I can't wait to see the pictures!

Sounds like a fair price. They're freaking loud!!!! Wear ear protection.

I'd be surprised if that ain't a real good shooting rifle. Looked like a fair price as well.

It's likely that the wax seal has deteriorated. They are little trouble to replace and cost around two dollars. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE NUTS THAT SECURE THE TOILET TO THE FLOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trust me...I know.

How to stop constant rust?
gregintenn replied to Thince1980's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Make sure to use 0000 steel wool as the coarser variations will remove your finish in a hurry. -
Too big would be my main problem carrying it concealed.

Why can't you practice with hunting loads? FMJs cheaper?

I was of the opinion we were having a conversation. I wasn't "beating up on him". I fully respect his freedom to conduct his business any way he wishes. I expect he likes feedback from customers and potential customers. He doesn't have to adjust his business model with every piece of information he recieves, but if he considers other opinions, he can filter through them and hopefully learn something he hadn't considered that might make him more successful. I never once said he didn't have the right to do as he sees fit. I simply offered a different point of view. I challenge you to go to the beginning of this thread and actually read it before commenting on it.

I see it as a way to say "If you don't belong to this group I approve of, bend over!" I believe most of us strive to help improve humanity in one way or another. To each his own I guess.

Keep an eye on Gun Owner's Club. I've actually found some bargains there. - Gun Owners Club! - A Place for Gun Enthusiasts

A pressure cooker will tenderize them much faster than a crock pot if you're in a hurry.

I'd like to clarify my earlier post. I admire and respect our Service members and former service members as much as anyone. I support the USO. I try to regularly thank them for their service to our country. I didn't mean to disrespect our fighting men and women in any way. I simply don't understand why a price for goods should change depending on who's buying them.

Don't look to the 742 for jaw dropping accuracy. For accuracy at a great price, I'd look at the Savage bolts and maybe a Remington model 700 ADL. Savage makes a butt ugly, yet very accurate and affordable rifle. If you can find one, Savage once made a model 99 lever action in 243. I have one and LOVE it.

I guess I was wrong. I just saw your other post. That is a beautiful girl. I applaud you on being a good father and spending time with her. It will stay with her all her life. I wish more parents would follow your lead.

Congratulations. Killing a deer with a bow is a pretty tough venture in my opinion. Thanks for sharing.

I salt and pepper them, put them in the crock pot whole, and fill it with enough water to nearly cover them. Then I add 1/2 stick of butter and cook on low overnight. The meat falls off the bone. I then debone the meat, return to the crock pot, and put in dumplings and cook until done; about 30 minutes. An easy way to make dumplings is to cut flour tortillas into strips. They are good fried, but you often need to boil them for a while first so they won't be so tough. If you leave the other one in the crock pot long enough, it WILL be tender.....eventually. I'll bet the tough one was a fox squirrel.

I'm glad that so far in America, a man is able to run his business pretty much as he sees fit. I think the earlier post is harsh, but I sort of agree with it. I strongly dislike the practice of offering different prices to different segments of society. The senior discounts at restuarants are an example of this. It may show respect to them, but in my opinion, it is a slap in the face to the rest of the customers. That being said, welcome aboard, and I support your right to run your business any way you see fit, even if I disagree with it.

I have two currently, and the 243 Winchester is a great rifle cartridge. It will reliably kill any whitetail deer in Tennessee. If it will kill a deer, you know it will kill a coyote. Anyone who tells you a 243 isn't an adequate deer cartridge knows more about talking than they do firearms. Ammunition is readily available anywhere that sells ammo, and inexpensive as well. The 100 grain Remington loads at WalMart shoot great in my rifles, and are all you need. The 243 is a popular chambering, and most any centerfire rifle, save for most levers and ARs, are available in 243. Browning even still makes a lever action BLR you can buy in 243. Unless you are hunting dangerous game, I see no downside in the ever popular 243 Winchester.

I think George Jones nailed it when he said "There's only one difference in sinners and saints.....one's been forgiven and the other one ain't".

First season mistakes, I should start a book...

"I should have tried that with the skull, my concern was the smell because of where I live." After removing the hide from the skull, I put it in a bowl of salt. The salt dries it out with little to no odor. It does take a while, so be patient. -

[quoteI do hope one day to take a nephew out but I will say I felt like a kid when I saw that buck walk out.. ] If you're anything like me, watching him get his first deer will top yours. -

Sounds like you are having fun, so I'd say you're doing everything right. Hope you continue to enjoy it. I don't bowhunt any more, but I always look forward to taking my son on the juvenile hunt, followed closely by muzzleloader season. You haven't lived until you see how excited a little boy gets when a buck walks under his stand! -
My wife has her own guns and does not screw with mine.
