  1. Power belts, in my experience, are accurate and easy to load, but their performance on game is somewhat lackluster. I still use them just because they are accurate and handy. Congratulations to your wife. My wife has a shoulder mount of a spike. She’s not really a hunter, but went out and killed this deer just to show her older brother she could. She had it mounted so he wouldn’t forget. LOL
  2. Black walnut will make a serviceable gunstock. As others have stated, it first has to be dried. Inletting a stock, particularly for a bolt action rifle, is a long and tedious process unless you have access to a stock duplicating machine. In short, there’s a helluva lot of work between tree and gunstock.
  3. It is a little Tacoma and a large deer. Miraculously, it did not appear to hurt a thing on the truck! I did have a bit of notice, so I was standing on the brake pedal with both feet when I hit him. The deer went down a steep embankment into some grown up mess. I went later and tried to find it. No luck. I sure don’t know how he survived. The weather looks great for you next week, and the rut is in full blast.
  4. Deer were really active this morning. I still haven’t seen a really good buck though....unless you count the one I ran over this morning on the way to hunt. He was a nice one.
  5. From the reports I’ve seen, they didn’t.
  6. My kid sold a Knight to buy a Wolf. Lighter and easier cleaning.
  7. I’m not a fan of crowds. I hear it’s crowded.
  8. There’s a lot in DC I’d love to see, but don’t like lab on ever going there.
  9. I almost bought one once. Then I read about all the reliability problems, so I left it alone. They were a great idea. It just doesn't sound like the execution went well.
  10. They produced some 22lr versions of Lugers. The gun posted above is a variation of that. I have never seen one in person in that configuration however. You'd think that one would have been produced with a shoulder stock.
  11. I went through Bristol las year. I’ve made several trips to North Carolina, but holy crap! I didn’t realize there was so much Northern Tennessee east of Knoxville! It seemed like that stretch of interstate was longer than driving all the way through Virginia.
  12. I’m happy knowing I can load 38 Specials with crushed walnut hills for our next carpenter bee safari out in the barn.
  13. Nice offer, but you’re gonna have to come north a ways to get me outta the house. I hope you enjoy Nashville. Cut a hole in your mask big enough for a longneck.
  14. Good shootin’!
  15. I don’t save money...I just get to shoot more.
  16. Theoretically, you can save money reloading, but in reality, has anybody ever actually done it?
  17. Great post. Thanks for sharing.
  18. You don't reload to save money. You reload so you can shoot more. Sadly, reloading components pricing and availability usually follows pricing and availability of loaded ammunition.
  19. I'd like to give a heart felt thank you to all those who served their country!
  20. Ruth Bader Ginsberg lived with it seemingly forever.

  22. It's a rare guy that everyone likes. Alex somehow pulled it off. I'm not aware of anyone who didn't like him.
  23. That show is gonna be weird. I’ve been a Jeopardy fan for ever. I really liked Trebek’s dry sense of humor.
  24. She sounds like a keeper!
