  1. I watched it four times and still don't see a gun! I must have the wrong link. I'll take another look.
  2. The Frontiersmen by Allan W. Eckert. It's hard to put down.
  3. I don't know about beltman but I just received one of the quickship amish work belts mentioned in another thread. I gotta say It's quite a nice cc belt especially for the money. They don't do vanity sizing so whatever you pant size is you should probably add two or three inches. Here's the link: CCW Belt - Amish Work Belts - Free Shipping -southernasylum
  4. Over the years I've probably been pulled over 6 or 7 times while carrying in both Tn and Ky. I always informed the officer I was carrying and only remember being disarmed once. My vehicle and I matched the description of a hit and run. I was pulled over by an undercover car and surrounded by 4 more cruisers. They all got out with weapons drawn on me before the one who pulled me over even came to my vehicle. After I gave him my license and HCP I was asked to exit the vehicle and disarmed. I was spread eagle over the hood of my truck and frisked. After questioning me about where I was coming from and running my info I was released and my gun was returned unloaded. The whole incident took probably 20 minutes from the time I parked. I wouldn't say the officer was polite but he was nice enough once they found out that I was not who they were looking for. The worst part is I parked right in front of my house when I was pulled over because I just arrived home when he turned on the lights. While being frisked I looked up to see my wife holding our new baby just home from the hospital that morning along with my mom, mother in law, wifes grandmother and my sister watching me get patted down. My wife just slowly shook her head and closed the curtains. She had been waiting for me to rescue her from all the family visitors. It was about 6pm in November so it was already dark and the place was lit up with 5 police vehicles. All of the other times that I remember I was treaty respectfully and only recently received my first speeding ticket. In every incident, even when I was disarmed, everyone went home safely! I still inform. -southernasylum
  5. Sucks that standard cfl's don't work with the dimmers installed in my house.
  6. That's great news. My mom's been trying all day to reach anyone. She's from Kume Jima and has lots of family on Okinawa. Thanks a bunch. -southernasylum
  7. I've got family in Okinawa and some of the smaller islands to the south. I hope and pray they are all ok.

+1 For Oscars! The fish tacos rock and the super nachos will feed both my hungry daughter and I.
  10. I like the Twilight series but then again I'm easily amused. Movies are entertainment for me. Some more than others.
  11. I agree on all points. If we hadn't called the police I'm pretty sure I would be sitting in jail trying to sort things out.
  12. I did this the firs several years and kept them in both vehicles. After a while I just decided I didn't need them. Glad I didn't do that with my gun! From now on I may just staple my wallet to my @$$!
  13. Sorry about that. Perhaps I'll share a bit more after I get a chance to obtain an incident report. Until then I don't think it wise to elaborate. -southernasylum
  14. I had a really crappy day yesterday. I'm not going to give too many details because I like my privacy. For the first time in over ten years of carrying I felt the need to put my hand on my gun, my last step before drawing, which is my last step before firing. I was scared for my life and the life of my wife. We were able to back away from the threat and call police. Meanwhile the other guy decides to call the police as well and tells them I had threatened him with a gun which he never saw as I didn't pull it out or mention it in any way. Dispatcher has us wait in car until police arrive. It was fast but felt like an eternity. Before they arrive I reach for my wallet to get my DL and HCP and my wallet is not there. I don't ever remember leaving my house without my wallet ever! Murphey's law. I was polite as were the police. They disarmed me and took my info and called it in. Both officers were very professional and I didn't have to lay on the ground which I was prepared to do. Everyone made it home alive and I haven't stopped thinking about the whole situation since then. The officers allowed my wife to take my guns since she had here permit with her and let me ride home with her. I think that's all I'm willing to share at this point other than to say after going over it again and again in my head I don't think there's a lot I could have done differently other than the obvious wallet thing. The other thing I was a little fixated on the weapon in this case a hammer. Again the police were very professional and polite as possible in this situation. The officer who disarmed me came back after hearing from dispatch saying he was glad I had my HCP and the situation wasn't as bad as he first thought. He also spoke with my wife and is HCP friendly mentioning his wife has one and reminding my wife to allow 3 months to renew as hers expires in Sept. I hated the whole experience but it could have been much worse. I left out a lot of details but that's the bulk of it. -southernasylum
  15. Unfortunately it may be easier to change peoples hearts and minds that us gun owners aren't all that bad than it will be to have common sense gun laws. Neither is an easy task. My biggest issue is that it's a law targets us good guys with a fine while those idiots that just got arrested for robbing all of those restaurants can't be fined. Truthfully, I would have less issue with the law if at least it stated everyone who carried past the stupid sign would face the same punishment. I wouldn't like it but at least it would make more sense. Doh! There I go trying to use common sense when it comes to gun laws. When will I ever learn? Maybe those without a drivers license who are caught on moving violations should face less severe penalties. Yeah, that's the ticket! -southernasylum

  17. Thanks for all the great info. I guess I'll just hang on to it for now. Not really needing the money. I just always figured if it hit this high I would sell but like others have said, it may go up still. It doesn't take much space and may come in handy one day.
  18. I've got just under 200oz not sure if it's time to sell yet although I bought it way back when it was around $3 an ounce. Y2k gladly didn't live up to the hype. =)
  19. Who gives the best price in the Franklin, Nashville or Clarksville area? Thanks in advance. -southernasylum
