+1 For cross draw as well. I used to do the squeeze in between seat console thing but I just can't stand the idea of a loose gun in the car. Plus I want it on my person in case of a quick bail out and if someone does get the drop on me while I'm alone and they just want my car...they can have it and I'll still have my gun.

JMHO. But something is better than nothing, something gives you options..options are good.. no option is bad.

BTW unlike other states in TN you are not bound to the gun you qualify with as a carry piece. It is just a tool to qualify and demonstrate that you are competent with a firearm. Qualify with what you are most comfortable, confident, and competent with carry what you are well....the same with. Some states only allow you to carry what you qualify with. That makes the .22 a good choice BC you can get in a lot of practice CHEAP compared to any other cal. Also, practice with the same ammo as you will qualify with...that way you are sure of POA.

Not sure how your gonna get your permit faster while waiting 2 months to take the class...perhaps he has some connections at HCP office?? At any rate I qualified with my Walther P22 accuracy is the key in this test. While I had other options I knew I would be accurate with it. Plus the ammo price was far less, it's not about how big the holes in the target are just that they are where they need to be. Whatever your choice I would get some practice and be sure you are comfortable with the gun. With the ammo prices now you can't go wrong with the .22. Unless you just don't have the time I would check and see if you could take the class sooner and just be sure you make "the call" after about 30 days of jumping through all the hoops and you should be fine. Seems like you could have the permit in hand prior to the date of your class... Good luck.

Sheesh thank goodness our laws are written this way the printing thing is so subjective with all the crap people carry on their person now days phones, and other gadgets. I am confident in saying the overwhelming majority of "prints" that people see out in public are not weapons of any type.

Have not seen too much of an issue with 22Lr at my WMs. But I usually buy CCI and Remmington Golden Bullet. They have always had something hmmm may have to stop by on the way home and get a few more boxes.

JMHO the Walther P22 is a great option to start. Nice shooting gun, ammo is cheap so you can shoot a lot you can go use up an entire box of Remmington Gold Dot 550 rounds for around $15. I'm not scared to carry it at all. I'll admit it sometimes I do, when my attire will not work with my normal carry piece. It is proven beyond reliable for me with the right ammo. It is an intimidating pistol visually and I doubt a BG is gonna examine the bore of the barrel if drawn. It's a different discussion but the 22lr can be a very effective round if placed properly and has dropped more than people than all of those who think anything less than a .45 is a BB gun would like to admit. Those that argue it would just piss someone off would never volunteer to take 4 or 5 quick CCI Stingers to the chest then one to the melon. Then you could move up to the PK380 if she wants more power they are virtually identical. Handling effectively and muscle memory are key to a defensive situation. I think confidence and accuracy are as important as cal.
