it gets better” mentality, but there may be nothing left when we get finished getting worse. I don’t think the typical Memphian will ever come around to your “choose better” option. Someday I will escape from Shelby County.
-
The woke windowlicker that was just elected as DA will probably makes things even worse.

The twins are the ones who make me nervous. I carry a spare mag just because of them.

I see interesting people every time I go near Macon/Sycamore View. I think I’ve seen Jesse Pinkman, Tuco Salamanca, and Skinny Pete.

Multiple times.

That guy folded up like a wet dish rag after that last poke. Any idea if anybody was charged? Kinda worried for the guy with the knife.
-
Well the woke guy won the DA race and the lockdown guy won the mayor’s race. I wonder how long it will be before Theft <$1000 will no longer be prosecuted.

They were certainly part of the problem, but Trump helped them with his bullheadedness and flamboyance. The point I was trying to make earlier is that Dems are dumb to go after Trump if they are serious about winning in 2024. If Trump doesn't run, Desantis is the obvious nominee and he will be harder to beat than Trump. Dems' odds are not great for 2024, but are better if Trump runs.

Because Trump’s worst enemy was Trump.
