  1. I forgot to post my EDC pic. Flickr Photo Download: P1000703
  2. I was into watches, until my wife was into watches, rings, diamonds, etc. Now I just wear a Heuer Link automatic chronograph. Flickr Photo Download: P1000703
  3. have you considered other .308? Upon advice, I ended up with an FNAR from Hero. Its a great rifle that is scope friendly. For the price of a SOCOM, i ended up with a ruger mini and FNAR.
  4. Grip safety should not be a determining factor when it comes to kid safety. For what its worth, I traded my XD9 for a Glock 26. I think the XD is much better if you plan to add lights, extended mags, etc. Its also a little better from an accuracy standpoint. the glock felt better to me, has a tougher finish, and has a better trigger. All opinion!
  5. Your buddy should get a bersa. I have always thought they were a superb pistol at a great price. Keltec is adequate and relatively inexpensive. With the keltec, you get what you pay for. No disrepect intended.
  6. I like the youth 870 express. Its not too expensive.
  7. I need all those plus a boat gun, bible gun, soap on the rope / shower gun, mailbox gun, riding lawnmowe gun, etc.
  8. Guys, About 2o years ago, I inherited an unfired S&W .32S&W long revolver. Ubfortunately, it has been stored holstered in a damp environment. There are quite a few pits in the nickel finish. Anyway, I love the pistol, but would like to snub the barrel and refinish. I'm leaning towards a bright blue, but a new something silver would be nice. Any advice for chopping barrel to 2", adding a front sight and refinish? Thanks, Mark
  9. I like your style! I use a 4 5/8" SS ruger vaquero and marlin 1894, both in .44 mag, for my hog duties.
  10. I said the same thing. Waited a few years, then ended up with a mini-30 and an FNAR. I ended up buying a stainless mini with wood stock. I sold the wooden stock on ebay and bought a Hogue overmolded with the cash. I added a compact nikon scope. So far, I've been ok with the accuracy. It shoots 2-3" groups out to 150 yards with good ammo. Russian ammo doubles the spread.
  11. Thanks, Mag availability is still an issue. They show up occasionally, but the normal suppliers remain on back order.
  12. Yes, its really nice. I'm very happy that they steered me towards the FNAR. I added a Pentax lightseeker rifle scope. Its a very sweet setup. Its rare that a shop spends enough time to understand what your're really looking for, then throws out suggestions that are not on "the list". In my case, i was looking for a well made, very accurate, reasonably priced semi-auto rifle in .308. One shop told me that "no such animal exists". Thanks again Hero!
  13. Flickr Photo Download: P1000674 I normally don't post pics of purchases (paranoia of black helicopters:tinfoil: flying over my house), but I'm going to make an exception this time. Joe and GCrookston @ Hero-Gear set me up with an FNAR. As usual, the price and service was exceptional. Anyway, I really appreciate the superb service and communication provided by these guys. Also, I was truly amazed at the amount by the variety and depth of the inventory. I'm already planning another visit. Its definitely worth the tracel time. Heck, I'm thinking that we might take the family vacation there next time:D Mark
  14. is there hate? I figured lust. I'd like one.
  15. Jennings is garbage. Personally, I do not trust the opinions of people that endorse a Jennings as a real pistol. Similarly, I doubt those who claim that taurus is junk.
  16. Make sure you design to include or accomodate a dehumidifier. The cabinet needs to be able to eliminate the moisture from the building materials as well as any moisture picked up from outdoor usage. Also, I doubt you're going to develop a stylish "fire safe", but its definitely possible to build a secure and stylish cabinet. You'd just need to add some well placed hardened steel bars. Finally, make the piece so it can be bolted to the floor. If you figure this out, please post your work. My wife owns/operates a residential kitchen, bath & closet design firm. Accomodating a gun safe isn't easy.
  17. The Rabbi did that a while back. Made me feel the same way.
  18. I'd go cheap. Pickup an ugly 870. Chop barrel to 19". Do the home bake parkerizing. Add a speedfeed IV stock. For sights, go with the ATI heatshield or something else that's relatively cheap. This setup will set you back about $300 for receiver, barrel, stock and stuff.
  19. Guys: I'm thinking about selling my childhood .22. Its a well used Remington Nylon 66 (post-68). Its missing the front site and rear windage screw. Has a small amount of pitting and normal scratches and such. I'm hearing that these things have become very collectible. Anyone have any thoughts on what I should be asking. Thanks, Mark
  20. What a zoo! Not worth the $10 and standing in rain for 20minutes.
  21. I will be there as well. Look for the guy with a fat wallet and "I voted for Obama" sweatshirt. This is a joke!
  22. i've been wanting one, but the prices are incredible. I just don't understand the pricing given the model. Must be supply side economics.
  23. Guys: I noticed there's a new gun shop off of Watt road. Its located about 1/2 a mile west of that big fireworks store. I stopped in and the guys are super nice. Pricing is pretty average. Selection isn't great, but they're builind up. Also, they will special order.
