  1. That kid is screwed. Self inflicted, but screwed nonetheless.
  2. Actually, if I lived downtown, I'd most likely take 55 to the one in Southaven. about 20-25 minutes once you get on 240. Plus, lower sales tax and if you decide to grab a bite to eat you don't have to worry about whether the place serves alcohol or not. As far as places not to go, that's the easy part. You will learn that pretty quick, much more fun is learning the places TO go. When you get into town, throw me a PM and the wife and I would love to show you and your Mrs. some of our favorite little spots to eat and the more interesting sights around town (Graceland will not be on our tour, sorry).
  3. That must be @ the T1G facilities outside of Crawfordsville, AR. The AAC silencer shoot will be held there in Oct. I would love to get a look at the facilities as they look pretty interesting from the aerial maps.
  4. I bet the bayonet on my Mosin would look better covered in red, ichor, and bits of meat.
  5. The Island is fine and like most decent neighborhoods in Memphis no more than 2 blocks from the ghetto. Situational awareness is key here. Know where you are, and where you are going and you will be fine. As far as Wal-mart in West Memphis, it isn't any sketchier than any other wally world with the exception that you do have a higher number of tweakers running around the joint, but eh, it's Arkansas, that should be expected. That wal-mart may not be as convenient as it initially appears due to the construction going on with the interstates. Far too much one lane super slow traffic. It may be just as fast to head out to one of the wally world's out east.
  6. Many people are, but they shouldn't be. As far as the left to right listing, the farther left you go the more closely a specific brand adheres to the M4 Technical Data Package (TDP). The intended usage of the rifle will determine what items on the list apply to you, with some being absolute necessities (properly staked gas key) and some not so much depending on intended function (extractor spring insert, hand guards, barrel twist). Bear in mind also that this chart is based around the M4 with a carbine length gas system and if you have a rifle length AR, some of these items will not apply to your weapon.
  7. mmm, that looks like it just might be on the menu for lunch.
  8. I once did the math and figured out that my work pays me somewhere around $650-700 a year to poop. I don't call anybody when I am making that money though...
  9. I have no problem dropping a deuce while at work, in fact I take great pleasure in it. This little cartoon from http://www.toothpastefordinner.com should explain why.
  10. That was funny, I don't care who you are!
  11. Me too, went from none to 4.8 (AR still needs BCG to be done complete).
  12. Something else he posted recently that I think would find agreement here is this... You know, that might just be my new sig line...
  13. +1 for Marko Kloos. He writes a really nice, often quotable blog.
  14. Didn't know there was such a thing.
  15. The wife and I are talking quite seriously about her going off the baby repellent and y'all are almost giving me second thoughts. I already know that any of our crotchfruit will be demon spawn requiring many beatings simply because they are mine, but man, I don't know if I am ready for all that mess.
  16. The wife got printed yesterday. I'm so proud! Plus, as an added bonus we have to go gun shopping again as she doesn't really care for the way the Taurus Slim feels in her hand. Believe it or not, she wants something larger. My wife fricken rocks!
  17. I am almost done with building my first AR. Last time I fired one was in BMT when I was in the AF. It has been fun and really easy to do. Once I get my BCG and charging handle I will get to see how good of a job I did, lol. I have to give the experience of building this m4gery a big lots-o-fun.
  18. One thing I think may be important to consider is if the class is built around the AR and AK platforms, do you want to use a carbine that has a vastly different manual of arms? How much of the training will be lost by having to translate each lesson to your weapon system? Is your choice of weapon system going to slow the pace of the class down by causing the instructor to have to spend valuable time having to essentially instruct you separately. Does the instructor of the class have enough knowledge of your weapon system to effectively translate the lessons from the primary platforms to yours? With the investment in class cost, ammo, gear, etc. I am not sure a carbine class is the proper place to be unique. If you want to use a weapon system other than the one(s) the class the built around then private instruction may be more effective. I could be totally off base, but those are the questions that come to my mind.
  19. I have pledged but not given as of yet, I have to wait until Friday (payday). I apologize for being last minute but I don't think the $.35 in my pockets at the moment will do much good.
  20. This thread is starting to read like a transcript of Coast to Coast AM. All we need now is Art Bell.
