  1. Yeah, got mine on Saturday and was confused. I thought the real estate market was in the crapper due to property values being in the toilet, hence the desperate need for a mortgage industry 'bailout'. That's all we've been hearing about, right? Yet they decided that my house which has been appraised at the same value for 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 has suddenly increased in value by $40,000. This with no improvements whatsoever, inside or out. WTF? And then they say you have until May 1 to appeal (about two weeks) and that any appeal can not be based on the sole desire to reduce your taxes. WELL...the whole reason that you are jacking my value is to get more taxes out of me, but I guess that's ok if it's your motive and not mine. As I saw someone else say, it's pitch fork and torches time!
  2. No. I believe he left it to the Navy Commanders 'discretion' and if all went ok, then Obama says "yeah, I approved that, them's my boys", but if it didn't go ok, then no 'dirt' on himself. That's how I read it from the way that it played out. The lengthy h-e-s-i-t-a-t-i-o-n spoke volumes about Obama's willingness to do anything. This could have been over at least 48 hours sooner had he not had to contemplate the situation for so long. Let those who are trained to do so and who know what they are doing (not to mention actually being there on the scene) take care of the situation rather than arm-chair quarterbacking it from half-way around the world. This wasn't a threat of nuclear missiles from some renegade regime, it was four punk-ass terrorists and one hostage. The hostage Captain had more balls than Obama ever will and tried to expedite the anticipated outcome twice by diving overboard. Huzzah for him and the Navy SEAL snipers!
  3. You Might Be A Rightwing Extremist Comedian Jeff Foxworthy is perhaps best known for his line, “You might be a Redneck if…†Evidently, someone at the Department of Homeland Security thinks he may be the next Jeff Foxworthy. According to today’s Washington Times, DHS has just released a report warning law enforcement officials across the country about a resurgence of “rightwing extremist activity.†But DHS so broadly defines “rightwing extremism†that half of the country could be considered suspect. For example: - You might be a rightwing extremist if you believe in the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution, which protects the rights of the states and the people, falling into the category of “groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.†- You might be a rightwing extremist if you believe in the sanctity of human life and the rule of law, along with all the other “groups and individuals that are dedicated a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.†The report even expresses concerns about Americans who demonstrate “strident pro-enforcement fervor†of our immigration laws. - You might be a rightwing extremist if you have any disagreement with Barack Obama, because “Many rightwing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues…†- And you might be susceptible to “recruitment and radicalization†by other rightwing extremists if you a returning veteran from Iraq or Afghanistan who is “disgruntled, disillusioned, or suffering from the psychological effects of war…†Sadly, this isn’t a joke, and it is just more evidence of the administration’s pre-9/11 mentality. If the Department of Homeland Security is serious about cracking down on organized violence, then it should look to the Left. Investigate the anarchists and communists who stormed the streets of Minneapolis-St. Paul during last year’s Republican National Convention. What about the animal rights groups that bomb medical labs and threaten university researchers with violence? Or the homosexual activists who attacked churches after voters passed Proposition 8 to defend traditional marriage? While the Obama Administration is busy cracking down on the “vast rightwing conspiracy,†hopefully it won’t forget about the Islamofascists who want us all dead. -------- What about Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground?????
  4. You don't. But in the same way that not all muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists seem to be muslims... you don't have to believe in the Constitution to be a right wing radical, but all Constitution believers are also right wing radicals. Hey wait! That is contradictory! (or actually complimentary) Which means a liberal must have thought of it. They want to have us by the short hairs both coming and going. Whacko libs always like to have it both ways.

  6. Not directed at you Cajun, just along the lines of that thought... Yes, all of this sounds great in hindsight, but at the moment that it was happening I would have to agree with the OP's assessment at the moment. I would also be at a heightened state of alert if that happened to me.
  7. Yeah, the liberal hypocrisy is just an amazing thing. On the one hand, they'd rather we not have the power to defend ourselves because some innocent person might be hurt while we are trying to save our lives. But then on the other hand, they don't want to have the death penalty because some innocent person might be put to death. They want it both ways. They think that their stupid policies will protect everyone from everyone else and even from themselves, but in reality they can't.
  8. Not being critical, just asking, but didn't this just happen a few days ago or in the past week or two as well? where we had to roll back to a previous backup and lost a bunch of new posts? Perhaps we could have the backup done 4 times per day instead of just one? (just guessing here). I don't know how much the backup slows down the forum while it is in progress.
  9. I have one and love it. It is my main carry weapon. <<< see avatar at left.
  10. Now on their website - Carrying a Gun Wouldn't Necessarily Get You Out of a Shooting - ABC News and the three most recent of 356 comments - Someone correct me if I am wrong. But wasn't it the Pearl, MS school shooting in which the teacher went to his CAR to get his weapon to stop the shooting spree? What kind of odds do I get we will NEVER hear about that here! TCU_91 10:46 PM anyways.... who walks around with a gun to protect from a full blown shootout. i just want protection walking in a dark parking garage at night. they need to do a story on how many lives were saved by people carring guns... of course the government would never allow that. Shame on Diane Sawyer for stooping so low. shlaaagoober 10:45 PM I am a Canadian in Canada, a minister, and perhaps rather liberal minded in the eyes of many. I have also been in the law enforcement field for over 20 years. The 20/20 story seems very one sided, even to me here. Very political, much as we see here in Canada. There should be no question or even thought as to if a person who is legally armed may or may not change their chances when faced with a situation where they might defend themselves, family, or another person. It should only be a statement. That being that every person who can be legally armed, deserves the choice to defend themselves in the face of any such criminal act.The scenarios used in this part of the story were not reflective of the mentality of mass shooting events that I have been trained to recognize in a number of respects.God Bless. vermontca 10:45 PM
  11. Got there at 9pm, still plenty of 9mm, but no 45 or 380.
  12. Sorry about that. I'm just tired of getting stabbed in the back by these losers. I didn't want Corker, but that's what was left after the primary. And he turned out to be just like I figured he would.

  18. True. And we all know where a cork goes in a barrel - it gets stuck in the bung hole. So as mustangdave said, whoever bids the highest, that's the bung he'll stick his head in.
  19. And having a fawning media in your back pocket, illegitimate advantages like forming and using ACORN (among others) to push your candidate, using hundreds of millions of dollars in untraceable Visa gift-card campaign 'contributions' don't? He truly bought/stole the election. Unlike in 2000 when libs said Bush had, they just didn't maximize their use of the aforementioned 'methods' like they did this time. And they're already working it all for the next one to ensure that no one that they don't want in there will ever even come close. That's why these Tea Parties are rising up, because people are already sick of this crap, and that's why the left is trying to quash them - before they even happen. All of that is for another discussion, this one is about guns and how the left is trying to prohibit them.
