Have you counted your ammo recently?
lowbud replied to mousegunner's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I keep a count. I keep everything (guns and ammo)logged in an application with descriptions and pics. I even keep copies of recipts. Sure makes it easier when and/or if someone gets into my house and takes it all. The insurance co would probably baulk at 3k worth of ammo on a claim unless you have something to support it. My count isn't to the penny casue I only keep tabs of full boxes. All full boxes of ammo are stored and logged into the safe. Bulk ammo and reloads I bag in lots of 50 and keep tabs on those too. Probably a little overkill.. But at least I know +/- ~50 of what ammo I have on hand. And in the event something does happen.. I won't get screwed by my insurance co. -
Becasue it just felt right to me. Weather they were scammers or not, it was my choice to give. You don't have a choice in theft. That was my whole meaningless rant.
-
LOL.. I hear ya.. but at least it was by choice. anyway.. no posting late night for me anymore..
-
Mike, Thanks for the offer. I picked some up at the last show.

Yeah.. The whole thing about the homeless guy was I didnt know if I was being duped or not.. I still gave him $40. Once I saw his family.. I took the $40 back and gave him $200. The point is giving, not steeling. The guy with the brass is a crook and stole from me. pisses me off!
-
Holy crap guys.. It's not about the homeless guy. Just delete the thread. forget it.
-
I really didn't think it was all that confusing but now that I'm a tad less fuzzy.. maybe it was. The "it finally happened to me is: Needed some 38 ans 357 brass so I started browsing the forums. I found a guy in SC with exactly what I needed 1000 of each and a bounus set of carbide dies. So I sent him $100 and waited. I'm still waiting. This was a first for me. In 15 years of buying/selling on the internet I have never been taken for a ride, until now. The whole bit about the homeless guy was about I'm ok with being suckered out of money... just don't steel from me. So anyway.. I started an inquiry on the USPS MO. I also emailed and called the guys local PD and Sheriff. Probably will never hear anything else about it but I wanted to make an attempt to catch this cat.

Na.. the moment of charity was a good thing. I'm just ranting about crooks. Pissing away money comes easy for me. especially when shooting or playing blackjack. Both can be expensive and rewarding
-
lol.. the point was, I would rather be stuped out of money.. ie: giving it to someone then be stole from. The two situations are different but tells the story. The situation with the hoomeless guy was... I was willing to loose $40 to a possible lie.. but when i deemed his situation real, I wanted to do more. The crook is on another forum. or should I say was.. he hasn't been seen since at least 3 of us sent him funds. Hope it makes more sense now. Oh wait.. I posted that after midnight. Past muh bedtime so all bets are off as to making sense of anything I say.

After 15 years of buying/selling/trading on the net I finally got screwed. I know it happens. We hear about it all the time. Yet until now, I have somehow managed to steer clear of these rotten little bastards. Nothing pisses me off more then someone steeling from me. I would much rather someone give me a sob story and ask for a handout (even if it's a lie) then to be a total thief. I know times are tough, I see it almost every day.. I even find myself more giving these days because of it. The last gun show in nashville I went to there was a guy my age standing at the exit with a sign. I don't remember the exact wording but it was regarding loosing his job, family homeless, and hungry, blah blah blah// We see those all the time too right? Well this guy was believeable.. No bottle of booze, no 5$ pack of smokes, no new shoes, normal dress, maybe a little rugged.. I thought to myself "Damn, this could actually be me" So with that thought I pulled out my "goodie" waud and gave the guy 2 $20 bills. I never saw someone so happy in all my life. he thanked me, over and over and over before scurying? away. When the light changed and I got stuck in at the next.. I noticed this guy heading to an old chevy caprice where he was met by a woman and what appeared to be a teen boy and girl and embraced each other. I couldn't stand it.. I did a u turn and pulled up right next to him and got out of my car. I asked the guy to give me the $40 I just gave him. He had a puzzled look on his face and handed it back to me. I pull out my waud again and replaced the two 20's with 100's. I gave it back to him and said you need this more then I. I didn't wait to see his face becasue I was about to tear up. I don't know why I'm even posting this other then I'm pissed this a-hole stole $100 from me and the more I think about it.. The more it urks me. So I hope this brass selling crook who stole from me gets what he deserves one day! Sorry for all the gramer and spelling errors.. I wasn't much of a english major. Damn good with french tho...

It depends on where the problem is. I know a guy that had issues here in TN. TBI had a record for him in Henry County but henry county showed nothing at all. He had to file papers in Henry County to expunge the TBI record. But I wouldn't stop at the local level. I would also check with the FBI.
-
I've been through this mess so many times I lost count. TBI will not tell you anything until you file the appeal. Once it's been reviewed and either approved or denied you need to make sure clear up whatever it was that casued the initial denial. If you want to know what's on your record you can have a background check done at the local level and with the FBI. It's possible someone elses arrest is showing up on your record. It actually happens all the time. Just like a credit report.. Always room for error. I would take the time and spend the $15 (i think) to know My record was clean. At least this way.. You can fax it into TICS along with the appeal so they have a copy. It's a pain in the ass for sure... I had a 25yr old arrest that haunted me for years becasue some moron didn't send the FBI a final disposition report when the charges were dismissed. So every time TICS ran me.. They would initially deny my purchase becasue of a 25yr old arrest that should have never showd up in the first place. (bastards!) Took me about 6 months to get the silly thing expunged.. Good luck!

I was at Gander Mtn. In Paducah, KY yesterday. They had one of these in the case. Vary nice gun. I would have picked one up but the idiot feds and the state line blah blah blah.. Oh well... probably didn't need to anyway. Like i don't have enough.

Great American Gun and Knife show in Clarksville
lowbud replied to lowbud's topic in Events and Gatherings
I didn't get to go. Now I'm glad I didn't. The bigger shows in Nashville are crowded enough so I can only imagine how bad it was in Clarksville. -

I'm helping to stop it by refusing to buy at that inflated price. Totally insane. Screw em. -
