Just got back from another week in Mexico...thought I'd post a pic of what is in my pockets and in my clothing..... So what do you see and what is it for? Those of you who attended the April Training Day should recognize some of it.....

Unfortunately not this time. I had a family function in Knoxville over the weekend. I was just pimping the class for Tom in this thread out of sheer altruism. Hopefully it filled up and was awesome. But I guess we'll have to wait for a review....

The argument can be made that all of that stuff is already under attack NOW....

They don't care. They want civilian disarmament and don't care what it takes to get it. At least they are finally being honest about it. For YEARS they hid their true agenda. Now that former Justice Stevens has come out for doing away with the 2nd all the kooks are being a little more vocal.... But they need to really think this through.....they run the risk of a political backlash like in 94 or worse a cultural backlash and armed insurgency if they actually try to implement this stuff......

Erik, Honestly, the full size service pistols (and most mid sized) of reputable manufacture generally work fine. In fact, full size 1911s that are fed with Wilson mags and kept lubed tend to work fine. Most issues come from either aftermarket mags, or from cheap , or small guns and worst of all from cheap small guns...with aftermarket mags. That just seems to be the reality of it. But the ammo used sometimes has a hand in it too.... I'm generally not an early adopter of new stuff until it has been out for a year or so hopefully to work any bugs out. I'll probably get a Gen 5 glock sometime in late 2018 or early 19....Even the reputable manufacturers seemingly have adopted an alarming policy of using customers as beta testers for their products. How many recalls has Ruger had on new products in the last 10 years? And then there is the Sig 320 "not drop safe" debacle , The Glock 9mm Gen 4 initial issues (here's a clue... if you spring the gun optimally for .40 it won't work right with weak 9mm practice ammo) , so forth and so on. Don't take my earlier comment as a wholesale indictment of SIG. I have several 220 series Sigs (226, 220 ,229, P6) and would not hesitate to carry one. The "reliability is not everything" is a comment that (according to Todd Louis Green) was blurted out without much forethought by the Sig rep when FBI complained about reliability of the Sig 250 in testing. I have shot the 365 and it seems to be a nice pistol . But according to Lee, if you live in an arid dusty environment you might want to be real careful about keeping your mags clean. Or maybe Tom G just brings out the worst in mags. I hosted a Tom Givens Dynamic Marksmanship class back in 2008 in Ringgold Ga. My friend Derek brought his Browning HP . It was hot and dry and dusty (early August IIRC) and everytime one of his HP mags got dropped on the ground it had a fine film of red dust on it that clogged the mags and kept them from feeding reliably. He had to disassemble some and brush out the dust. My glock mags worked fine, but I also took them apart and cleaned them between day 1 and 2 just to be safe.....anything CAN malfunction. My general advice for reliable pistol function is to stick with factory mags (except for 1911s-Wilson works best in my experience), keep 'em relatively clean and keep the gun appropriately lubed for the environment and use decent ammo and it should work fine. And remember a class is a lot harder on your gun and equipment than an actual defensive use is.

Well remember ...the Sig rep did say "reliability is not everything" when the FBI complained about Sig 250 reliability in testing......

SUAREZ INTERNATIONAL CRG-5: ZERO TO FIVE FEET GUNFIGHTING July 7-8, 2018 Dayton, Tennessee Price: $350 Instructor: Randy Harris This revolutionary class focuses on integrating the pistol into the fight at zero to five feet. This is what some trainers call "The Hole" and their entire perspective is to "Get Out Of The Hole". We don't worry about "getting out of the hole" because the reality of it is that you won't. Instead, we get comfortable in there...we set up a nice cozy camp there and learn to thrive where other men fear to walk. We make the other guy want to get out of the hole he finds himself in as we start to rip his head right off his shoulders. This will be a very thorough study on how to prevail and not get killed at this distance interval. We will do a great deal of technical work to ingrain the correct skills and then work them extensively via force on force exercises. You have never sen training and information like this before. While I do want to make sure guys are in reasonable condition to handle this, you don't need to be a hard core athlete to do this. We will play hard. . . . but within reason for the attendees we normally have in class. SOME TOPICS: Dealing against the drawn gun. What are all the options? We will look at everything from running away, to drawing and killing him, stabbing him with a knife, to disarming him and shooting him with his own gun. Dealing against the drawn knife. Both from "hold up" type situations to actual attacks. You will deal with them with the gun in hand (this one is really cool), and with empty hands, leading into a draw and shots as part of the fight. Dealing with a fight in hallways, elevators, phone booths and cars. All empty handed, and with one leading to the other. Dealing with more than one bad guy. How to position and maneuver to deny them the advantage, as well as how to immediately escalate and take them out. The combined use of various tools such as knife and gun, knife and light, light and gun, gun and stick. Not only the how, but the why as well. These and other topics will make this one of the hottest classes available to civilian operators. This course requires prior attendance at an intermediate level Suarez International Pistol class. SUAREZ INTERNATIONAL Winning the Gunfight July 6, 2018 Dayton, Tennessee Price $200 Instructor: Randy Harris This one day training session will do two things. One, it will show you the failings and inefficiencies of the vast majority of range training taking place in the USA by public and private sector entities. No live ammunition necessary for this course. This class is airsoft only. OK last call on this one....this is coming up in just over a week. Tom is one of my mentors and even if he wasn't I'd still say he puts on a great class. I'd be there if I were not already previously engaged with a family event. The best way to get good traveling instructors to come offer classes in Tennessee is to sign up when they offer something....So if you can make it... sign up !

RESCHEDULED FROM ITS ORIGINAL DATE ! Fight At Night : Defensive Concepts for Dark Environments Date: Saturday SEPTEMBER 22 Time: 4PM - 11PM Location: The Ridge Dayton TN. (http://www.theridgeshooting.com/) Price $150 cash or check. ($50 Deposit to hold spot / balance due night of class). Instructor: Randy Harris This rarely offered class will cover some critical skills which include shooting with and without the help of flashlights in low or no light. We will work both proactively challenging unknown potential threats and also reacting to unexpected close range attacks in low light settings. You will see just how much light you really need to accurately shoot by and how much light you actually need to ID targets. We will also cover manipulating the pistol in the dark both with and without a light in our hands. We will load , unload and clear malfunctions with and without flashlights. A fair amount of time will also be devoted to using the flashlight as a tool to help you get deselected in the "pre fight interview" , use the light as a distraction device and impact weapon, and as a bridge from less lethal to lethal force. Range Gear and requirements : Handheld flashlight (Surefire 6P, G2, Streamlight Scorpion or similar). Extra batteries. Pistol and holster designed to be worn on the belt. Two spare mags (3 total minimum) and a mag pouch. Range Safety gear (eye and ear protection) . Clothing appropriate for weather. Snacks and drinks. Also bring a few rounds of your carry ammo so you can see exactly what it does in low light ! Ammo: Approximately 250 rounds. If you have a weapon mounted light for your pistol and want to use it for some drills then please bring it too. If your carry pistol has a light that is fine too just make sure it fits your holster. If you have a "blue gun" or airsoft gun and training knife or inert "trainer" pepper spray you want to bring feel free to do so. We will be doing some interactive exercises where students will play the role of both good guys and bad guys to get a better feel for just what each experiences when the techniques are applied in low light. If you don't see it from both sides you only know about half of what is going on. A $50 deposit will hold a spot for you in this class. Balance due at class. You are also welcome to pay in full in advance too. We are limiting it to 16 students so you might want to get your deposit in soon. To register or for more info either PM me here at TGO or email me at Cruelhandluke2000@yahoo.com. Hope to see you there!
