Anyone ever wrongfully denied on for purchase?
~48_South~ replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This gets cleared up pretty quick, from what I have experienced normally same day or a couple of days max from when you send your form back. -
I would hunt down a Mak 90 before going the WASR route, or save up a few hundred more and get yourself an Arsenal. All of that being said I have never owned a WASR(Hate their stocks) and if I didnt want one when they were $350 NIB I sure dont want one now that they are pushing $500.

Just dont buy a Bushmaster no matter what, I have bought 2 Bushmasters in my life, a AR15 a few years back something happened to its bolt carrier 29 rounds into the first mag causing it to be sent back to the factory the day I got it, and today I took out my BRAND NEW $2200 Bushmaster enhanced ACR and its a broke POS as well, charging handle reciprocates and after you fire a round it wont fully seat the new round in the chamber so it has to be sent back to the factory immediately as well. I have owned several DPMS rifles and they have always worked great for me. I shoot 300-500 rounds a week during summer months and none of my DPMS rifles have ever had a hickup, and Im talking TRAINING not target practice.

Glock 19 wins hands down imo, that being said the 2022 shoots good but its a bigger gun.

You can find the Armalite AR50's from $2600 to around $2800 I wouldnt spend any more than that on one. I was going to buy one off of CTD a while back but they are currently out of stock. Best way to find one I think is to either look on gunbroker or just google what you are looking for and edit it for shopping and go through and find one from a nice store you are familiar with or that has great feedback.

The Springfield EMP is the only 1911 I wont ever sell and I have owned a ton of 1911's from Rock Island Armory to Nighthawk and pretty much everything in between didnt like any of them, all of that being said I decided to try the Springfield EMP in 9mm and this gun is AWESOME!!! It is EXTREMELY accurate and controllable, perfect size for carry, ammo is cheap compared to 45acp and dont let the small size fool you I decided to try my luck against a 24x18 target at 86 yards and put almost half the mag on target which suprised the hell out of me.
-
I dont like the ergonomics of it really, if it was around $1,200 I would probably buy one but for $1,800+ Im going LWRC,LMT,ACR
-
I would go with Buds have used them several times, shipping is free so all you have to pay is transfer with your ffl and background check which typically runs around $30
-
Looks more like a Steyr than any of the others imo
-
As long as both of you are Tn residents then it is legal to do so without the use of an FFL dealer for the transfer.

Whats ridiculous about the MK23? Its one of if not the best shooting handgun I have ever shot, and thats with handguns double the price in the running against it.
-
I would go with the Kel Tec mine shot great and it takes Glock mags which is a huge plus, Im not a fan of high point.

The Desert Eagle is actually a fun gun to shoot and was quite accurate in 50.AE, I also had a 4" S&W 500 which sucked to shoot, its like it made every bone in your arm vibrate which I did not like and quickly developed a flinch with it. 50 AE has less energy and typically lower grain than the 500 though, that being said my Desert Eagle through out a huge fireball that the 500 did not so it made shooting on indoor ranges alot of fun. My Desert Eagle ate any and all ammo I could get for it and was far from being finicky.
-
I hated mine, just didnt shoot good for me, I literally bought it went straight downstairs to the range shot it and then immediately went back upstairs and traded it in for a loss. That being said you may love it,if at all possible I would try and see if there was a way you could shoot one before the purchase.
-
I wouldnt go with a Carbon 15 Ive never really liked them, have no good reason other than the materials they are made of. Bushmaster is also the only BRAND NEW rifle that broke on me immediately when shooting after purchase, that was several years ago and something happend to the bolt dont really remember but it had to be sent back.

I'm looking for a gunsmith to put my AK47 together

Rifle Dynamics in Vegas hands down. -
I have all of the Magpul Series including the Art of the Precision rifle, and lastnight I ran across Travis Haley's(One of the guys from MagPul) series. specifically his Adaptive Kalash DVD which is basically like the other MagPul DVD's but in this one he is only running an AK47/74 and he is trying to teach you the best way to run the AK,from what I have seen so far its pretty good. A friend and myself would be interested in linking up with some of you to shoot as well we have the targets for the most part, just finding free time to do it will be my problem.

