  1. New York??!!? Are you going to be taking the photos from an unmanned drone? :ugh: Best first post for a new member in recent memory.
  2. That was fun! Show us some more.
  3. #1 is a toss up between a 577 Snyder and a 58 U.S. Berdan Musket.   #2 11x52R aka 43 Beaumont.   #3 I'm sticking with 41 Swiss Veterli.   These are still all guesses at some really old, odd stuff.
  4. Good call! 41 Swiss Vetterli?
  5. The one on the left is well over 2" long. A 44 mag is 1.61" oal.
  6. .....Thursday causes school Superintendent to close schools Friday.                                                   http://www.maconcountytimes.com/pages/full_story/push?article-Man+shot+in+Lafayette+drive-by%20&id=21978944&instance=top_stories   From what I gather, this was a jealous ex husband. Forgive me for being callous, but why would you close schools over this? People really need to turn off the T.V.!!! If they never catch the guy, are we no longer going to have school? How were the school children any safer on Wednesday or Thursday than they are today? It appears the brainwashing the fear of guns into people is beginning to take hold.
  7. Divide and conquer.
  8. On second thought, I'll give #2 a shot....43 Egyptian?
  9. If that tape measure is in inches, I'm guessing 577 Snyder on the first cartridge, and 577-450 Martini-Henry on case #3. I don't have a guess for #2.
  10. Start with a light load of Bullseye, and work uo to where you like. If you aren't getting enough velocity to suit, start over with Unique and work up. I've read, but can't confirm, that shooting hollow base bullets in a rifle isn't a good idea. Semi wadcutters will probably feed o.k. in your rifle, but wadcutters likely won't. I like flat point round nose bullets in mine, because they feed well.
  11. They should be punished....severely......along with whoever commands them, trained, them, etc., right on up to Governer Moonbeam Brown. The LAPD has a systemic problem that just happened to get highlighted in this particular episode.
  12.   Rand sure can do hisself some fillibusterin!
  13. Sorry for the bad advice. It seems I didn't understand how they worked.
  14. Yup! It wasn't what I'd call "factory ammunition" they were cramming into the Colt Army and Navy, as well as the Springfield Muskets either. This country has gone mad I tell you! :wall:
  15. You can freeze it, vacuum seal it, or keep it in a humidor. In a pinch, dried out chewing tobacco or snuff can be rewetted by sprinkling it with water. Freezing it afterward that helps to blend the water and tobacco. You can also remoisten it by simply chewing it, but moist tobacco is much preferred to dusty, dry stuff.
  16.                       http://www.nbc-2.com/story/21470336/ammunition-shortage-leads-to-potentially-dangerous-new-trend   Please define "new"? :squint:
  17. Looks like about 0.31" difference in case length between them. If you have enough thread on the die, it should work. No harm in trying.
  18. I've seen several instances of people failing a background check at gun stores. Enough so that I believe it is a common occurance. To my knowledge, these people aren't procecuted for attempting to break the law by attempting to unlawfully purchase a firearm. Why aren't these folks dealt with legally?
  19. Don't discount the used market. I picked up this model 39-2 a while back for $375. It was like new, and came with 4 magazines, box, tools, and all paperwork.
  20. Ouch!!! :ugh:
  21. I bought 13 boxes of Romanian stuff after asking this. Doing some cleaning up, I stumbled across it today, and had forgotten about it. I think there are 72 per box, and the cases are headstamped with a 22 on top, and an 85 on the bottom. What are they bringing today?
  22. Looks like a tool for opening cans of Skoal.
  23.   I have several bricks of Remington 22lr from the 40's or 50's. They still go bang, and have been stored in a non climate controlled garage for years.
  24.   Thanks. I have been informed that the "Keep out of reach of children" warning found on the box began in 1962. The cases are marked FCC, for Federal Cartridge Coorp. I imagine they let this stuff out for bids, and wouldn't be surprised of Winchester, Remington, etc., got in on some production as well. I know several companies made guns under the Sears and Ted Williams brands.
  25.   China I would imagine.
