  1. I never said I could name a us citizen called a terrorist and stripped of DUE PROCESS I said US residents. They too are entitled to DUE PROCESS. And I gave an example of the 16 year old that was deprived of due process. Wether you like it or not the PATRIOT ACT gives the Federal Government the ability to violate virtually every right we have under the constitution. You were responding to someone else's statement which clearly was limited to US citizens. So, I was simply pointing out that the items you listed didn't really address his statement. It seems that the basic difference in opinions is that you think Constitutional rights apply to the whole of humanity, while most - at least here - believe they apply only to citizens, and possibly legal aliens. Also, please note that this 16 year old does not appear to have been deprived of any rights at all - he was neither arrested nor held under the powers of the PATRIOT ACT. His *mother* claimed to the news that he was, but all reports at this point seem to show that there was no truth to her claims. I guess that it seems to me that your argument is more about "God given rights" than "Constitutional rights". While the framers certainly drew on the former to enumerate the latter, it's also clear that they did not believe every human had the same protections under the Constitution.
  2. Hey, he specifically said US citizens, and these clearly are not. His *mother* claims he was denied his rights. She also claims that he is her poor innocent little thing that is being wrongly accused. I suspect that the reality - on all accounts - is very different from what she is claiming.
  3. I'm a little surprised to see all the negative comments about Mahoney's. Maybe it depends on what you're looking for, but in my search for a new 9mm I've found they tend to have prices as good - often better - than anyone else I've been to in the local area. They also have a pretty good selection of guns to chose from. Am I missing something here?
  4. I would venture to guess that he doesn't actually have to be present to physically "sign" the veto. I would think that he probably has someone who can act as a proxy upon his command. Again, just a guess - which could be wildly wrong.
  5. So, how exactly do these examples show a "... US citizen that has been labeled a terrorist..."? Unless I'm reading things wrong, these are all non-US citizens. And, this one... is about a teen who has made several bomb threats. I don't see anything about him being accused of being a terrorist though.
  6. That's pretty much what we had to do - nothing tricky like weak hand, draw, from hip, etc.
  7. FYI - it's already being discussed here... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/newsworthy-reports/22426-our-knives-danger.html
  8. That the part that bothers me about this situation. Maybe I'm just missing some glaring issue, but the state's law about preemption seems to ensure that things like the proposed beer permit restriction could not be held as legal. As such, I can't understand the reason for pulling this bill as part of some political trade to "close the loophole" - since I can't see that one actually exists. It seems to me the safest thing to do is let the Gov veto it and try to override him again. I'm afraid that taking step backwards will only increase the chances that we get stuck losing those steps.
  9. The Kingsport WM closest to Eastman must have had 6+ cases of Federal bulk .22 today.

  11. If I'm reading that right, it sounds to me like the reason he didn't state his opinion before was that he's the guy that's pushing for this - "to let the community debate begin" my !
  12. This thread might help... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/firearms-law-faq/21580-tca-39-17-1359-tennessee-prohibition-carry-notice.html
  13. Just curious - does anyone know if LEOs are subject to restrictions in posted locations?
  14. I wouldn't call that a rant by any means - just a solid attempt to help others present the facts to those who need to understand the situation. IMO, it's people like you who are willing to take the time to construct posts of this nature that give us the best ammunition for shooting down inane, and almost certainly illegal, local ordinances like the proposed.
  15. I was in there myself. They had gotten a case of bulk .22 Federal too.
  16. I'm with you. When we start acting like this because of the problem, we become the problem.
  17. Their twisted logic seems to be that they aren't doing anything about *you*, the gun owner. Instead, they are regulating the *business*, which just so happens to have the exact same effect.
  18. House and Senate have both voted to over ride the veto. The law will go into effect 7/14 I believe.
  19. It might be - blackmail by the government. How sweet of them!
  20. IMO, that sounds pretty clear. The only thing I can think of that they might be able to do is work the other direction, and pull licenses of places that aren't posted. Hopefully they will come to their senses and quit trying to screw with our rights.
  21. That was my thought too. I don't know how many permit holders there are in Georgia, but 50,000 isn't very many when California has a population of about 37,000,000 residents. As a percentage, that's only about .135% of California residents. By comparison, the CA says that there are about 220,000 permit holder in TN. Since we have a population of maybe 6,500,000, that would put us at about 3.4% - with more and more being issued daily. So, if you can get a permit in CA, then the laws sound pretty good. But, I suspect that getting one in GA or TN is a *lot* easier than getting one in CA. And, if you can't get a permit, it doesn't matter too much what the law says you can do when you have one.
  22. I'm confused - though that may be the intent. Is this an OpEd by the paper, that just happens to list contact information? Or, is this something written/endorsed by the gentlemen listed?
  23. A little better now - 51% Pro-2A, 49% Anti-2A 1416 votes
  24. FWIW - Rusty Crowe also says that he will be supporting the veto override.
