  1. Recoil to me isn't bad at all on the 460 but I'm used to shooting the bigger revolvers. With both I can shoot a 2in 3 shot group at 25 yards with the factory sights. I trust myself out to 50 yards on game with either.
  2. I mainly use the Taurus Raging Hunter in 460 S&W but picked up a Taurus 44 and plan on doing some hunting with it as well out to 50 yards. Have taken deer and pigs with the 460 and it'll flat do a number on them. This hog never took a step with a high shoulder shot. The Taurus 44 I picked up and going to try to do some doe patrol with it.
  3. Yep spoke to a gentleman about it and no written permission needed. I asked him about the spot I intended to hunt and it's good to go. I'll be trying it come the weekend hopefully.
  4. I was planning on pulling the boat down and doing some hunting on the undeveloped tva land and had some questions; so called the TWRA Regional Office and the lady told me they treated the TVA like private property. Is that true? She said I would need written permission from the TVA to hunt the land. I know on the websit for the TVA land map it shows what can and can't be hunted but doesn't say nothing about needing written permission. I'm going to try and get ahold of somebody over the undeveloped land and see what they tell me.
  5. I ordered some of the Apex Turkey Ninjas to try out in the Patternmaster and Factory Choke. The Foxtrot is on my try out list as well. This 410 has took the place of my 12, my back sure appreciated it on these steep mountains I hunt up here.
  6. This year I decided to jump on the bandwagon with the smaller bore hunters and picked up a Stevens 301 Turkey in 410 a month ago. I've always been a 12 gauge hunter but after doing some researching on the little 410 and TSS I had to have one. Plus I loved the looks of the Bottomland Thumbhole Model. I did some testing with the factory supplied choke and a Patternmaster Code Black Turkey. I tried two different types of the TSS which was the Federal #9's and the Salt Creek Customs #10. Both loads performed good out to 40 yards but the Salt Creek would put 130 shots in the 10 at 40 where the Federal did 94. The Patternmaster patterned the Federal better than the Factory Choke but was the complete opposite with the Salt Creek #10's. So the setup I decided to hunt with was the Factory Choke paired with the Salt Creek #10. Wednesday morning I got a chance to test the little 410 out on a nice thick roped East TN public land bird at 45 yards. Was a tad farther than I like shooting but had patterned the gun out to 40 and knew it was capable of ethically taking one at that distance. After lugging this little 410 around these past few days I don't think I'll ever break out the pumps again. Super light setup that shoulders nice and will flat do the job shooting TSS.
  7. I bought the Rampage 360 and got the Acu-Draw model, glad I did because after using the Acu-Draw I wouldn't have it any other way. Did take a big nanny doe back in bow season with it, didn't make it 40 yards before piling up.
  8. Just under 50 yards, using shooting sticks as a rest.
  9. No deer today but did break in the Taurus Raging Hunter 460 on this joker. He didn't take another step after that hammer fell.
  10. Got this 8 last week here in Scott County.
  11. I just picked up a Taurus Raging Hunter in 460 S&W and my main goal is to try and take a deer with it. Got it and 60 rounds of ammo off a buddy for $550 and couldn't pass it up for that. I've got it sighted in at 25 yards and can shoot a 2.5in 3 shot group with it. Would this be a acceptable grouping for deer sized game out to 50 yards? Later on my plan is to put a red dot on it but as of now just using the irons.
  12. Pulled the boat outta hibernation yesterday and went after some cats. Caught quite a few dinks but did manage to put two tanks and one good fish in the boat. Bait used was crappie and yellow bass.
  13. Was out this afternoon doing a little bit of squirrel hunting on some public land here in East TN and walked up on a decent public land 9 point munchin on some acorns. Really didn't spook that bad just trotted off after looking at me for a minute. Now I'm in the market for a crossbow. There's a place here local that has the Wicked Ridge Blackhawk 360 scoped package and they have the Wicked Ridge Rampage 360 Scoped Package with the accu draw option. There's about $180 price difference between the two. Both seem to have good reviews but is the accu draw option worth the extra $180? Looking for some opinions on either before I go purchase one.
  14. Me and my buddy been on the hogs for a couple weeks and killed 10 but got a good one the other night. My buddy was on the green light and soon as it lit him up he took off a running. Busted him quartering away on the run at 100 yards, the 450 still took out his lungs an the bullet was caught under the skin behind the opposite shoulder. Probably made it 80 yards before piling up. This is on private land with an exemption to bait and use artificial lights of a night.
