  1. Thanks for all the answers so far, the drive is no problem at all when I can get what I want. I'll be making that trip soon. I've held them both and I think that is why I'm leaning toward the EMP, I was fairly confident in that. But I respect the wealth of knowledge out there on this forum, and when talking about this type of $$ I don't want to step in it. The functional reliability is really what I am hopeing to verify, along with just general opinions on what I'm looking for. Thanks a lot guys, keep em coming.
  2. For a funny yet surprisingly common sense other side of the coin search for "Penn and Teller Gun Control" on youtube. Good stuff.
  3. The funniest quote of all I thought was: "With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie" WOW +1 for Woody.
  4. Saving for a compact 1911 in 9mm. This will be my EDC I searched the old threads read what was there but am looking for more real world advice on this one. Got some time bc of saving $$ really want to make the right choice here. Other suggestions welcome, I am leaning to these 2 options probably leaning a bit more to the EMP right now. More than likely gonna go NIB unless I stumble across just the right deal. Thoughts?
  5. Good luck with all of that. I'd take the class and wait until your cleared up to complete the app. The class is good for 6 months (as long as your confident you can get cleared up in that time).
  6. My carry has been a full size in a OWB most of the time. When necessary I have a compact that I carry IWB cross draw. I find myself taking that more and more due to comfort and concealabity. A little less power and capacity beats bringing nothing at by a long shot.... #1 rule of a gunfight...have a gun. I'm saving up for an EMP and once I can swing that I think I will carry it every day...may varry the method but keep just 1 carry gun.
  7. Congrats guys on the permits...I have been carrying a full size weapon as well, I was nervous at first, but I generally wear jeans and loose over shirts anyway along with a good owb holster and gun belt, so it has been no big deal. People just don't pay any attention at all and to me that is not really a bad thing. Some of us do and if TSHTF I would prefer EVERY tactical advantage and option possible... running, hiding, ducking, weaving, taking a nap, but deffinately not haveing some sheep hollar out "shoot him" bc they saw my weapon--that would not be an advantage.

    Ballistics 101

Wow...that is nutz! Shot placement and if the TSHTF go for the 12ga...everytime.
  9. Sweet rifle. Wish I could afford one hopefully they will still be around when I can. Zombies beware. I second the thought on the 12ga.
  10. Nice.... bring on the zombies.
  11. Very nice
  12. Hey my favorite 9 is will share mags with your's, and was cheaper (er..less money) than yours...your right to be proud of it. Sometimes more money spent is just that, more money spent...I think the P series in general gets a bad wrap sometimes. IMHO, they are great lookin guns, and they just plain get the job done.....I know mine does.
  13. Nice pair now your all set if you have to go captian underpants in the middle of the night...shared mags and all...I'm looking for a PC9 (as the budget allows)...haah.
  14. Found in the situation that the OP describes and given the proper opportnity I'd have to intervene or I could never live with myself. That said confronted with it in reality.....god I hope none of us ever have to find out.
  15. Jerk...congrats man real nice.
  16. Wow...just wow. not a bad gun for $235 you spent Irish_red, not bad at all but that guy is crazy.... you could get one NIB for 1/2 that. Guess everyone is goin nutz.
  17. Cool learn somethin on here everyday. I'm not familar with the 410 so I stand corrected.
  18. Shotgun gauge is kind of an antique number and is hard to understand, this is how the numbers are actually arrived at--from wikipedia: "The gauge of a shotgun is a unit of measurement used to express the diameter of the barrel. The gauge of a barrel is equal to the number of solid spheres of lead each having the same diameter as the inside of the barrel that would in total weigh a pound." So the smaller the number the larger the bore. As caliber is a direct representation diameter, this is a weight ratio so it is a bit weird. A 12 gauge is 18.53mm or the equiv lent of .729 cal. A 20 gauge is 16.83mm or the equivalent of .615 cal. A 410 gauge is 5.7mm or the equivalent of .225 cal. The cal/gauge correlation only comes into play if firing slugs. The 410 is not available in slugs to my knowledge. For your defensive purposes honestly I would stick with 12 or 20. A 20ga with the right shot will get absolutely get the job done, and probably be less intimidating to you as a female shooter-recoil wise. Although I have seen plenty of females handle a 12. Most good gun dealers will have plastic dummy shot shells available. I would recommend getting a pack for whatever gun you decide on then you can load, unload, cycle the pump and get a feel for your shotgun in a completely safe manner. Good luck, be safe and train!
  19. I could tell you were a smart man willis68 carry on.....
  20. I have my 9mm ready at all times, in case the SHTF, but if I have a few extra seconds... my choice would be to go with the 12ga in a home defense situation. #1 Buck shot = 16 .30 Cal Pellets flying at you @ 1250 fps = a devistating hit given the same wound track of ANY caliber handgun. I would much rather have the 9mm or 10mm for that matter as a back up for the 12 ga just in case I have to become captian underpants @ 2am. But if there is no time to get the shot gun the 9mm it is, and I can fight back to 12ga. So if it is specific for home defense I'd go with the 12ga over ANY handgun period. Your milage may vary.
  21. betobeto--that quote is spot on all of it...I say let the sheep be sheep, we can't all be sheepdogs...just look at some people they can't drive their cars I don't really care to have them behind a triger.
  22. Nice you'll be seeing it real soon, mine came today, wish I would have made the call sooner but it's old news now. BTW check out the Cop 3 slot holster from Galco very nice for the money and has dual capability if you ever decide to use it. Verry nice for the $.
  23. Wooh Hooh....mail box buzzarding over got home from the office a bit ago and there it is....Wal Mart here we come...tomorrow though got some family stuff to take care of tonight..
  24. Completely agree Punisher84...it just seems to me that there are so many good options out there that with some research and time invested anyone who chooses to go armed can find a configuration that works for them. Too many people get wrapped up in brand names and marketing hype or their brother-inlaws-cousins advice, instead of making a truely informed decision. Again, thankefully, there are LOTS of very good options out there...find yours before you can't.
  25. These are so backwards...it's simple if you require me to disarm then you should be required to have armed security to protect me not the other way around. Some people need a headassectamy. IMHO
