  1. +1 for the Read House - Got married there and heard no complaints from our friends and family.
  2. Have you ever really studied the purpose of lobbyists, or do you just assume that everyone in the house, senate, and white house is an expert on all issues? Lobbyists wouldn't be needed if you got in your car, drove to Washington, and spoke to your representatives as a subject matter expert. However, how believable would you be, how well versed are you on legislation that has passed and is currently moving through all branches of government, and how many of your congressman's constituents do you represent? Although the term lobbyist has become a curse word, they are essential due to the complexity of legislation. It's the only way to have a subject matter expert in our corner, respected well enough to be heard by our representatives, and backed by a large number of constituents. I am not a lobbyist, but have known several fine individuals who are or were, much better versed than I on the issues they represent.
  3. Guess I was wrong... Looked a little short based on previous experience...
  4. Well - since it's requiring a login - user posted an SBR or a pistol with a buttstock - take your pick. Looks like a 12" .223 barrel on an Encore with buttstock. ATF really doesn't like that kind of stuff posted for sale. They busted a guy on another forum for posting a VFG with an HK SP89.
  5. I bet nobody else is watching Little Bear with their 3 year old, or at least nobody else would admit it...
  6. Three of Lincoln Davis' staffers in 3 different offices, including DC, told me on Thursday that he was voting against the legislation. I thanked his staffers for agreeing with his constituency on the issue. Now he is not providing comment and has moved to the undecided column..... Not a big fan of turncoats... I've got a lot more respect for members who have voted for it since the beginning, no matter how misguided their decision making process was.
  7. Anybody want to point out the NFA violation in this ad: You must be a member to continue! Already warned the poster on the other site - this is not the kind of attention our local gun sites need... At least he's not a Tennessean.... and not on TGO.
  8. We've had dish for years. Make sure you strong arm them on giving you equipment upgrades for free - they will. The channel packages are a pretty good value vs. directv IMHO. The dual room HD DVRs are the way to go. We have two of them.
  9. DPMS runs about $1k. The Remington has a camo finish, target crown, and runs about $1300.
  10. I guess the hardest part is making sure you don't get it caught in your zipper.
  11. Anybody have experience with the Remington R25 in .308? Is it any better than its cheaper DPMS counterpart?
  12. +1 on that. There's another site around here that is a club of gun owners... there are more deadbeats and flaky members on that site... I've made mistakes when buying or selling, but my name and reputation is worth more than a couple bucks. Some people try to justify it by saying it's taking food off the table... if that's true, they shouldn't be trying to buy a gun in the first place.
  13. I'll take the Beretta mag. Will post something else tomorrow after digging through the safe.
  14. That just means you may get fired if you have a gun, but you're not breaking the law....
  15. We encourage CCW at work for managers. Too many crazy folks out there. However, if any of them carried a .22, we might beat them with a large stick. Be careful, you'll put your eye out with that thing. I guess a P22 is more concealable than a Red Ryder, but has about the same stopping power.
  16. Also, the comment about the different grips and slides being priced much higher - most of Kimber's other variations at higher price points come out of their custom shop, like the CPD II and SIS, both of which I have experience with. They are tuned a little better coming out of the factory and have other features like carry melt and special sights(in the case of the SIS). I've had some of the production model Kimbers, and you really do get more for your money on the "Custom Shop" variations. That being said, I'd wait for a deal on one of the custom shop guns in that price range. You'll be happier in the long run, and it will begin a new addiction to Kimber firearms.
  17. He can also meet you at an FFL in Tennessee to make the transfer.
  18. Is this the same Mike who used to call in to all of the sports talk shows to complain on a daily basis..... I lived in Knoxville from 2000-2003, and on my drive home every day I got to hear whining from some guy named Mike. Maybe it's just a coincidence...................................nah.

    Early SKS

Further info: on the right side of the receiver, the import mark is from Labanu, Inc., so it's not a bring back from Vietnam.

    Early SKS

I picked up an interesting SKS recently - a Triangle 26 from 1958. It hasn't been a safe queen by any stretch, but is in functional shape and has matching serials. Is there any collector's demand for the early Chinese SKS, or should I keep it to shoot? Again, for those more knowledgeable than me, the markings on the left side of the receiver are as follows - 23843XX /26\. From what I've read, that dates it just after the Sino Soviet models, and before they started mass producing crappy sheet metal.

    Desert Eagle .50??

I've owned a DE .50, just for the rights to say I've shot one of the most powerful semi-auto handguns made. That being said, you could save some money and time and have a buddy swing a baseball bat at your head. Try to catch the bat mid-swing. It's just like the Desert Eagle - hurts your hands if you do it right, hits you in the face if you don't.
  22. Limp wristing maybe? (and no, I'm not questioning your manhood....)
  23. Equality is more important than liberty. That's why we put up a Holiday Tree, Menorah, a Kwanzaa Misumaa Saba, a Festivus Pole, then went outside and chopped the heads off live goats to honor the rest of the eastern religions(pissed off the Buddhists though...). We then took all of it down and destroyed the holiday symbols to protect the beliefs of atheists among us. (Wait a second... atheism is the lack of a belief... can that be protected??)
  24. Drywall penetration/overpenetration are my main concerns with either bullet. That being said, I also keep my sidearm with me when deer hunt in an area with a substantial wild boar population, so I have to carry ammo that will make it through the shoulder blade of good size boar in case of an encounter.
