  1. Surrounded by water right now in Franklin. I almost took a car to high ground yesterday. It would have been about a mile to walk to it. Glad I didn't as most of the bridges in and out and now closed due to potential structural damage
  2. I will check and see if I can get some info but I heard last night that the intersection of Harding and Nolensville was under water. I have a friend that has rental property about 1/2 mile west of there. She told me that the house has about 5 feet of water in it right now. The TDOT site was doing a pretty good job of updating the main roads so you might try the TDOT Smartway site.
  3. man, I've never been a 1911 guy but that is a seriously sexy looking pistol.
  4. Totally ridiculous. Once they found out that someone died the news caster said it 5 times in about 3 minutes. They just couldn't wait until someone finally dies.
  5. If you are driving down the interstate and you see a car floating in 4 feet of water: Turn. The. Heck. Around... Your car doesn't float any better then theirs did... Watching the TDOT cameras on I-24. Best reality TV ever. For the life of me I don't understand why THP didn't close the interstate. Mark
  6. With the way the storm is trending north I think we dodged most of the major problems here....
  7. I have to disagree. I think he lost his mo-jo when he lost his pressure relief ho's
  8. does he have any 9mm brass?
  9. Looks like no wrongs here but a whole lot of hurting will be the result...
  10. You may be the first person I know that has a bug out tailgate. I'm sure it will be all the rage soon...
  11. Apologies if this has made the rounds but I'd never heard it. George Bush, Vladimir Putin, and Queen Elizabeth all died in the same car crash. For various reasons they all ended up in Hell. When the devil saw them he told them they could each make a phone call to loved ones but it would be expensive. Vladimir Putin went first and called Russia. He spent 5 minutes on the phone and when he hung up the devil told him it would be one million dollars. Queen Elizabeth went next and called England for 15 minutes and after hanging up was told it would be 6 million dollars. George Bush finally went and called the USA. He got transferred from location to location talking to all of his friends and former citizens and spent about 4 hours on the phone. When he hung up the devil told him it would be five dollars. Putin heard that and went ballistic accusing the devil of all kinds of favoritism etc etc... The devil held up his hand and said wait a minute. "Since Obama took over the US has gone to hell so it is only a local call" tadaaaaa Mark
  12. Papabear, I have a 226 and my wife has a 229. We got them both in January of 09. I got really lucky and found a 9mm top end for the 226 almost immediately. The top end for the 229 was another issue. After e-mailing Sig weekly and being told it would be out "soon" I finally got the 9mm top end for the 229 about 2 weeks ago. There were several vendors online that had the top ends last week but a quick search shows most are out right now. My guess is that there will be another batch out sooner than later. I have at least 10k rounds through my 22 kit. I did a LOT of shooting to prepare to train last year and I had a really hard time finding 9mm that I could afford for a while and when I did find some I kept it for classes. My wife actually shoots more through hers than I do through mine. In general she prefers to shoot 22 and not a bigger caliber when we go to the range. She shoots about 200 rounds of 22 once or twice a week and a box of 9mm every other week just to stay used to it. So far we have had zero issues. The 229 seems to be a bit more finicky but if I keep it relatively clean it will eat just about anything. The 226 eats everything and laughs about it. All in all we are very pleased with both pistols. I really like the economy of shooting 22. BJEC, I feel your pain. This experience has pretty much turned me off completely to new Sigs. I was really upset that they had enough parts to keep selling new 229 9mm's but not the parts to sell top ends to those of us that bought into the 2 step program. I've been a loyal sig shooter for 20 years but now I am branching out. I might look at a decent used Sig though if I saw something I liked. Mark
  13. any vintage Turley Zinfandel would do just fine... I just hate that I haven't been back to California to get more and my wine source moved...
  14. I will let you know if they get mad or not...
  15. Very cool...Kudos to your mom
  16. I would save as much as possible and pay whatever I could to take a ride like that...
  17. Ok David, a little warning... I laughed out loud and had to cover it quickly at work...
  18. RUN!!! ok, just kidding. I think everyone should go through it at least once. You will be tested like you won't believe and probably have a blast doing it.
  19. Hope the pooch is ok. Now be honest... How many read this and thought: Damn I've been hunting x times now and haven't seen 5 coyotes total yet... Mark
  20. I like Levin and I am a big reader but I haven't been able to make it through his book yet. I've tried 3 times so far. Mark
  21. Well, congrats on the job. But, it isn't like you are moving that far away...
  22. JPS, I wore out a couple of K1000's before moving to MX's. I really liked my Pentax cameras but when I was ready to move to digital Pentax wasn't a player. I just gave away the last of my old Pentax lenses a few months ago. Mark
  23. Still a bit new to middle Tn. I see Davis didn't vote for health care. Do you think that they knew they didn't need his vote and gave him a pass? Or, would he not have voted for it either way? Do we have any good conservative candidates ready to challenge him? Mark
