  1. Ah, no, nothing is broken, these things are practically T-90s.
  2. A simple breakdown and cleaning of all internals isnt a bad idea every 1k rds, helps the longevity of parts. I can see through the gap in the "safety pin," (take slide from frame, looking at the inside of the slide where the firing pin is help, there is another pin that has a spring behind it, believe this pin is what goes into place when you're engaging the decocker to keep the firing pin from moving forward to the primer.) that theres a little rust on the firing pin itself. I also just acquired this 226 yesterday, and first thing I do when I gain ownership of any firearm is break it all down, learn the inner workings of every gun, and how to put them back together.
  3. See, the reason I'm not trying to do this is I'm afraid of ruining the finish that's currently on the slide surrounding the pin, how do you suggest I go about heating the pin?
  4. Ah, see, these would certainly help tremendously, because my punches keep slipping off because they're normal length.
  5. Okay, so I know how to break down this pistol to the bare bones, this isn't the first p226 I've broken down, but I've run into a problem, I'm the third owner, and the original, not the owner prior to me, I believe had it custom finished, anyways, the drift pin that holds the firing pin is apparently coated finish, and I'm having a rough time getting this to tap out, any ideas on how to solve this without damaging the slide or destroying the pin itself? Thanks guys!
  6. So tempting, just wish it wasn't the compact.
  7. I feel as though the reasons as to why it isnt like this is a concern in more residential areas. You know, Joe Blow with half an acre in his back yard, but can reach out his kitchen window and high five the neighbor in their kitchen, decides to set up a mini range in his backyard. Neighbors, regardless if they're gun enthusiasts or not, might find that to be an uneasy concept, regardless of how safe the range is. I live in the sticks, my closest neighbor is a 1/4 mile on either side, everyone has a range on their property out here, and depending on what's being shot, you might think someone was on your range in your yard vs their own, so I understand as to why they leave it to individual communities to write their regulations regarding this.
  8. These are beautiful, and such a deal.
  9. If you change your mind on wanting a shotgun, I'd be very much interested in this. Good luck with selling!
  10. Phillipe at Nashville Custom Leather in Fairview. PM me, I can tell you prices. He also makes grips, they're very nice can send you a picture.
  11. For anyone debating the value of this, between my family and I we own 6 of these, the price is on point, plus this has wooden furniture, imo much better than that synthetic stuff they're throwing on everything these days, I get it, lighter is nicer to carry, but you can't beat the quality look and feel of wood. Good luck to selling sir!
  12. Wait, so just to clear up some possible confusion, the only one available still is the Tactical?
  13. With respect to you, if you read all the comments, someone already stated this.
  14. For real, that's a deal right there, hahahaha. My suggestion to OP is similar to your current solution, get a close friend or family member to transport it if you yourself wont have the room. I've moved 5 times, I move my ammo and firearms my self, though, I dont know what I'm going to do if I have to move again from my current home, I dont have my Tahoe anymore.
  15. Thanks for the info, and it is not only more work, but also damaging to the case's integrity, I know a guy who use to do this until he had a serious malfunction, and suffered third degree burns to his upper body and face, along with lost part of his finger, lucky to be alive.
  16. I managed to find a Chinese marketed press designed for steel cases a few years back, works great, had everything I needed for most russian made cartridges, get 2-4 reloads depending on the condition and materials in the steel, also have everything to load berdan primers but since the ban on Russian made arms and ammunition, I can't get berdan primers. I know Hornady makes boxer primed 7.62x39 brass, they've got plenty at the place I shop at, I just recently got a box of these Monarchs and hadn't had the time to shoot them yet.
  17. I forgot to mention my irons have tritium in them, and let me tell you, tritium on an AR is very nice.
  18. And this brings me to one of my favorite points, because I assume that you and I are alike and keep them well maintained. My experience in matters such as this, and other bad reports like the 938 had of being made "cheap," come down to this: a firearm is just as much, if not more, of a complex piece of machinery as a car. If you take care of your car, it takes care of you, firearms are no different, and most major malfunctions are results of poor routine maintenance.
  19. To answer point 1) the one case that I know is making it to court is a civilian, and veteran. I'll attach the article below. 2) My uncle worked for Jefferson County in Alabama as a deputy, over the course of his career he saw two incidents happen involving an accidental discharge with a deputy, one was a rookie who doing draw practice in his home, forgot to make sure chamber was clear, put a round through his kitchen wall and neighbors called authorities, he admitted fully to his mistakes, lost his badge, and couldnt wasn't allowed to even get a carry permit for three years. The other deputy was an experienced one, and his glock went off went he sat down into his cruiser, turned out that his armorer polished the trigger bar and this caused a catastrophic malfunction. With all that being said, that one calls to one's integrity, and with today's society and the failure of the department in Uvalde, my expectations for one having said integrity is very very low. So, I see your points, I wasn't aware there was already a discussion surrounding this topic, otherwise I would not have created this one, lol. Heres that article: https://www.wmur.com/amp/article/sig-sauer-sued-pistol-lawsuit-61522/40301147 I do see a bit of the usual exaggeration when it comes to describing these incidents.
  20. Hey guys, just wondering anyone has shot these and if they're boxer primer instead of the berdan? Would make me a lot more interested in buying these in the hopes of having cases to reload.
  21. I guess i probably should've specified, I use the bore sights just as a starting point, I use the sled method to get it "true." I just, like I said, was curious if there are any better products out there that don't have little parts that break so easily or consistently.
  22. I've got 2 AR setups, one for distance, one for closer targets. My distance one has a variable scope, with a cowitness sight mount, so if something breaks I've still got irons. My closer has had 5 different optics over the years but I've finally settled on the Vortex Sparc, imo it has the cleanest dot, I have an astigmatism in my right eye, and of all the sights I've used, even with my eye, Vortex has the second most crisp dots I've seen, the only better optics I've used have been Trijicon.
