Appleseed Initiative/Project Questions
GKar replied to Patrick Henry's topic in Training Discussions
Has anyone shot at the Ramseur range? I'm signed up for there in October. -
Taking my wife's 10/22 to an Appleseed shoot later this year...

NAACP Slammed By Liberal Website For Playing "The Race Card"

As Shirley Sherrod so graphically demonstrated, the knife does indeed cut both ways... -
I put one together for an Appleseed in NC in October (figured the comfort level will be higher then). Started with my wife's 10/22, which she had already outfitted with a better trigger and the extended mag release (which I've heard is invaluable at these events). This gun has the international/Mannlicher full length stock, so I was able to Dremel the hardware on a USGI websling to fit the 1" mounting hardware on the gun. Finished it out with a set of the peep Tech-Sights. Now to practice hitting postage stamps at 25 yards...

Perhaps FDA needs to get involved here, cause its very evident that those who suckle from the nanny-states' teat are developing serious brain damage....sumthin bad wrong with that milk!!

Hornady Critical Defense has performed flawlessly in the wife's 709. Then again, so has every FMJ round, too: WWB, Ga Arms, MagTech.

There is a small public range (TWRA) out at Jacob's Creek, just off Denton Vallet Rd. Only 3-4 spots, maybe 100 yds max, upkeep was marginal last time I was there.

I have the EMP in the .40 cal flavor. Had a short break-in period, with the only major problem being one mag that would not lock slide back when enpty. Called SA, they sent me 2 more with no questions. Never had any problem with JHP rounds - but the majority of those have been Win Ranger SXTs, which I've never had hang in either gun I've tried them in (.45 in a Micro-Compact, and the .40s in this one). Otherwise, very reliable (up over 1000 rounds thru each), and quite accurate.

My wife absolutely loves her P238. As you noted, easier for her to rack, and it fits her hand great. Consequently, she shoots it real well. Its much less punishing than an LCP (both my and her perspective). She now has several hundred rounds through the P238 with nary a hiccup. She also really likes the Taurus 709.

My wife did exactly that after picking up a 709. She's very pleased with it.

Was one in Kingsport in April, but none in this area since or for the remainder of the year. Have friends near Greensboro, NC, so gonna go to Ramseur (the home range) in October.

Agreed. Never have quite gotten my hands around the concept RE the "improper" postings...from what I've seen/heard, that idea has as its sole backing a singular AG OPINION (which has no real standing, hence teh word "opinion"). This theory, TMK, was never proven in a court of law, which is after all, the actual proving ground. It just seems a bit disingenious to hide behind the same bandying of semantics that we so oft decry when it occurs in other realms... JMO. The real struggle here is NOT with the wording of the law...it is for the education and enlightenment of John Q Public.

POLL- Who will get your vote for Governor
GKar replied to Volzfan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I believe Joe Kirkpatrick has withdrawn, and may be endorsing Ramsey going forward. -
I've heard rumor (to this point, pretty much unsubstantiated) that someone is looking at setting up an indoor range/smith shop in a now-vacant building in the Piney Flats industrial park. Also, Kettlefoot has some long-range plans that may include an indoor range (hope, hope, hope)...

My guess is that we would have gotten the same, if not even more, pro-gun legislation through with almost ANY Republican speaker. Not so much that Williams was the key, just as long as it wasn't Naifeh or one of his close cronies didn't have the chair. Would be willing to bet that even more pro-2A legislation would have gotten to the floor had it not been for some of Williams' committee and chair appointments....which likely would have been considerably different under Mumpower, or several others.

Who is gonna get your vote for govenor?
GKar replied to 94user's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I would disagree with the "gotten self important" tag with regards to Ron. See him at church every other week or so (he's still active as a lay leader there, but I don't know how he does it with his schedule), and he's still the same guy I've known for...well, I guess pretty much as far back as I can remember. -

Ramsey. Don't trust Wamp or Haslam any further than I can throw 'em. -
RE the map - begining July 1, it will be incorrect for VA, as concealed carry (with a permit) will be allowed in restaurants that serve alcohol.