I meant if you decide to go with an AR shooting 7.62x39 make sure its chrome lined. Chrome lined barrels tend to help with extraction, more corrosion resistant, and from what I understand chrome lined tends to win in the longevity department but then again thats hear say, but as you stated non chrome lined barrels tend to be more accurate. Anyways back to your original topic, I would go with the HK or the Noveske way before the others you listed, but when I decided I was going to buy a $3,000 rifle I went with a Black SCAR 17s which I love(Mags are a pain to get though), if you are stuck on 5.56 you could always go with the Scar 16s and use the difference between it and the HK to buy a good optic.
-
Dont know what Arsenals you already have but with what seems to be your budget you could always go with a Arsenal SAM-7, as far as a good AR in 7.62x39... well that depends what ammo you plan to shoot out of it, steel or brass cased 7.62x39. Alot of people do not like the idea of shooting steel cased ammo out of an aluminum gun, and as far as I know AR's in 7.62x39 are basically the same old DI guns like the "Typical" AR in 5.56 which seem to not like dirt very much so I imagine when you step it up and run nasty milsurp 7.62x39 ammo in it you might run into more issues. All of that being said if you do go the AR route you will definitely want to make sure whatever you go with has a chrome lined barrel.

I personally think he got off rather easy, I mean how many Federal gun laws can you or myself get caught breaking(Accident or not) and still be able to walk the streets free much less still OWN and BUILD firearms... As far as 100% proof he lost his FFL I cant give you that but he is no longer the OWNER of Red Jacket, rather just an employee. Yes Sabre Defense in Nashville has been in trouble a couple of times I think, once for pretty much the same thing as Red Jacket and then maybe another for illegally exporting firearms to Europe? I could be wrong on that but Im pretty sure thats what happend.
-
My thing is I havent seen Red Jacket do anything with AR's or AK's(For the most part) other than change some parts out here and there or modify a gas system, stamp their emblem on it and charge a ton for it. I wouldnt buy one of their products because I think the company is cheap I mean am I the only one who watched the TV show at all??? They acted like they had no clue as to how to assemble an AR for the episode where they went to Vegas, I mean I could understand if they were infact machining all of their own parts from scratch in house, but they were simple putting one together and were acting like it was rocket science. I mean they have a 50 BMG Upper for an AR lower on their website that is suppressed and they are wanting over $4,000 for it,or their Gas Piston AR is $2,500...maybe its just me but I would go with an HK,Barrett,LWRC,LMT if Im going to be spending that kind of money. And yes Will did lose his FFL, the company was made into a LLC that was shared by 3 of the employees one of whom left, and the reason he lost his FFL is 2 or so firearms were "Stolen" and they said they "Threw Away" some recievers rather than disposing of them properly.

Kahr's to hit or miss to take a chance on a used one
~48_South~ replied to Patton's topic in Handguns
The thing is Ive seen Glocks go 15,000 rounds without cleaning much less part replacement in torture test... As far as Kahrs go, I always wanted one but they were high when I was looking at them(Around $700),but I have a strict policy on NOT using firearms with bad reps and or a firearm that breaks on me personally as a tool to defend my life. -
As far as ammo goes I run Silver Bear through all of my AK's and they all seem to like it pretty good, yes they do make quad rails and other variants of handguards for the draco that allow you to attach lights and lasers and all of that good stuff. The Tec 9 not so much, Im sure there is some way of rigging a rail onto it but I personally wouldnt do it, you should also be very careful with what ammo you shoot through it as I have seen Tec 9 frames split when using higher velocity rounds.

I would say its probably got to be the 123GR Hornady SST ammo, its still steel cased but has the best bullet from what Ive seen.
