  1. "No I didn't........" Or ".......asked for a six inch PIANist!!!! What smell?..."
  2. Sorry, not an AR platform, but I ain't got that kinda cash! I finally managed, after a few months of looking, to find a good condition Marlin 882SS on which to base my varminter project. I really like the idea of a .22WMR I know it's no long-range 'yote dropper like a 22-250 or .223, but it's cheap to feed, accurrate as all get out (now) & I'm told, more than adequate for upto 100-125yd shots Upto now I've done a few 'backyard' trigger mods to get the pull down from a frankly ridiculous 7-1/2 pounds to a far more grouping-friendly 3 pounds & I've added a 4-16 x 40 AO scope. Right now I'm gnawing at my fingernails waiting to get my stock blank (one of these......) The stock is, apparrently, 50% inlet for the action & will need a lot of work & final finishing. Hopefully in 10-12 weeks I should be able to show off the finished article!
  3. I'm really wanting to try my hand at a few coyotes. Does anyone know of any populations on public land around Franklin/Coffee counties? I'm thinking possibly Bear Hollow, Flintville Hatchery or similar areas. I don't have access to any private land, so WMAs are my only option (I think. Y'all may know better! )
  4. Sorryfor any spelling mistakes, just been out patternig my gun so I'm doing this left-handed! (MAN those 3-1/2" shells hurt!) Any of you use an 870 Express fo turkeys? What haveyou foundas a good patterning load? I'm shooting a 28" barrel with extra full choke. I tried the 3-1/2" Winchester Supremes with 2oz of no.5 It seems to pattern OK out to 30yds, but breaks up considerably at 40, with only 4 or 5 hits in the head/neck area. I don't want to go dump a load more cash on shells I'll never use if I can get a litte up-front advice. Oh, I believe I'd like to drop to a 3" shell too. My shoulder is frikkin' KILLING me after 6 shots!
  5. Wish someone had one for sale in .22 MAG! Beautiful li'l varmint gun.
  6. Too much Sorry, but I think it's gone from uber classy to sightly tacky. Kinda like a 'My other toy has ****' sticker on a Bentley.
  7. That could be me. Looks a lot like damascus steel. Here's a few examples I've produced in my own forge..... Many, many people are producing Damascus (pattern welded) steels. The 'art' of pattern welding different steel compositons into a cohesive, contrasting billet & then working it into cool & funky items such as this, is alive & well the world over! Damascus steel, or more correctly, Damascene forge-welded steel is quite simply a blend of different simple steels welded together in the forge, to benefeit from the different qualities of each. The pattern, originally speaking, is purely accidental. The pattern is revealed in a process of etching & polishing. There are some spectacular forge-welders around today, producing very intricate mosaic patterns in steel. There's even a trade-name, Damasteel, for stainless damascus (Which I suspect the slide to be) More on topic.....That slide is stunning! Although I now want to buy a 1911
  8. Anybody do any? Where do you go? I've just got my boat rigged up for the spring & I'm looking for suggestions of where to go shoot a few carp. I've fished with a few buddys on their boat below Nickajack dam, but I'm new to boats & don't have the confidence to go play on the river just yet. I'm looking for lake suggestions, if anyone has any.
  9. I'm just looking for an 'Introduction to Handguns' course, or something similar, as we speak.
  10. Similar.... I've not been able to find a picture identical to this gun, but from what I've been able to discover, there were several factories in Eibar, Spain that manufactured Smith model 10 & Colt Police copies in 32WCF caliber during the late '20s through to the early '40s. I think that mine was made by FRN, but the stamping is very worn & hard to read.
  11. No need to apologise at all! All taken in good fun (& hopefully my comment was taken the same way. It's hard to project a big giggly grin when you're typing!)
  12. Ah, okay It's an old Spanish S&W model 10 copy (I recently bought it from Coldblackwind) in 32-30 I've managed to date it to somewhere around 1930s-ish vintage. The frame & barrel are in surprisingly good condition (structurally speaking) Other than it lookin like steamrolled crap, everything is tight & seems to work perfectly, just wasn't sure about this gap thang.
  13. I bought an older revolver to use as a throw around truck/hunting pack gun. Please bear in mind that I have ZERO handgun experience & yes, I realise I probably should've asked this before I handed over the small amount of cash I spent. Should there be a gap between the front of the cylinder & the back of the barrel? The gun I bought has a gap of about 1/16" & I'm a little worried about shooting it (I guess I'm a little leery of escaping gasses, misalignment, blowing my own frikkin' hands off, etc...) Should I be, or is this perfectly normal & I'm an idiot?
  14. And y'all are all inbred hillbillies with curly teeth & a 'shine still in your back yard :screwy:
  15. And yet here you sit on an open public forum doing the selfsame thing to England. If I were to come over & punch your lights out, I'd get f**king deported! The problem with England (NOT BRITAIN!!!!!) is that our Governments for the past several years have been making reactionary, knee-jerk policies concerning all weapons (& anything that could conceivably be construed as a weapon) to appease lefty, cotton-wool wrapping parents of childeren who are no longer allowed to experience, or even discover, how the world actually works. Everyone is so uptight that Little Johnny & Little Susan may get hurt (In any way) that the parasites in Parliment do there utmost to ban anything that may be deemed harmful. Here's a small example for you......If I were walking down the street unarmed in any way, shape or form, made a gun shape with my fingers & pointed at an old lady, I would be guilty of Armed Threat. How f**king ridiculous is that?!?! You don't even need to be armed, all that needs to happen is for someone to be AFRAID THAT YOU MAY BE ARMED!!! Replica handguns, blank firing handguns & certain toy handuns are classed in exactly the same light as the real thing! All our toy guns these days have to be orange!!!!! All I can say is God Bless America (and thanks fo letting me in ) but not everyone in England is as bad as y'all make out. Just them that make the rules
  16. Tinitus. Brought on by my own stupidity on Wednesday. Shooting a .44 mag & some HOT loads without ear defenders. I gave them to a 13 year old to protect his hearing I wouldn't mind, but i was HIS gun!!! Mind you, they were his EDs too. Damn good fun was had (Better if the ringing ever stops!)
  17. So's South Texas I'll get a PM to him right away, thanks for the heads-up guys.
  18. Thanks for all the help & info folks, I really appreciate all of your time! Looking at things with a little more knowledge now, it seems like I should be able to get myself set up for less than $250, but probably not for $200, with a good quality .38 revolver, which was my initial thought also. I guess it's time to start shopping! I suppose a want-ad on here couldn't do any harm either
  19. No photoshop, it's an actual, working, production gun! The Pfeifer-Zeliska .600 Nitro. Dumber than a sockfull of bees, but...erm....nope, that's about it really!
  20. LoL! you guys crack me up! I had considered on of these........ but I figured that a) I couldn't afford it, I couldn't afford to shoot it & c) I like my arms in their sockets thankyouverymuch!
  21. Cool info, thanks Dats! I'll take a ride up there tomorrow.
  22. I've checked out the legalities of what I'm wanting & because I'm on private land, it's not a problem. As soon as I hit any public trails, roads or land I'd have to unload & carry the gun seperately from the ammunition, in an inaccessible locked case. It's just when I'm 10 or 15 miles from anyone on a multi-hundred thousand acre ranch I feel like a little insurance would go a long way! The main reason I'm a little wary of a .22 (I know that it'll stop a rattler!) is from an experience I had down there a few years back. I'd parked my truck on a small sendero, leading down to a nicely wooded draw that just reeked of hogs. I probably walked a good 6 miles from the truck & hunted there all day. I shot a nice 100# hog & dragged it back to the truck to find 3 Mexican guys sat on my tailgate. Now I'm a big guy & not easily intimidated, but the way these guys acted (trying to get on all sides of me, one being very aggressive, 2 being silent & shifty) scared the piss out of me! I ended up giving them the pig to get them to go away. I've also had a friend in a similar situation coming back to their vehicles to find a full family hiding under a tarp in the truck bed! This all happened before I moved to the States & there would've been nothing I could've done if these guys forced me into a nasty situation (well, nastier) I just want the insurance that I can get myself out of a similar predicament if it should ever happen again. Oh, just as an aside, I do plan on attending a handgun safety class as soon as possible!
