  1. Sounds good. Thanks. Hope to return in a week with a bull elk.
  2. I'm driving to Colorado via KY, IL, MO, KS, then CO. Making sure I'm current here- with my HCP, I'm good to carry (concealed) everywhere but Illinois?
  3. A lot of meat and an easy retrieval. Can't beat that.
  4. Just aging on the hoof. He is mature definitely. Whether 3 1/2 or 4 1/2, I'm not sure.
  5. Davidson County: This was a stalk; I crawled up a fence row til I was at 42 yards. 3 1/2 years old and 132"
  6. I've had issues with lint getting in mine from keeping it in my pocket. When this happens, the blade makes it 1/2 or 3/4 the way out before it stops. If you can get the blade to come all the way out by pulling on it, you can then use the button to pull it back in. From there, blow compressed air in the slot to blast out the junk.
  7. Hevi-13 3 1/2" #5 is what I use with my 870 Express. Lots of people get great results with these.
  8. Thanks very much. How do you clean the barrel/gas tube and everything under the tube?
  9. What tube is this? Is this a rifle length over a low-profile gas block?
  10. agreed. OP- this is a good link. I won't take credit for this. BSK at tndeer forums is very knowledgeable and put together this very thorough and informative post: Tennessee Deer Talk: Field-judging buck age examples
  11. 11/9/08, 9:30 am, muzzleloader 4 1/2 y.o., 207 lbs., 24 1/4" main beam, 19" outside spread, 7 points and a 1" kicker off the brow tine. Heart shot, he ran into a thicket, and I heard him crash probably 4 seconds after the shot.
  12. Foster Butt Taxidermy in Madison
  13. thanks a lot - there are a few LC Smith auctions there now - all 12 ga.
  14. Thanks a lot. I would not say that the condition was Excellent, maybe Good, but I'm a newbie to this sort of thing anyway. I will have no opportunity to use it really, so I'll end up listing it for sale, I'm sure.
  15. Anyone familiar with this shotgun? The most I know about it i that it was purchased (used?) in the 50's. It's an LC Smith Field 16 ga. side-by-side.
  16. Castle Doctrine protects us from civil liability and criminal charges if we lawfully shoot someone in self defense.
  17. That one was given to my dad for his 16th birthday (1968). He gave it to me, and I still haven't cleaned it, but it shoots well. Any recommendations for a scope?
  18. Remington model 700 in 30/06 with Leupold Vari-X III scope Remington 870 Express Super Mag Beretta AL 390 Gold All together with Marlin .22, Glock 22 and Sig 239
  19. OK, thanks for the input, all. I will now put the lid back on this can of worms.
  20. OK, so the 'Glock KB' thing is echoed by Sig/HK/S&W/everythingelse owners on every discussion forum on the Internet. Is there really data to substantiate this trend, or does this occur no more often with a Glock than any other manufacturer? If so, I guess I'll avoid reloads. I have to add, though, that shooting it is lots of fun.
  21. Yes, it is full-sized, but it has forced me to carry OWB (Blackhawk Serpa), and it's really comfortable (I've been carrying the 239 IWB). Just a t-shirt over it in Kroger or wherever, and it's apparent that no one notices. I'm still adjusting to the trigger, though, especially after the Sig, which is perfect IMO.
  22. Went to Guns and Leather and picked up a G22. After perusing the entire selection and chatting with staff, I picked out what I knew I would leave with - a .40 cal Glock. As usual, the guys at G&L were helpful and a pleasure to do business with. We burned through a few hundred rounds tonight, here's one target: New G22 and my Sig P239: The 239 (9 mm): 8 rounds @ 10 yards with the Sig, 115 gr. WWB: The new one : 8 rounds @ 10 yards with the Glock, 165 gr. WWB (need to tighten it up a bit): I've happily traversed to the Dark Side, and I'm glad I did. Next up: G21 SF.
  23. I would be careful with that. The instructor for my permit class told us that a loaded magazine is considered a loaded weapon.
  24. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely go back to Stone's River. The damage: Sig P239, 30 rounds, 50 feet: Sig P239, 40 rounds, 10 yds: Sig P239, 64 rounds, 10 yds Glock 17, 40 rounds, 10 yds:
