If I'm following the history right, it looks to me like that amendment was removed and the only one actually left as the bill was voted on is: It is an exception to the application of this section that a person authorized to carry a handgun pursuant to § 39-17-1351, is transporting a rifle or shotgun in or on a privately-owned motor vehicle, and the rifle or shotgun does not have ammunition in the chamber. However, such a person does not violate this section by inserting ammunition into the chamber if the ammunition is inserted for purposes of justifiable self-defense pursuant to §§ 39-11-611 or 39-11-612.

And with this, I'd like to officially apologize to the members of the House for all those thoughts I had about them somehow, someway, screwing us over. Hopefully the gov won't pull a Kaine on us. Though it seems we have the votes that Virginia didn't, I really don't want to see this delayed. With that said, do we have a list of the "7"?

Restaurant Carry Where Alcohol Is Served In Other States?
RinTN replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Do we know if Dino's actually serves alcohol? I've never been there, but was under the impression that they did not. I may have to take a drive over and see. -
I'd be very pleased if we could get either, as long as the parking lot bill covered *all* parking lots. Hopefully in the not so distant future we'll have both of these unnecessary restrictions removed.

Very well said - both in content and tone. I hope that you send things like this regularly, as it comes across very well for our position.

Anyone had their HCP application lost in the process?
RinTN replied to RinTN's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Having experienced this problem, I would agree that everyone should call after a few weeks. Due to my call, the staff was able to find the problem and help me through the process of correcting it. If I hadn't called, who knows if I would have ever had my HCP issued! -
This might be worth repeating as general information. A lot of people have a "birth certificate" that was issued by the hospital which is worthless for legal purposes, such as obtaining a HCP. The day I applied for my HCP, the gentleman in front of me was very upset to find that the "birth certificate" he had was essentially a pretty gift from the hospital as opposed to a certified birth certificate issued by the state.

I saw that yesterday and the term "Yellow Journalism" came to mind. While it might not meet the exact definition, it seems pretty darn close. Heck, I half suspect that the question Sheriff Graybeal answered wasn't about the legislation at hand - as we all know, it does NOT allow for consuming alcohol while carrying.

Anyone had their HCP application lost in the process?
RinTN replied to RinTN's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
An update - After faxing my copy of the application form in on Wednesday, I talked to the rep and was told that she would call me back when the permit was ready to be issued. At lunch today, I got the call - 7-14 days! -
Titan, the below has held true for me too. Last night the store in Unicoi had just gotten in .38 when I checked at about that same time. So, there is some around if you're lucky. It really does help if you can figure out when it arrives and gets unpacked at the store(s) closest to you.

If I'm reading the above right - - we start with age restriction in original text of bill - house adds A1, changing it to age and time - senate removes A1, changing it back to age restriction per original text - senate further amends original text to remove age restriction So, I *think* that it is indeed clean at this point.

I hope that doesn't turn out to be the case for me! -
I'll fully admit to being one of those "some". This all might be very common, but it still feels to me like someone is trying to cause a death by old age. Hopefully you all are right and it'll actually be done soon.

I know it's not popular with some of the members here, but I have to agree with you. Maybe I'm just being impatient, but I feel like we keep getting told something to the effect of "it'll get taken care of tomorrow", but "tomorrow" still hasn't arrived.

Gee, you would have thought that the person taking the picture would know if they were OK or not. Given that the same picture was used on your DL, I'd guess it's just one of those situations the depends on exactly who happens to be checking the pictures at a given time. -
I've actually tried a couple of small town hardware stores myself, though without success. My hope was that they really sold very little ammo, and that there might be some that had been sitting there for a long time.

Is it - "they can search it" - or is it - "they can ask to search it"? That is, does the owner of a parking lot actually have the power to force you to allow a search?

Thankfully the copy of the application form that I have has the receipt information printed on it. So, I think I should be OK as far as that goes. I'm still wondering what should happen now that I've sent them a copy of the application. I would have thought that they would be able to process me immediately, but I guess they've got to input the form beforehand. That shouldn't take long, but who knows what it takes to actually make it happen. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that the state should have instituted an electronic form for submitting these things. If I could have typed the information in instead of filling out a paper form, then it would have been in the state DB when I walked out of the drivers license office. -

I paid cash. -
If anyone is in the JC/J'boro area and looking for 9mm, the Walmart on Market Street just got in three cases of WWB.
-
I did the same this afternoon. I got two boxes of WWB, leaving three for the next lucky soul who happened by. I really wish that .380 would start trickling in too though. I have a fair amount of 9mm, but very little of the .380.

So, if the majority report is accepted, does that mean that both house and senate vote on the proposed bill with out restrictions? If the minority report is accepted, does that mean that both house and senate vote on the bill with restrictions or does it mean something else?
