  1. An analogy is just one letter away from anal orgy, which is what happens when the victim of auto theft is held responsible for a wreck he didn't have anything to do with when some @$$hat should have just left his s#!t alone. I see how the lawyers are connecting the dots, but I think it's crap. =)
  2. I leave my keys in my car every time I am driving. If I get yanked out of my car at a stop sign and a thief gets into a wreck am I liable if my door was unlocked? What if the door was locked and all I had to protect the key was a small layer of glass? I know this is hyperbole but it saddens me that even here some are willing to place liability on someone other than the perpetrator of the crime. Criminals should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and law abiding citizens should be left alone. /rant
  3. Eff this. The criminal is responsible. I've got Christmas lights outside of my house unsecured. If some idiot steals them and accidentently hangs himself, electrocutes himself, ingests, or in any other way does harm to himself or others it's his fault. NOT MINE. This crap makes me mad.
  4. Just want to say a big thanks to David for such a thoughtful gesture. Happy Holidays! -southernaslyum
  5. I bought a quickset rekey kit from ebay. I paid $50 for it and have re keyed probably about 20 locks with it and have pins to last me a lifetime. They are available for the schlage style locks as well.
  6. Take a vet out to lunch and I bet he or she will fold it for ya.
  7. Interesting thread. I didn't read anywhere that the gun with the derringer was old, I may have missed it. Not that it makes a difference to me. I've had several guns pointed at me and walked away every time. Most of the time it was police officers. I kept a cool head and luckily for me so did they. The times it wasn't police was when I was a kid( maybe 11 or 12) A farmer chased us off his field with salt loads in his shotgun. He was very far away but one of my friends got hit by a few bits. I honestly think he just wanted to put the fear of god into us and it worked. We were hangin' out at an old family cemetery. No we didn't sue because we were in the wrong! My dad would have worn my backside out if he found out what happened. The other non police incident was a house party when I was 14. Dad came home to find his daughter hosting a party without his knowledge and chased us all off with a shotgun. We all cleared out before he cleared his bedroom door.
  8. I can't believe this thread isn't 20 pages deep already. And I can't bleieve Shaun of the Dead isn't on the top of everyone's list!
  9. I love my PT22 I've had it more than 11 years and have put tons of rounds thru it. I only wish it were sa/da instead of double action olny. I often carry it in a pocket holster but I do like the peace of mind a 9mm brings. That being said, I've got enough rounds thru the PT22 that I'm confident I can put a bullet where I need to. Careful, this may turn into a caliber thread. There's enough of those already.
  10. I'm partial to Cincinnati style chili. It's not for everyone with the unique blend of spices. I just came upon a great recipe rumored to be the original skyline recipe. I love it. I've got a batch in the fridge right now. I'm told Cincy chili is based on a greek recipe. Here's a link if anyone is interested. http://theurbannaturalist.blogspot.com/2010/10/cincinnati-chili.html
  11. I'm tempted to upgrade my vid card just for this game.
  12. My opinion is your friend is lucky he didn't get shot! He has some brass ones.
  13. Pretty sure it's fake. Still a bad thing to post.
  14. We need to print up a thousand and just give them to every toddler we see. When my daughter was younger she was always putting stickers on stuff! Disclaimer: THIS IS JUST A JOKE. TGO rules strictly forbid discussing illegal action.
  15. Is the place gonna be called point and shoot? Sorry I couldn't resist.
  16. Thanks again for the info. I think for now I'll leave it in the safe or mount it on the wall. If I get the itch to fire a vintage rifle again, perhaps I'll invest in a mosin or something similar in the future. -southernasylum
  17. Thanks for the info guys. It's pretty much in line with what I've found so far. I think I'll try to find some type of lighter 7.62 Nato loads to try in this gun. What had me wondering was the fact that mine is stamped .308W unlike many that are stamped 7.62, Then again, maybe I'll just let it keep the safe warm or use it as decoration. If I remember correctly I put an opening bid of $55 dollars on it in the auction because it looked interesting. I was surprised that no one else bid after that. Again thanks for the info. -southernasylum
  18. I bought this several years ago at an auction for next to nothing. I did some research and it was imported by Samco and reconfigured to .308winchester. I've never fired it. I've found lots of conflicting info as to weather or not these guns are safe to fire the .308 round. The gun seems to be in good shape. No excessive pitting or signs of damage. It's clearly stamped .308 and not 7.62 like some models. Does anyone have any experience with these. It seems like it would be a fun shooter. Thanks in advance, -southernasylum
  19. Pit Bulls must be the Glock of doggydome! Surely you're not inferring that the media might put out false information on the breed of dog. Kinda makes you wonder how many Glock stories in the news were actually pits! -southernaslylum
  20. I have a non biometric safe with the finger buttons from the same company and it is great. It provides fast access with multiple user programmable 3 or 4 digit combinations. It has an alarm if there are I think 3 consecutive failed combinations. You do have to make sure to keep fresh batteries in them but I change mine once a year to be sure but they still are functioning and I use it daily. Mine is an older version of the following link but looks the same. I actually got it on clearance at Wally World several years ago for about $40.00 I wish I had bought a couple more for my vehicles. 21. Have you tried pulling and releasing the slide instead of using the slide release? This may be an option.
  22. This calls for more dog control laws! Clearly there are not enough laws on the books regulating the ownership of dogs. /sarcasm
  23. Yeah, that was our first home and we lived there for 4 years. We got a great deal on it but it needed a lot of work. Before we moved in I repaired and painted all the walls. Put in hardwood floors and tile in the kitchen. Remodeled the kitchen. It was filthy when we bought it but I knew it had good bones. Spent nights and weekends working on it between work for a month to get it ready for our family. Now I'm constantly trying to maintain it while the tenant seems to do everything humanly possible to destroy it. We've recently paid it off and still don't make any profit on it just trying to maintain it. I think the perception is that we must be rich to own a rental property. That is certainly not the case here. We thought it would help us financially. It's more just breaking even and now if we sell it a huge chunk of the profits will go to capital gains unless we invest into another property. Kinda sucks. Hopefully we will make a profit on it one day. -southernasylum
